lol Nope, he didn't die. The wife was freaking out like hell though because she was in the cell down the hall and even though it's all cement and heavy doors, it's not exactly soundproof.
No happy ending. They were detained for about a week afterwards because no airline wanted to board them, for obvious reasons. Last I had heard, the woman agreed to leave, but we had to convince him to leave as well. I don't know how they agreed to separate. Maybe it was just that she was willing and he wasn't.
Either way, they were sent back home.

Well, with that, I'm off to bed (school tomorrow). 'Night!
(Tiff -- READ the Assassins synopsis! )
Yeah, probably. *shrug*
I still don't know if he actually wanted to kill himself or if they just wanted to be so physically injured to delay their return to Slovenia.

Thanks Tiff! Tomorrow, the little Shanghai lad!

Well, if they tried to kill themselves because they didn't want to go back to Slovenia, I would assume they would make another attempt once they got home.
I just don't know if maybe they just wanted to injure themselves so they'd be hospitalized here and delay their return even more. Could be the case.
Yep, Ellie, tomorrow the little Shanghai kid!
I will read your synop, Govnuh!

But if they were that desperate for a delay, then you'd think they wouldn't want to live once they got back.
Yeah, that's true. I don't know why they were so keen to sneak in to begin with. I just remember they were two young (mid/late 20s-early 30s) goodlooking folks.

Hm. I don't know either.
So has anything interesting happened recently? And did everyone else leave?
Hmm...well every day there's things where, you know, you stop people from coming in, where you tell them that their application process to become landed immigrants is invalid and they have to go home.
Emotionally, those are the hardest parts, because unlike tourists/students, these people have left their own lives behind, cut all those bridges, and expect to come here for a new start and then you send 'em home. I mean, usually it's their fault, but more or less they're good people.

I can see that... it's almost cruel to give someone a taste of freedom and then have to take it away.
A lot of the time it's because people hire immigration consultants to deal with their paper work because it's so ample and detailed. However, esp. in India and China, the immi consultants are less concerned about getting hte job done right, and more concerned about the dough (you can make over $10-15 000/immigration case as a consultant!) so they'll mislead their clients into thinking everything's fine until the client gets turned away at our border.

That is dreadful.
And Tiff, just how many lives do you lead?
I just read on another thread that you were off writing movie reviews, and your job at the airport (what's your official title? Immigration Officer Tiff?), and not to mention the 84 essays you seem to have to do every week! :)
Plus I'm sure I read of another of your jobs somewhere. Are you Ganesh's baby sister?

'Night Ebonic!
My official title is Citizenship & Immigration Officer. I ADORE it when people call me Officer. I make all my friends ask for Officer Me when they call.
Anyway, I do that part time now (used tobe full time in thesummer). I'm a full time Criminology student, hence the 84 essays (incl a 15 pager due tmrw that I haven't started researching for), and I do film/theatre reviews at my university a few times a year. Occasionally I'm a rockclimbing instructor, and even less occasionally, I do production assisting in film/TV.

Tiff, your life is NUTS. How do you find time for bww? What are you planning to do full time eventually?
I crammed all my courses into 2 intense days, and then I go immigration and/or I'm on here the rest of the time. And the rockclimbing/production assisting happens on the fly.
I'm really lucky that the immigration is a counter job with internet access, plus I've got wireless laptop that's accessible at school, so you'd be surprised how often during the day time I'm actually writing from campus or at work.
And I mean, the PAing and rockclimbing is on-call, and the theatre/film reviews only happen maybe 5 times a year, so it's not that bad. It used to be CRAZY earlier this year though.
I've just accepted that sleep is overrated.

I can't even handle highschool.
Once you get into IB though, it's a really good transition into college and everything. You really learn about time management, or at hte very least, how to pull brilliance out of your ass at the 23rd hour.

So OfficerGaneshTiff, when do you find the time for bad dates? Updated On: 11/8/04 at 12:49 AM

A better question is, how do you get all these jobs??

Take your contacts out before plopping your ass in front of bww for the night, Tiff. This I know.
What is Ganesh?
