Thank you! I may even manage the concert minus gurney.
I'll have a nice long description up on Saturday.

Oh, sorry I didn't answer you Lexi! I am not going, but hopefully his next one in the NY area. Are there still tickets left for the feb. concert? Maybe I can make last minute plans.
EDIT: Where do you buy tickets on that site? I can't find them anywhere. I'm just curious as to what seats are left.
Do any of you have aim screen names? You can PM me if you want.

I'm scanning my Rent souvenir program right now (not a tenth as challenging as the RENT bible, but not half as cool) and this is the photo I just got done resizing and retouching.
So sweet and simple, like he's mentally writing a really bad lyric.
Hope you all enjoy your respective Adam concerts. :)

I'm at the website for the NJ show tickets, and when you try to click on the link to purchase them, it says that the event isn't available for sale. I'm assuming it's sold out, although I suppose you could try again later to make sure it isn't a website glitch. Sorry if you can't go.
And that's a great scan! I wish I had a tiny bit of graphical talent.

I doubt it is sold out. I would call the box office. Their system may be all screwy. This seems to be happeneing just after the site sold me wrong tickets.
I love the scan. I love him w/ facial hair!

Thanks for that link Lexi, although it still doesn't work. =/ I wasn't planning on going, but I was just wondering what seats were left. I'll catch him at his next one.
I am going to go to the tkts booth tomorrow..how much of a discount do you get on Company or A Chorus Line?
So I checked out the myspace page made for Goyband.... Adam looks REALLY skinny in the pictures, but still looks adorable. The page made me laugh hysterically! I would have been so in love with his character when I was in HS!
Has ACL been on TKTS regularly?
I don't even have a souvenir program. I'm such a bad Rent fan. It's one of those things I figured I'd buy one day before it closed, just for posterity sake. Of course, that was my plan with the windowcard until the the stupid marketing people decided to make ugly new ones and I couldn't get a real windowcard, just the poster of the windowcard, unless I wanted to pay $300 on eBay. Still, mine's signed by 11/15ths of the OBC, so I shouldn't complain now.
I was checking out that Voices for Rent thing, just out of curiosity sake, but you *have* to join to even be able to read basic information. I doubt I'll want to, I just want to try to figure out some of what their intent is with this and you can't get that from just a "JOIN NOW!" link. What's that Firefox add-on about generating fake emails to join websites?
Oh boy, I added the goyband myspace page, and this is the comment I got left:
"Hey baby. Glad to see you're my friend."
hahahaha, too funny!
Can someone please post a link to the Goyband myspece page? Thanks! :)

The goyband My Space Adam cracks me up:
I'm here (with my hot shirt) to put the stamp of sexy on your page.
Heh, I think my dad and I are going to try to get tickets to a show tomorrow. What, I don't know, but he says I should make a list and have a plan.
He watches too much 24.

Heh, that myspace page is hysterical.

The background picture is like a Bobby Starr Glamour Shot or something. Too funny!
Emcee, I can't even think of anything my dad would be willing to see. What are you thinking of?

The background shot is hot! =) I think it's cool how Adam's eyes look different colors in different pictures. In that pic they look green/brown.
We are seeing Spamalot in the afternoon, and then trying lotto for either Rent, Q, or Bee (haven't decided). Never did lotto before so this should be interesting. That's awesome that your Dad is going to go. I saw my first show ever with my Dad. Let us know what you pick!
Allie, he's totally fascinated by the novelty of rush tickets, so he wants me to get those. He really, really wants to see Jersey Boys, but we can't get there early enough tomorrow. He's never seen Les Miz, but would probably fall asleep. He's never seen Wicked, either, so we may try the lotto, or try for The Apple Tree because of Kristin Chenoweth. He also likes his famous people. I'm assuming that since it'll be pretty cold tomorrow, we'll come by tickets to something interesting. If all else fails, we'll end up at the Barrymore; I know we'll be able to get Company tickets. I really want my family to see it at some point anyway.
Em, I read on ATC that Raul is out this weekend, according to the box office.

Heh, my initial response is "well, scratch that," but I AM curious to see his stand-by. I saw him go on for Stokes in Man of La Mancha and he's really talented. I have a feeling he'll give a totally different take on Bobby, though. I think we'll skip it as an option since I'll be with my dad and I want him to see Raul.
I hope Raul's okay.
I got a comment back from "Bobby" too. Something like "I'm too sexy for my shirt". I'm too lazy to go check for the exact quote. It's a great extension of the humor from the original Goyband website. It has some great pictures of Adam as well.

