They're only going to air a few of them, I think. And they're only doing that much because of protests.
You know, I used to watch those pageants all the time when I was a kid for the talent portions. I found them highly amusing.

Posted: 9/18/04 at 9:09pmme too! I remember the last pageant I watched on tv there was no talent portion....I'm not sure if that's how they're doing it with all of them though...

Awesome!!

Posted: 9/18/04 at 9:21pmI used to be religious on this years back (mid 80's - early 90's)--- had prided myself on being able to pick the winner 5 years in a row from the parade of states....that's pretty scary that I admitted that!

I think New York made it. Let's root for her...
Because she goes to NYU and NYC has Broadway.

Oh dear lord. John Weidman is judging beauty pageants?
*facepalm*
Well, I guess there's worse ways for the guy to spend his time.

Oh, I'm an old fart, but I find the entire approach to this year's show so off-putting. All that "reality tv" jump-cutting for the 50 introductions at the top, well, you couldn't drink and watch the screen (and who can watch this damn thing without drinking?) And the Bachelor-ette-whatever host. Bring back anyone else. What a sexless noodle. To add to the sexless male tone, we have Clay Aikin to croon for us. Gee, I wonder if he'll date any of the losers?
Plus, whassup with the large SNAKE like lighting effect, over the stage? How tacky. But then, tacky is the theme--look at the black cocktail dresses -- many of which look like they'r from from a community theater production of NINE.

But Auggie, Miss America was never about sex! Ignore the bikini-clad women and their well-bleached smiles. This is about giving scholarships to the finest, most wholesome young women in America.

Texas didn't make it from the Top Ten to the Top Five.
And I found it funny how the five from the Top Ten who didn't make it had the lights above them go down the *second* Miss North Carolina was called.
And, in the clips from the talent portion, those girls were SO flat. Lord.

So are PA or NJ still in it? Probably not- the northeast doesn't tend to produce top beauty queens for some mysterious reason.

Posted: 9/18/04 at 10:13pmI want to see Clay Aiken come out of the closet before his song. It would be a great publicity stunt.

I didn't like Miss North Carolina's voice.
The best talents, from the clips, were the young lady playing the piano (piano is very difficult to master) and Miss California, who did the flips to "Hot Honey Rag." Didn't care much for the singing.
EDIT: PA and NJ didn't even make it to the Top 10.

Posted: 9/18/04 at 10:17pmThe whole pageant thing kinda scares me. I once went to a meeting for Miss Manhattan. All the girls were like robots and wanted world peace and tax cuts.
