After listening to the OBCR for a long time and then getting the soundtrack, I defidenly prefer the soundtrack. But, I still listen to the OBCR, I love Happy New Year

Good day all. Glad our 2am discussion last night amused you so much Adam Pascal - Thread #5!

OBCR vs Soundtrack

I still prefer the OBCR. I know the music sounds fuller on the soundtrack and everything, but after years of listening to the OBCR, it just sounds awkward and weird to have other people singing the songs and changing of the words. Another Day is my absolute favorite song from Rent and Adam's voice on the soundtrack just really bugs me during that song. And while I think Rosario was great in the movie and all, no one can replace Daphne.

Well, there's the Pot/Kettle slash.

Well, there is some drama stemming from the Rentsecrets LJ community, which led to some interesting pot/kettle discussions late last night Adam Pascal - Thread #5!

If any of you want to read an amazing dream that my friend had about Adam go to the last page of posts currently on the Welcome Anthony Rapp board. It's hillarious.

Good morning everyone. That's right yet again I slept! I'm so happy. It's raining though, which means I probably won't be able to drive over to the mall.
I like the OBCR for the same reasons, the missing songs, that's pretty much it, a lot of the music is pretty weak.
After last night, I think I'm in love with a pot, is that wrong?

Good, I thought I was the only one with these feelings. Is nice to know I have a place where I can feel comfortable with being a kettle who loves a pot.

I listened to the novie soundtrack exclusively for a very, very long time after I got it. I agree that the orchestrations are better, and I like the clarity of only using the eight-or-so voices for most of the songs. And then I listened to the OBCR and fell in love with it all over again, which is so nice. Christmas Bells is one of my favorite songs from the show so I really miss it on the movie soundtrack. Lately I switch, depending on which one I'm in the mood for.

I go back and forth between the OBCR and the soundtrack. When I listen to the soundtrack, I miss songs like Happy New Year and Christmas Bells. I like certain songs better on the soundtrack, but there are still some that I still like more on the OBCR.

I'm also in love with the beginning of Today 4 U and the ending of You'll See Boys on the OBCR.

I prefer the movie soundtrack by far. I miss Daphne's "Out Tonight," "Christmas Bells," and the other omitted songs to a lesser extent, but I feel the movie soundtrack is far superior in almost every way.

As some others have mentioned, the lackluster sound of the OBCR is disappointing. Also, I didn't notice it until I compared the OBCR with the soundtrack, but I think Adam uses his vibrato far too much on the OBCR. "Your Eyes" sounds very pretty on the OBCR, and his voice sounds clearer overall, but I still prefer his voice on the soundtrack. I think Idina's voice improved as well.

I'm also in love with the beginning of Today 4 U and the ending of You'll See Boys on the OBCR.

The beginning of "Today 4 U" on the OBCR makes me want to cry (in a bad way). It's so loud and obnoxious, and it sounds so dated to me. I agree regarding the ending of "You'll See" on the OBCR, though.

Well...Anthony and Adam made appearances in my dream last night/this morning. I was at a Yankees game...and they were both on the team? And I was sitting in those seats right on the side of the field. Then they started signing autographs, and I made them sign my AIDA book. Anthony signed one of the pages with a big picture of Sherie on it. o.O

Ew. I'd be annoyed if Anthony signed my Aida book (if I had one). It just doesn't match.

Hee. Harrassing people on Rent secrets is fun.
