It reads to me like it was directed at a girlfriend who was treating him like a trophy. I'm assuming he wrote the lyrics, but they sound like him to me.

Posted: 1/31/06 at 7:46pmI think I have that Mute song... those lyrics seems vaguely familiar. Hmm... (I was too distracted before, Chloe.)

That's okay, I know how fast things move, and a lot of posts aren't responded to.
Well, if anyone wants this song (and can walk me through sending it on iChat), let me know. I also have the second one with the really high note I mentioned.

Ooh, I do!
To send things on iChat, Chloe, just be in that person's box and go to "Buddies" --> Send File. The rest is self-explanatory.

Do all english teachers have a pact to make us read the same books all over the country? It's amazing how many books were on my reading list that you all have mentioned.
I took an awesome class last year that paired traditional literature they feed to high schoolers with more contemporary young adult lit so that people who didn't necessarily love or get the older stuff could notice paralleling themes and use the contemporary book to help understand the other. There are some awesome young adult books out there these days.

Total threadjacking...
But have any of you heard Dane Cook? He is so funny.

Heh, and what's really funny is that certain books tend to be read in certain grades.

my reading list sucks..there are hardly any good books *sigh* there are so many books i want to read that are not on the list. Last year we got to read any book we wanted and just had to write stuff about it..*sigh* the good ol' days. O well..at least my English teacher secretly keeps adding good books

My brother things Dane Cook is the funniest man in the history of the universe.
I can't say I get the appeal, but I'm not one for stand-up in general.

There's a list of recommened books for each grade to read. And, usually they pick off of it. I think the list makes it's way around.
The next book we are reading is The Awakening.
What's funny is that books I have/will read are banned in some schools. We had a list of the reasons why The Color Purple was banned in other schools...it was a good laugh.
Anyway...

I've seen some Dane Cook quotes, and they just seem too absurd to be really funny.
I remember reading this one book in freshman year of high school called The Sound of Waves, and I was shocked that we were reading it in school, considering the sexual content of the book.

Chloe, I honestly don't think I saw your post earlier. Anyway, I agree with your interpretation of it being directed at a woman who apparently didn't truly care for him and treated him like a "trophy," although I'm admittedly not the best at analyzing songs.
Does anyone know how much of the Mute lyrics Adam actually wrote?
On another note, I just found out that my mom is fine and nothing cancerous was detected. I'm really relieved.

I love Dane Cook.
If we're going to talk about stand-up comedy, I sort of like Mitch Hedburg.
