Adam Pascal

When Adam was in Cabaret,my first thought was that he was wrong for the role and yet he was fantastic. He probably can do Phantom with some training.

But as someone who declares they "hate" Adam, the constant disses are getting so old no matter how clever the prose. Obsessed much?

It's kind of funny for you to call me obsessed, considering you only ever post to diss me. Also considering Adam has a little obsession of his own, what with his last blog being devoted to me. Adam Pascal

It's just my honest opinion. If I were posting just to diss him I wouldn't have given thought to the reason it didn't work for me. Honestly, I can't judge from the audio for one song as to whether he could do it or not. I don't have any particular attachment to the Phantom, and it's entirely possible his off kilter portrayal would be an interesting one.

However, I heard Next to Normal for the first time awhile ago and thought Adam as Dan(that is the Dad's name right?) might work. Y/N/M?

I love Next to Normal a lot, so I'm biased. I don't see him in the role because I see the role calling for someone who comes off a little more like a typical, boring, stodgy, suburban dad. He might be able to handle it affectingly, but I think there would be a certain angst and melodrama in his performance that undermined the way the character is supposed to unfold. I don't think understated acting is his strong point (see Rent, the movie), I think he'd either seem a little too blank or a little too vulnerable.

Unfortunately that's the problem with Adam and a lot of roles these days. He'd fit the son better, if he weren't much too old. That's why a freakshow like the Phantom probably really is the best choice for him right now.

He'd be more fitting as the doctor than Dan, but since they've cut Feeling Electric, it's hard to tell which direction (stylistically) they're taking the character in.

Wait, they cut Feeling Electric? I totally missed that memo. That's a big change!

Did anyone see Drift? How was it? I've been listening to 37 Notebooks lately - I really like Song for New Orleans. Adam's singing seems more "restrained" in that song than usual. No big wailing falsetto and I think that kind of works for him (admittedly I have no idea what the f*** I'm talking about.)

Yeah, the wail can be a little "Whitesnake-esque" at times....

...sigh...Such a pretty man. You just know he was elbowing Julia Murney out of the way to get that mascara...

I laughed so hard at the mascara picture. Made doubly awesome by the Julia Murney factor.

...he should brush some of that into his eyebrows. When they made him dye his eyebrows for Cabaret it took like 10 years off his face. He looked younger in that period than he did during Rent.

He looks great.

The pink bracelet suits him, too.

Grabber Adam's still at it. And I love Lauren Kennedy's dress.

I did get the chance to see Drift on Monday, although I'm not sure how much there is to say about it. I was expecting it to be a little more depressing based on the descriptions I'd read, so I was thankful for that. I was unfamiliar with the music, but enjoyed it a lot. Both the cast and audience seemed to be having a lot of fun. There were a lot of people, but I expected the back half of the place to be filled more. It seemed like a lot of the people there were connected to it somehow, and our table ended up being right above Jeremy's, so it was cool to see him reacting to it being performed. Jeremy got up at the end and sang the last song. I liked the music, but I'm not the biggest fan of Jeremy's voice, so I'm not sure I'd invest in the concept recording. The cast was great, though, and they looked like they were having a blast with each other performing it.

A major problem is the cast is all relatively unknowns.

I'll catch in when it comes out on dvd...Wait, no I won't - I never get dvds anymore. I'll watch it if it comes to OnDemand.

I'm not sure which is worse: Adam's facial hair or Tate Donovan's accent.

The facial hair is way less upsetting now that I have zero stake in trying to find him attractive. Also, LOL at the accent Tate. All in all, I feel like this would be a quality movie for me to mock.
