Somehow I always make myself feel guilty when involved with drama.

Fangirl drama on here is more fun Adam Pascal - Thread #5!

I was too shy and retiring to be involved in any drama in high school.

Skittles, nice criticism of indiscriminate rumor-mongering. The tabloids have given everyone a bad example. I can remember when the type of stuff you see on the cover of People was considered trailer trash fodder. I think it's hard for some people to understand that these are real people's lives they're toying with.

Going back a few pages -

1. Blazing Saddles is my favorite movie of all time, period. I always laugh my butt off when I watch it. That and History of the World Pt. 1 would make hilarious musicals, I think. Especially with the Inquisition song in History of the World. Adam Pascal - Thread #5!

2. I found out that I'm off from school the day Rent comes out on DVD, so a friend and I are going to host an all-day Rent party, including the movie and ALL of the special features. Adam Pascal - Thread #5!

Yeah, with such a high percentage of female students, there was drama all the time at my high school. I usually wasn't directly involved, but there were so many times where one of my friends had problems with another one of my friends and I felt caught in the middle.

Ah, yes...immature guys. Story of my life. We considered the guys who lived next door to us in college "roomates" even though we didn't actually (thank goodness) share a room with them. I love them all dearly and they are wonderful people - but many a day we were stood up for meals or outings because they were playing Playstation or watching SpongeBob. Boys are so silly. :)

I signed up for an elective, not aware that there would only be 4 other girls in the class. And its mostly Senior guys, who are all VERY immature. Its a nightmare.

Guitargeek, I wish I could have a party, but I only have one friend that's a fan of Rent, and she'll be out of the country during the winter break. Adam Pascal - Thread #5!

I'm thinking of taking the day off and having a party all by myself! Why not pamper myself once in awhile?! I was lucky enough to have the day before Thanksgiving off so I didn't have to be *cough* sick. Adam Pascal - Thread #5!

Thanks, Chloe. I mean, I don't read People, or OK magazine, or whatever gossipy rags they have. I don't watch "Awesomely Bad Short Marriages" on VH1 or E! or anything. I just think the way the media picks apart these people's lives is disgusting, so I refuse to support it there.

It's like people have forgotten how to be a fan of a celebrity without completely trashing every aspect of their personal life.

guitargeek, I LOVE History of the World, Part 1. I remember making a group of my high school friends watch it one night when we were hanging out at someone's house, and I was so sad when most of them didn't like it and said they would never let me pick a movie again Adam Pascal - Thread #5! (the only one who "got it" was the boy I had a crush on at the time).

People is slowly becoming more and more like all the other disgusting tabloids, instead of the good stories they use to have.

That movie is fun. :) We convinced my AP Euro History teacher to let us watch it ... but 1/2 way through first period class, he realized he had been fooled about the movie's true usefulness in a history class. Booo.

I generally don't like the really gossipy celeb magazines (Us, Star, In Touch), but for some reason I become temporarily addicted during the summer and buy them every week - I think it's so that I would have something to talk about with my co-workers at my summer job.

JL, that's amazing that you got your history teacher to let you watch it in class, even if he changed his mind.

It took some very clever convincing. Too bad it was him and not a sub that day, then maybe we would have gotten away with it!

I try to avoid the personal stuff in People & the tabloids like the broken hearts and leaving people etc...There's a scene in "Notting Hill" where Julia Roberts' character is talking about how hard it is to be famous and I always thought that was probably pretty realistic - the world watching as you gain or lose a pound or a boyfriend...

A lot of the jokes in Mel Brooks movies go over my friends' heads. Most 14 year olds don't get that stuff. The first time I saw it, I was almost on the floor laughing while my friends were looking at each other.

"Don't get saucy with me, Bearnaise!"

They don't get jokes like that. I had to explain to them that Bearnaise is a type of sauce. Adam Pascal - Thread #5!

Going back a page or so, reading tabloids makes me die a little inside.

Tabloids are disgusting, but strangely addicting.

Okay, now I'm really curious. Could someone please provide me with the link for the rent secrets thing and the inapropos thing? I know it's been posted, but there are...fifty pages. Thanks!

Not wrong, CS. Gossip is a very strong natural human impulse, but it seems to have gotten out of control in our culture lately, in my opinion. But I look at that stuff sometimes myself.

But all the stuff that was discussed is in friends-locked posts, so you can only see the stuff they want you to see.
