Posted: 2/5/06 at 12:15pmMy computer at home stays on all the time (the monitor automatically shuts off after a certain period of inactivity, though), and my parents have no problem with that whatsoever. Yet for some reason they feel the need to shut off the cable box when they're not watching TV.

Posted: 2/5/06 at 12:15pmMy parents make people shut the computer down if no one is going to be on for awhile. I've never even seen their screensaver go on. I think the last time I shut my computer down was when I was bringing it to the library and I didn't want the battery to wear down on the way there- mine's on constantly.

I recently read somewhere that it costs about $5 a year if you leave your computer on all day and night, every day. I'm not sure how true it is, but if it is, that's really cool.
