Here's a pretty random snippet of a conversation from the 40s which will bring us to the brink of 100 posts on this thread:
A woman said to Winston Churchill; 'If you were my husband, I would put arsenic in your drink'
And Churchill replied; 'If you were my wife, ma'am, I would drink it'.
Nice little quote, or so I thought.
The rain we knew is a thing of the past -
deep-delving, dark, deliberate you would say
browsing on spire and bogland; but today
our sky-blue slates are steaming in the sun,
our yachts tinkling and dancing in the bay
like racehorses. We contemplate at last
shining windows, a future forbidden to no one.
