so going back to "Rent," possibly twice now

Don't forget London, and the film. The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part 14, version 2.0

He's admitted to not working towards an acting career

Oh, he admits to not doing any movie or TV auditions. He thinks he can get enough unsolicited offers to justify a continued existence in LA. It's kind of cute, in a way.

I missed out on a good story it seems. Or are you talking about the website launch fiasco?

Different story. Long one, and not really mine to tell. I figured everyone knew, after I became privy to all the gossiping everyone here did behind said fan's back. (I don't think the people initially spreading the story thought it was gonna make its way to me. Everyone seems to think the matter of contention is them being fans of Adam and not them being nasty gossips. Oops.)

Adam's got he's fans but would they shell out $17,000 for a bear? The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part 14, version 2.0

Oh man. If they'd just got Clay to be Roger in Rent it totes wouldn't be closing! And a Roger bear with Pascal and Aiken signatures would go for like a million dollars!

Here, let this lull you to dreamland!

Plus, I might as well start the process of "post creepy pictures we say are pretty so we can change the subject so it's not awkward anymore!". It's nice of me to spare someone else that burden.

Oy. I honestly hoped that video was from one of Larry's old projects that Adam had nothing to do with. It brought back bad memories of recording songs with my children's choir when I was 10. I still know those songs backwards, forwards and inside out. Those poor kids are going to be counting to 12 (WTF is 12 supposed to mean?) for the rest of their lives to tune of this horrible song.

The fact that he brought in children to "tug at the heartstrings" or whatever other exploitative excuse there is doesn't cover up the fact that it's a pathetic attempt at "awareness" that has nothing to do with the environment and more about bringing attention to himself. Larry is just cashing in on the current post-Inconvenient Truth trend, where everyone and their mother is falling over themselves to out "green" each other. Um, doesn't he drive a luxury SUV? "We must change or else the world is going to end!" Way to contribute to its downfall, hypocrite. Actions speak louder than words.

These songs are too depressing to inspire any activism. Considering Will I Drown begins with "mouthbreathe mumble there's too much blood in the water, you cut your wrists mumble mumble mouthbreathe"... well, within a minute, you'll want to emulate the metaphorical suicide with a more literal one.

Wow, that video certainly was interesting. Let's just...bahh that song was BAD.

Anyway on the topic of old school chorus's when I was in 4th grade we sang the 50-nifty song; but it wasn't as bad as having to sing Skip-to-my-Lou in 5th while square dancing. That was a frickn' nightmare!

In my opinion, Adam doesn't seem to have any ambitions towards actually having a career. A recent interview he gave pretty clearly indicated that he views his career moves as a means to an end, where the only end is a paycheck. I understand him wanting to provide for his family, but it's hard to sustain those paychecks if he alienates his fanbase.

I was just thinking about this yesterday, actually. I'd like to think that he'd be passionate about something like, say, a revival of Chess, but at this point, I honestly don't know. It sounds lame and cliché to say, but it's sort of sad that it's no longer about the art, or even wanting to be a rockstar, but almost solely about how much money is involved. It sucks that Adam's not willing to put out effort to seek out projects that matter to him, since clearly the "I don't audition" philosophy hasn't been working out so well. I guess part of these musings are precipitated by the fact that it seems like there's not much Adam in Me and Larry so far. I don't know, maybe it's something you have to have a family to support to understand. (Also? I totally agree with the last part of the paragraph quoted above.)

On a slightly lighter note, I think that Adam and Larry are in serious competition with Lauren Molina for "worst song about global warming ever."

They brought in a children's choir?

Why is Larry so bent on global warming anyway? There are worse things to worry about. I wonder if Adam even cares about whether global warming is serious or not, but then again, if he doesn't that just shows how much influence Larry has.

I never thought global warming called for a metaphor involving suicide...it hasn't gotten that bad.

In 5th grade chorus we did this song called "The Fifty-Nifty United States." I still remember every word, including all the states in alphabetical order and what the melody was.

Hah, I had to sing that in elementary school, too. And to this day, I still remember the song, and can still recite the states in alphabetical order.

Well said.

A wise man once said, "let others inspire you, not influence" It is fine to look to others to develop a new way of expression but not at the expense of your own creativity.

Maybe the album should be called Me and Adam....

Aw, I wish I could do that. If I play the "name the states" game, I ALWAYS miss one.

When my roommate and I were at Colbert's Barnes & Noble signing, we took out a map (that didn't have the states names) and tried to name them all. When we saw Nebraska, we swore that they made something up and that the state didn't exist.

Though, my roommate memorized the presidents and the years of their terms for fun.

For me that's kind of what's most depressing about the new album, that it's not something Adam really cares about, he's just going along with it.

That's what I thought too, but after hearing things that he's said during this tour, I think he legitimately thinks the album's heading in the right direction and that he's really trying to make the best music he can. I just wish I liked it more. I've said it before, but I really wonder if his fans who love the new stuff would be digging it so much if it wasn't Adam. You can like the guy without thinking everything he touches is gold. And if he is in fact letting other people take charge, then I really don't know what to think. It seems like 2+ yrs is a lot of time to put into something you're not really into.

I know it's a struggle. Not just to like the music, but to stay in Adam's good graces. The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part 14, version 2.0

Well, at least someone (Larry) is getting something out of it. It's frustrating because Adam can write his own songs, and write meaningful ones if he wanted, but he's put that in the hands of someone else so that the new album is going to be...not Adam. Which is not good. If people assume that you are creating something (such as music) then it should have a lot of you in it, despite outside influences.

So much for my record. I got all the random states in the middle of nowhere first, and I couldn't figure out where to plop them.

Note to Adam: it's a bad sign when online geography games are more scintillating than current activities

Hi everyone. I'm back home a couple of days now after being in the hospital for five days. I'm still a bit foggy, so I hope what I'm writing makes sense. I haven't read everything you all posted recently, but one thing struck me regarding your concern over Adam's current main interest in making money. His wife was on strike and getting no salary for several months, so I imagine he was pretty much forced into that position. Now the writers' strike is over so she will presumably go back to getting a decent salary. Hopefully after a bit he'll be in a better position to do things he wants to do rather than just whatever gets him the most money.
