It's kind of bizarre that *Adam* would be the one telling the lies now, though. In Queens, he didn't say anything about signing autographs, and the security people, et al. were the ones causing all of the post-show confusion. If Adam tells people he'll sign and then doesn't (especially if he has no plans to -- changing his mind is another story), then that kind of saddens me. Not because he should, but just because I wish he'd be honest. He's perfectly entitled to decide not to do it, but... he shouldn't say he will if that's a possibilty. It just feeds into the same confusion fed into by the security people who send herds of fans from one door to another and back again. I don't care if he's disappointng people, but I just don't understand the benefit for anyone involved in not telling the truth. I don't really know why that's the option they'd choose to take in handling the fans. Saying no off the bat seems far more likely to stop people from hanging around, if that's their goal. Having them running around and screaming seems to be what they want to avoid, and rather what they *get* by confusing them.

Just wanted to say welcome to viola13. I'm sorry to hear about your experience, even if it had a positive ending. Again, I'm with Emcee and everyone else on the honesty issue. I don't want to make too bold of a statement considering there might be extenuating circumstances involved, but it really is unfortunate if he and/or his "people" have decided that dishonesty is the best policy.

I don't really know if I want to bring my poster again in an attempt to get it signed if it sounds like I'll have to run around like a 13-year-old girl to try to find him and probably not succeed anyway.

Yeah, I'm not sure about that. During the Q&A, at least 4 people asked for hugs/autographs, and he said quite clearly that he would be doing that next. As a result, nearly everyone stayed around afterwards. I don't know if the ushers or Adam scoped out the place and realized it would be a madhouse and then nixed it - or if Adam actually had no intention of coming out and was trying to pacify the crowd. Nevertheless, communication really needs to improve at these venues.

I'm glad the song might go up (and thanks for your description, Viola). I'm still kicking myself and my recorder for not getting it to work myself.

I think it's strange to think that he'd blatantly lie in everyone's face because I, at least, tend to think of him as, if nothing else, an honest person. Yes, I'm sure the girls are annoying as hell, but dude, don't lie. That's not cool.

Is it possible that he was only informed he would not be able to do a meet and greet after the show? He could have been mis-informed, as well, maybe?

It just seems bizarre for a theater to do that. They pay a lot more money to book him for a Q&A and meet and greet, so why not take advantage of all the money they spent? I suppose it's possible that it was getting too late, but other than that, I can't imagine why they'd nix the autograph session.

I'm obviously putting a bit too much thought into this.

That is very unlike him to, lie. But, come on, if you don't want to sign autographs just say that you will not be coming out, sorry. I mean, don't say that you are, and let a bunch of people look forward to meeting you.

Did anyone find any pictures from the concert? Well, at any rate, that 'tis a bit weird that he lied; but maybe he didn't feel comfortable going out into that type of crowd. I'd sure feel weird if I was in his shoes, having to sign autographs for people who would sing "Seasons of Love" in my face. Ah well, at least Ariella had fun at the concert! And welcome Viola13

My personal BEST Adam experience EVER!!!! I will update my journal soon and tell my tales, I'll post the link here. Sufice to say Adam actually called me one of his biggest fans, and no it wasnt a fat joke hehehehe.. I just wanted to say that the way I understood the autograph thing is that they got those people who asked for one to stay in the autotorium.

viola-I was at the Duke show as well. I suppose we have you and your friend to thank for the meet and greet after the concert! I was quite disappointed when we had waited for such a long time inside and Adam wasn't coming out, despite saying he would be. I was lucky enough to catch him right as he came outside. I just feel bad for those people who asked him for an autograph or picture during the Q&A and didn't realize he was outside afterwards. It didn't seem like Adam was eager to leave right after the Q&A and it didn't seem like the girls at the stagedoor were really fangirly either, so perhaps that helped in him coming out to sign as well.
