You can adopt for free on September 23 between 12-4. They will be euthanizing all animals without a home, so save a life. There are 30 cats and 80 dogs left. Please spread the word.
You might want to specify which state. There are about a dozen Montgomery counties in the US.
Did you just find out that they were closing tomorrow? Not much time for us to spread the word?
Can't the animals be transferred to other shelters? A coworker's wife volunteers with a shelter in NJ and they receive animals from other shelters.

It's a chain message I got, I'm just spreading the word myself.

And if I had that I would have posted it, I simply relayed a message.
A message that has absolutely no impact on anyone except those with access to the proper information. I grew up in Montgomery County, Maryland. My roommate grew up in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. Montgomery County, Texas would not be in my top five guesses of what Montgomery County you might be talking about.
The animal shelter is closing tomorrow (today, at this point). Posting a random forwarded message with no information about how to get there or help in any way is absolutely unhelpful in every single way imaginable.
^ And I actually grew up near Montgomery County, Texas, the one that has the shelter closing.
I wonder just how many there really are.

How many Montgomery Counties are there?
Here's one answer.
I went to the Montgomery County Fair in Dayton, Ohio on Labor Day. I was born in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania.
I agree, the facebook message is not very effective. First, I thought it was somewhere in Virginia, because my cousin posted about it because she live there. But then a friend who goes to school in Pennsylvania posted it, so it is very confusing and misleading, unless you actually see an article from a real source.
Thank you, Scott. When the OP didn't seem to realize the issue I just "walked away".
This what lack of information can lead to
I grew up in Montgomery County, PA...when my sister passed we had people donate to the their SPCA.
I also grew up near Montgomery County, Texas. Naturally, I thought of it first. Sad news.
There are only 15 or 18 (referring to the comment on that blog)? I would have thought way more.
I wonder if there are a lot of 'Smith counties'.

I heard this was a hoax.
And I live near Montgomery Co, PA

This reminds me of that weird Montgomery "mini mall" commercial.
I don't live in or near a Montgomery County.
It was not a hoax. A shelter did have to close because of a site issue but all of the animals were adopted
I read that and my heart dropped and couldn't believe that a shelter would euthanize rather than wait for all adoptions to be final, and luckily- they wouldn't.
The story is a rumor:

Logan, Eris already posted that link. The idea that a shelter in MontCo, PA isn't true, but the fact that a Montgomery County (Texas) Animal Shelter is closing is not a rumor.
The "rumor" I was referring to was that the un-adopted pets would be put down, not that a shelter was closing (regardless of where it actually is located).

Actually, the article never states that unadopted animals wouldn't be put down. That comment had to start somewhere and I feel there was a grain of truth to it. Luckily, all the animals were adopted.
The first paragraph of the article states "No animals face death today because of the closing of a Montgomery County Animal Shelter." That could mean that because all of the animals were adopted none of them faced death not that there was never any intention to euthanize any of them. It's just not clear.
