The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part 14, version 2.0

Akitarent's first thread got deleted, but in that one, he said Anthony told the audience it was highly likely. Then he twisted it when he reposted the information. So no, it's not set in stone yet. But at this point, it's probably pretty certain.

My feelings on it are mixed. Obviously, if they go, I wouldn't miss seeing them again for the world. And there are enough tour stops within driving distance that I'd be able to go. But... I feel like if it's going to end, it just needs to end. I just need it to be over already. Not this, "Rent is closing, but, there's still this one thing more..." stuff. Seeing them again would be great, and people all over the country will have the chance to witness the magic we did this summer, but at the same time, I feel like it'll just prolong the sadness. Closing will be sad, of course, but then with this yet to come, we'll just be waiting, anticipating the real ending. And that's selfish, I know, but hopefully it makes at least a little bit of sense. I'm a person who does well with closure.

To true Tink!

I'm just a bit confused right now, I mean if this is "true" and RENT is stopping in St.Paul...hmmmmmm it would be amazing to go and see. I'm just a bit suprised at how much avalibilty there are for seats right now as well, that's why I'm wondering if I should just get tickets now and not regret it later.

BTW how are you Tink/everyone else? I feel bad that I haven't been able to contribute to alot of the conversations here, being a Shakespeare play can do that to a kid The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part 14, version 2.0

To Emcee: I totally agree with you. If it does happen and I do get to see them then hey, it would be amazing. But like you said, there comes a time where things must end, and there needs to be some sort of closure for this you know?

Yeah. I mean, I would love for Rent to stay open a while longer; it's not that I want it to close. Nor am I saying all touring productions should stop and the show shouldn't live on in one form or another. It's just that if it's going to come to an end the way I know it, it might just be harder to still have one more little thing to go before it all ends. Then you're just waiting for it.

It's like the more the add (tours with A&A for example) the worse the blow will be for when it closes.

I'm well, brina, thanks for asking! Did you omit a word? I doubt you ARE a Shakespeare play, so I'm hoping it is IN a play, so tell us some details!

I'm 50/50 on the tour. More than me getting to see it again, I would be happy others would get to share in the magic. But then again, if Adam is going to devote that time to something, I'd rather it be something stationary in NYC that gives him a chance to do something different, but well, plaid pants how can I complain?

brina, the tour with Adam and Anthony wouldn't start until at least December. There's something about having to wait until the contract with the non-Equity tour backers expires before they can launch an Equity tour. There's also no guarantee which cities Adam and Anthony will go to; the market for Equity tours is much smaller than Equity tours because Equity has strict rules about venues. You should definitely see the tour in June; you'll have more than enough time to earn money for Adam/Anthony tour tickets.

Thanks for the update skittles, I kind of figured that the one in June wouldn't include A&A but would be the non-equity one instead. I'm still a bit iffy about getting tickets in June though. I know this will sound very strange to the New Yorker's on here, but I normally prefer to see a show once; I feel that if I see something more than that it may ruin the effect of the piece or not have as strong of an impact. But that's just my two cents.

And yes Tink, I did omit a few words! Actually, more than a few words more like 3 monologues and a page and a half of random b!tching The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part 14, version 2.0 I played the Lady Abbess in The Comedy of Errors, and we set the play in a Casablanca like 40's film noire. Everyone wore fedoras and cool trench coats, and I got to look like a nifty friar! It went so well, and the last two nights we performed for a full house. So Shakespeare and school have basically been my life for the past 2 months, fun stuff!

brina,good to see you back!

I think it would be great for people in other cities who weren't able to make it to New York this summer to see the show, but like Em said, it's almost like slowly pulling off a band aid. I am slightly interested to see who they get to round out the cast, especially since I've read in several places that this Equity tour would be an "All- Star" Rent cast. I missed the thread on the main board so I didn't see the exact details of how Anthony let the cat out of the bag, but I find it hard to believe that both he and Adam would let this slip without there being a very, very strong possibility that this was definitely going to happen.

Eh, there are also enough people out that there for whom the tour won't be "good enough". They couldn't make it to NYC to see Adam, but these are the same people that whine about how they CAN'T see the Rent tour, because they live in Dayton and the tour is only stopping in Cleveland, Cincinnati and Columbus. Or Adam and Anthony are SO IMPORTANT to them, but they couldn't make the 2-hour drive from Wilkes-Barre to NYC at any point this summer. Until Adam and Anthony perform Rent in the backyard of every single fan, they won't be satisfied with the conclusion.

I have a feeling the "all-star cast" will be very similar to the one on Broadway now.

Honestly, my feelings on them doing the tour are overwhelmingly negative. However, I know my parents will enjoy seeing them, so assuming the tour comes to Dayton, Cincinnati, or Columbus (god this sounds familiar...) I'm sure we will be going. Cleveland, however, is too damn far. The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part 14, version 2.0

I'm excited to see if Adam and Anthony decide to do the tour. i think it would be a good opportunity for those who couldnt travel to New York to see them earlier and i think a lot of their fans would appreciate it. i am going to see the tour in May so i hope it is a good cast...does anyone think the tour cast is good enough for me to drive 6 hours to see? i've heard that they are, i just wanted some more opinions...:)

With less than an hour to go in UCLA's 26-hour charity dance marathon, Anthony Barbir shook his hips, raised his hands high into the air and sang along to "We Are Family."

By Sunday afternoon, the 20-year-old world arts and cultures student had been on his feet for more than 25 hours . . . and with only an hour left in the fundraiser benefiting pediatric AIDS organizations, he had no plans to slow down.

"I feel like I could do it all again!" he yelled over the music. "It's been one of the best experiences of my life."

A benefit for pediatric AIDS activism and awareness, the marathon is in its seventh year at UCLA, and is among dozens of dance marathons for various causes at college campuses across the nation.

...........

Then there were community members, parents (Barbir's mother came from Northern California to support him), actors Jonathan Bennett of "Mean Girls" and Adam Pascal of "Rent," and youths who would directly benefit from the fundraiser.

hmmm, with the scruff, dark hair, and black button down - he looks similar to Chess days, and that makes me a happy Tink! But boo for that jacket making appearances again, lol!

I agree with your sentiment.

The only difference? In my opinion, Adam doesn't seem to have any ambitions towards actually having a career. A recent interview he gave pretty clearly indicated that he views his career moves as a means to an end, where the only end is a paycheck. I understand him wanting to provide for his family, but it's hard to sustain those paychecks if he alienates his fanbase. (Whether that be by releasing lame songs, or making exaggerated and cruel accusations towards a fan. Either way, I digress.)

...granted, I forget that Adam's the kind of guy with a core fanbase that will rationalize any behavior, no matter how wrongheaded. So I guess he'll be fine.
