Yes, I was thinking the same thing. I enjoy reading everyone's opinions, but it's getting a little out of hand. Such madness!

It was a 56 piece orchestra, according to the programme. And I just had a momentary heart attack because I thought I'd lost my programme. That would have been sad
I've avoided the main board today...think it's for the best.

I was just about to ask if anyone knew about the DVD.
Do you think it will be on PBS like Company was?

I can't imagine where else it would air. The way those work is that they're filmed and produced independently, and then aired by PBS; PBS doesn't have anything to do with the production and filming for Great Performances, so it's totally possible this will be (or has been) pitched to them.

I was going to come over and add my two cents in, but it seems everyone covered everything I was going to say. The flailing, the weird dancing, the idea of Adam actually playing Chess. Did anyone else notice that during the "get my kicks above the waistline" line that there are guys walking by him? And what was with the white suit?
It sounds like the sound made the whole thing suffer, and I'm not an Idina fan by any means, but it's disappointing to hear that so many people disliked her. I really hope it's released on DVD! I'm itching to hear Pity the Child if/when a video appears.

Hi everyone - haven't had much time to hang out here, but couldn't resist checking out Adam's Chess appearance. I'm doing okay, still working on health issues. Thanks for all the info and links.

speaking of Company on PBS, does anyone know if PBS is selling copies of that?

Yes, you can get it at shopthirteen.org now, or it'll be released on Amazon and everywhere else on the 20th.

sweetdisaster - i think the black suit/white suit is symbolism of the chess board. A very common theme of the show is that the players (freddie, anatoly, etc.) are actually pieces on the "chess board of life" and moving, manipulating, and capturing each other. So them in those two colors represents the two different sides/US vs. Russia, etc. But from the blurry video it does look awful, lol.

Oh, I did get that symbolism, Tink. I was laughing more at Adam in a full white suit than anything. I was picturing him coming out with a cane and pimp hat or something.

Hah, symbolic as it may be, the white suit still looks ridiculous. And yeah, I loled at the "kicks above my waist" line, too.

i finally watched part 2 & 3. There are def things I like about this production and some that make me cringe. From what you can tell from the blurriness he still has Actors fund Chess Hair going on which would be cool.

The only thing I can think of is that article where he has his chin resting on his hand all cute like....

I think that happened in the Actor's Fund version too. Either Adam believes Freddie really is probably queer, or it's an unfortunate coincidence.
Actor's Fund Chess makes me nostalgic for college.
I listened to it nonstop. When I listen to those versions now, it reminds me of riding the bus around campus.

LOL at all-white suit. That's a little over literal, guys.
It does seem to pale in comparison to the Actor's Fund concert, unfortunately. Thankfully, that was...somewhat preserved.
Too bad about Idina sucking. I'm always pulling for that bipolar manjawed weirdo.
