This is all conjecture anyway, but she may very well be more supporting in the film. Lovett is a leading role in the play, but that may not be the same for the film.
Maybe not in the movie, wizard.
Effie White is a leading role.
Velma Kelly is a leading role.
Yeah, but in those cases (Effie and Velma) there were other reasons they did not want to put Hudson and Jones in leading.
I'll be suprised if Lovett's part is cut down that much to make her suporting.
Well, "Wait" and "By the Sea" have probably been cut.
I expect Wait to be cut, but I think By the Sea will still be there. With A Little Priest and Worst Pies..., I think she could be leading.
She'll fair better in featured.
"By the Sea" has been rumored to be cut, and "A Little Priest" will be cut down.
I expect Alan Rickman's Judge will become a bigger role than it is onstage.
But who really knows?
that's an interesting list Munk.
I noticed John Cusak isn't there for Grace Is Gone. Harvey Weinstein has already promised a major push for him in the lead actor race.
And also Things We Lost In The Fire (Halle Berry)
And Talk To Me (Don Cheadle)
Plus, the guy making those predictions hasn't really seen any of the upcoming films. It's based ALL on advance buzz, and we know how wrong advance buzz can be.
Even if Carter's role in the SWEENEY film is clearly leading, it will be up to how they want to market Carter. If the movie is even a success, it will all come down to her competition and which category it would be easier for her to snag a nomination or a win - like Zeta-Jones in CHICAGO, Hudson in DREAMGIRLS, or even Chris Cooper for ADAPTATION, Jennifer Connelly for A BEAUTIFUL MIND, Tim Robbins for MYSTIC RIVER, Djimon Hounsou, BLOOD DIAMOND and the exact opposite for Reese Witherspoon in WALK THE LINE and Forest Whitaker in ...SCOTLAND.
I hope they remember Breach too. That was such a great movie and Cooper gave an incredible performance
BREACH and ZODIAC both, but the only things I can see them being remembered for are Cooper (longshot) and cinematography for ZODIAC.
Ok.......so, back to the topic of this thread...........Best Actress - Marion Cotillard. One of the most extraordinary performances ever caputured on film.
Hands down.......she's got it.........Golden Globe, SAG Award, critics, and Oscar Gold!
ehhhhhh...too early to tell.

Well, "Wait" and "By the Sea" have probably been cut.
- Actually things are looking good for "By The Sea" - the description of the trailer said there was a scene of Lovett and Sweeney at the wedding altar. So it will most likely be a fantasy clip from "By The Sea."
Well, who really knows.
But I would imagine Carter will be considered featured. I think she'll do better in featured, although I would love to see her nominated for lead. I can't wait to see what she does with the role.
"A Little Priest" will, I assume, be shortened.

I do hope Andy Griffith gets nominated for Waitress. He was superb. I need to get to the movies and see some of these. I wish there was more time.
I agree. Andy Griffith was a delight, as was the rest of the film. I do hope WAITRESS is this year's surprise dark horse.
