I don't know what to make of the fact that his mom reads his blogs, and that he made light of the mentioning of his children in that whole mess. Yikes!
Good for Adam's mom.
GuitarGirl, I'm interested to hear your reaction to the CD. Whenever you get around to it is fine; I don't think many people here have ordered it at all.

It's nice to know that Adam's mom is as overinvested in his internet life as my mom is in mine.
Adam's mom should reward your mom with an email where they kvetch about their crazy kids on the internets.

Gee, I don't know if my mom deserves that kind of reward after spawning offspring like me.
I could fully see it, though. My mom introduced herself to the crazy, drunk, inappropriate mom of Cary Shields at the Cutting Room last year. She's outgoing that way.
Did you order the CD orangeskittles?
Yes, Guitargirl, I am very curious to hear your reaction as well. Let me know if it is worth buying or not...
I will probably buy it regardless, but ya know.

I specifically recall Adam Pascal ordering me not to buy his CD. Guess I'm going to have to just wait until some kindly soul PMs me with a magical way of previewing the whole thing for soulless mockery. Guess that could be months, with the dearth of people who actually ordered it.
When I can buy it in person or through a reputable online source like Amazon or iTunes, I might, but I don't feel the current method of sale is secure.

Well, I've given the CD a listen this morning. It's...not the best thing in the world. Here's a review of the songs:
1. A Single Drop of You: The music is really odd, almost fake sounding, and Adam's vocals are also a bit odd. The acoustic guitar sounds best. I liked the song better live, though.
2. Don't Lie: The electric guitar sounds fake, and Larry's voice in the background at some points is odd. I liked it better live.
3. Turn the Lights On: This one sounds more "rock" than the others and the music isn't so odd. It's one of the better songs and doesn't sound so different from the live version other than more instruments.
4. Call Your Bluff: Other than a weird sounding Spanish instrument, the song is rather good and Daphne sounds good with Adam. The Spanish sound actually sounds nice and it's relaxing.
5. I Can't Go On Without You: This one's new, and I like the guitars-acoustic and electric-which both sound real. It's a sweet song and other than some stray lyrics doesn't seem as Larry influenced.
6. Space in a Blinding Light: This song is okay and I can't decided whether I liked hearing it live better. The chorus with Adam and Larry sounds odd, and it would be better if they weren't singing together. The guitar solo sounds like something out of Adam's old days but doesn't last too long.
7. Will I Drown: A bit depressing and Adam's vocalizing towards the end is strange because...it's not necessary and puts the melodramatic-ness of the song over the top. And after awhile it sounded a bit funny.
8. Nothing Will Tear Us Apart: This was a song played at the concerts that I didn't know the name of, but other than the lyrics it doesn't sound the same. It's the fastest song on the CD. It actually sounds like something I might hear on the radio, and I like it better than the live version. It's pretty rock-ish. More Adam than Larry.
9. Just Like I Am: The beginning sounds a bit melodramatic, and the drums are weird. There's an electric guitar solo that's good, and very little acoustic guitar. There's also an odd organ-sounding instrument that is out of place. It's okay, but I miss the acoustic guitar originally used, and I liked the song better before they...put it on the CD.
10. Fade Out: It's a melodramatic song in the same vein as "Will I Drown?" only with Adam singing, and the lyrics are odd, such as "I saw the grass turn gray with lonely" (lol). I don't think I'll ever grow to like this song.
11. See Me Shining: I'm really disappointed in this song! The music sounds too synthetic and Adam doesn't seem so emotional, but subtle, which is really odd for this song. I liked the acoustic guitar/piano arrangement so much better, and the song was better live.
12. Pause the Clock: This one was...weird. I don't understand what the song was actually about, and the children counting was a bit creepy, to be honest. It's like a bad dream. A very dramatic bad dream....
Overall, the CD wasn't as good as Adam's other ones and I don't think it's worth the trouble to buy it from the website. It would be better to buy it from iTunes and Amazon, if it ever becomes available that way, or at the shows. It's not a terrible album but it's certainly not Adam's best.

"Pause the Clock"
that reminds me of ttb.
Thanks for your review, Guitargirl
I Got Blinding Light yesterday, and while I agree that it is not quite as good as his first two , I liked it. Let me warn everyone that I am in no way, shape, or form qualified as a music critic. 99% of the things guitargirl noticed I would never be able to pick out in a million years. Also, I tend to prefer the less "rockish" sound. I love "I'm With You" and don't think I have ever listened to "Wonderchild" all the way through. All that said, my favorite on the album is "Fade Out". I also really liked "See Me Shining", "Don't Lie", and "Turn the Lights On". Not a real huge fan of "A Single Drop of You", (I agree that Adam sounds odd) and actively hate "Will I Drown". The lyrics as a whole are somewhat generic (a lot of I love you's and metaphors for water, something Adam seems quite fond of). Overall I am glad that I bought the album. I did it on a whim a couple of weeks ago, I was going to wait to see what people thought of it.
It's not so much that it's not rock, but it's not Adam. I love I'm With You, more than Wonderchild, but that song (I'm With You) is Adam, whereas most of these are not so much.
I'm still really disappointed in See Me Shining. I just don't like this version, and I didn't think they'd change it that much. They never really needed to. There's something nice and beautiful about the simplicity of just having an acoustic guitar, a piano, and Adam's voice, which they got rid of on the CD.
I had not heard any of the material prior to getting the album so I have nothing to compare it to, but if it showcased Adam's voice more then I would certainly agree with you. His voice is the reason I'm a fan. My fondest hope is that there is a plan to release a Broadway album on Sh-K-Boom. (He thanked Kurt Duetsch in the album notes, so they still have a relationship) That is where he truly shines, for me at least. As I said though, as a whole I liked the album, but it is very clearly a collaboration, and I certainly think Adam is more than strong enough to stand on his own.
but that song (I'm With You) is Adam, whereas most of these are not so much.
This seems to sum up my opinion of his music these days.
"Pause the Clock"

Except ttB is good.
Thanks for the review, GuitarGirl. After hearing these songs progress and develop over the past two years, it's unfortunate that the recorded versions are not the best.
Yeah. I'll wait until I hear it for myself, but I'm also disappointed to hear that the recorded versions aren't the best. I've always thought Adam sounds his best live anyway, but ideally, I'd hope for full advantage of recording technology to be taken with the music. Would you say it's because of production, or are the arrangements actually different on stuff other than "See Me Shining"?

"I'd hope for full advantage of recording technology to be taken with the music. "
Exactly.
And yeah, ttb is good. For some reason, the phrase "stop the clock" actually sounds feasible, while "pause the clock" just doesn't really add up to me. Can a clock actually be paused?
The arrangements were slightly different on all the songs, but production was part of it. The music sounded synthetic at times, not real.

lol, he only clarified that because I demanded he do so in two blog comments.
Does he post anything that's not about me?
Thanks for the great review, GuitarGirl.

I was really looking forward to BSOM, but we were expecting as much.
Argh - not a happy camper. I wonder if I contacted Feinsteins if they would refund me because I bought under false pretenses? I'll still most likely go, but it'd be interesting to see.