And that shirt is pretty sexy.
The sailboats and surfboards?
Very nice. He should get some of those pictures with the wind blowing his shirt open; that'd be hilariously in-character.
Okay, so I just got back from the Platteville concert. Here's the description, and sorry for any typos.
The theater was typically small and intimate for Adam's venues, and I was worred there wasn't even going to be a full house, but people filed in at the last minute. The benefit of a college audience is the general lack of teenyboppers (pardon the generalization) screaming my ears off. I had cameras and all that junk, all of which would f*ck up in the course of the concert.
And of course, the most important news. Adam (when he and Larry finally came onstage) has a new look. His hair is seriously bleach-blond, like a sorter version of what he had in the flashbacks of the Rent movie. He was wearing decent jeans, a long-sleeved black shirt, and those black boot things. My dad was the first to comment how buff he looked.
Adam began the concert by speaking in some sort of crazy-British-gay man's intonation. Quite hilarious, but doubtless it will do nothing to dispel the rumors of questionable sexuality. Silly Adam. He seemed to have a bit of a cold - he was often clearing his throat and having trouble with his high belted notes. Nonetheless, he was in fine form and his falsetto was exceptionally beautiful tonight. He kept messing with his amp, and I swear he was practically waving his ass in those tight jeans at the audience.
So - the setlist. To the best of my memory, it was Beautiful Song, Book of Endings, See Me Shining, Maybe This Time, Maria, A Single Drop of You, Love Will Always Come Back (Larry), Just As I Am, I'm With You, One Song Glory, What I Did for Love as usual. He also played The World Cannot Wait, a song I know you guys in New York heard this fall. And there was a new addition I had never heard of before, called This Life. I have to say this was an incredible song that he and Larry sounded amazing on. Adam described it as being about hope, and I loved it. I can't cite any of the lyrics, but I hope you guys can hear it soon from someone whose camera/audio actually worked. Again, it must be said that Adam's music is going in a very positive direction.
Adam's commentary/stand-up routine - much of the same that we've already heard. His mouth was a little cleaner than at previous times during the concert itself, but he cut loose a little more at the Q&A. During Book of Endings (I think) he stepped on the mic and it swung up and hit him square in the face. He told the story of meeting Larrry ("you took my parking spot, you f*cking hippie"), which always seems to change slightly with each telling. On the subject of meeting Larry, he talked about New York gym showers and steam rooms. He warned us quite severely never to have sex in either location because he knew from personal experience it was awful. There was the usual heckling of late, leaving, or phone-toting audience members. Adam also seemed very keen on giving the audience advice, reassuring everyone about the struggles of life, relationships, and sexuality before Just As I Am. I can't say I'm opposed to "soapbox Adam" because he was so sincere about it. He went on a long tangent about how "even serial killers need love" and waxed quite lyrical on the subject. He introduced Maria with the usual "I hate WSS," reminiscing how once a man responded to that comment with an audible "F*ck you."
The Q&A after the show was interesting. The director of the theater started off with some pretty routine questions - the usual "how did you get Rent," "what were your band days like" before opening it up to the audience. Surprisingly, or not so depending on one's perspective, many of the questions were quite intelligent. Of course, someone asked him to light their candle, people asked for hugs, etc. He was asked for vocal advice, to which he responded "drink water," something he had learned from Anthony Rapp. I can't remember the initial question, but he related how he was trying to find a job in proofreading (!) before he got Rent. Apparently, he was always turned down, never got a call back from the companies to which he applied. But then, once Rent had tranferred to Broadway, the Tonys had already happened, he'd already gotten his Theatre World Award, one company called back and asked if he wanted a job. Luckily he was "busy." Adam described the way Mute (in its various incarnations) had failed. The audience cheered when he described himself as a 12-year-old Kurt Cobain wannabe in spandex pants. Adam replied the audience was in need of help if they got excited for 12-year-olds in spandex.
I asked him about Cabaret because I loved it so much and I wanted to tell him so (and I couldn't come up with anything else on the spot AND I wanted to ask him something). He spent a long time answering thoughtfully, as he did for most of the questions, and he does have the incredible ability to give you his undivided attention in spite of an auditorium full of people. Like, I actually felt as though we were having a conversation. Then my friend actually asked him to sing happy birthday to me, which he did in a ridiculous falsetto that kept cracking all over the place until he trailed off. He blew a kiss afterward, and I've never had happy birthday sung to me quite that way before.
Remember that rather sh*tty situation a bunch of you described last fall at the Queens theater (I think that was the one) where the chance to meet Adam after the concert turned into a total miscommunication? Complete repeat here. We all hung out after the show in the lobby, waiting to no avail. I was talking with Larry, but then a couple kids barged in and demanded that Larry find Adam in the most belligerent manner possible. Larry went to find Adam (apparently), but then he just disappeared. The crowd broke out into Seasons of Love while waiting. Eventually the ushers kicked everyone out, and we left the theater. Some of us made our way to the stagedoor, but the minute Adam and Larry emerged to get into the van, the ushers ordered us to leave. Luckily, my friend and I were able to shout our goodbyes and thank yous, and Adam wished me happy birthday again. It's hard not to be disappointed when Adam said he would do a meet and greet although I'm fully aware we're not entitled to anything.
My camera continually screwed up on me, but I'll try to post anything that turned out. The girl in front of me recorded the concert on a really high quality camera as did many others, so hopefully some clips will show up on the site which must not be named.
If I remember anything else, I'll post it.
Whoa, great post. Thanks!
Does his hair look... good? Heh. It sounds like it could go either way.
I know what you mean about how attentive he is. It's so kind. And you're right -- even if he sounds a little ridiculous when he's on his "soapbox," so to speak, you can tell it's because he's sincere and caring and has a big heart. It's so sweet that he sang to you!
Can you tell us a little bit more about what he said in response to your question about Cabaret (and what exactly you asked him, if you don't mind?) I'm really curious.
