I love that kids are so freakin analytical about HP. 8 year olds will sit there and draw me huge digrams on the chalkboard about what they read and what it means ... so when people whine about it being "evil" literature or whatever I just blow them off. I mean, comeon it's making everyone read!
I have always felt like Dumbledore is too good to be true. Something has just always tugged at me, like he knows too much or something. It just doesn't feel right.

I was one of those kids, JLSatUD.
And I feel the same way about Dumbledore. He's like a Stepford Wife...except not.
Um...so when can we vote on BWW Idol (is too lazy to actually find out by *looking at* the thread).
Yes. 6th grade. I think my mom decided to read the book along with me, just to make sure I understood what was going on.
Heh. That's kind of a hectic day for Anthony if he has to wake up early for Tony Danza and then go to Syracuse.
It'll just be a fun, Anthony overload day for you guys.
The day of the first NYC signing is the day of the DVD release, so it's gonna be a Rent/Anthony overload too - not that I mind at all.
Hi again - I was a lit major, but all I read now are mysteries, the classic English ones from the thirties mostly. I think it's just so I can lie in bed and read about someone coming in from a cold drizzly night to sit in front of a fire with a hot cup of tea. My all time favorite writer is probably Jane Austen, though.
I'm listening to the Mute CD right now, and in the second song, Adam hits a falsetto note way up in soprano territory. It's probably a high F or G. He does really well with the high note in SOL too. I was remembering it as falsetto too, but it's really more of a belt.

I read my brother's 7th grade summer reading book before he did when I was in first grade. It was called Z for Zachariah. There was a nuclear war, and this girl's family all died and she was left all alone on their farm to take care of herself, until this guy with a radiation suit finds her. He eventually gets exposed to the radiation or something and goes crazy.
It's a good book, and I actually liked it in first grade, but I'm suprised I did, because I was so young.

Katt, I've gone back and read books as an adult that I read when I was little, and I can't believe some of the stuff I liked. Maybe when I was looking at it from a little kid's brain I was just seeing it differently.
That's why I love my job so much (librarian at an elem school). I get to interact with kids in such a neat way. The lady before me was older and totally a stereotypical librarian in every way. She had rules for EVERYTHING. I let them read what they want and then they actually trust me when I recommend something as opposed to putting it down purely because a grown up thinks they should read it. Of course, I also appreciate a good silly Captain Underpants story unlike most adults. :)

How does that contest work? Are they all *virtual* performances?
I'm glad you like being a librarian JL. That's what my mom did, and I practically lived there at times. Before the internet (don't faint, there actually was such a time), it was the only place to get the kind of information that's now there at a click of the mouse.

Ok...I'm going to plead insanity. The clips I just listened to are nothing like what I remembered.
A time before the internet? Never!
I will say, while I still love books, and the library...I do NOT miss having to go to the card catalog and flip through every dang card for the one book I wanted. Thank you technology!

does anyone have the Tick, Tick...BOOM! cast recording on their computer, that they could send me 'green green dress'. I'm making a CD with TTB and other songs as a surprise for my friend and I'm missing that song. Thanks!

Same here, the "express" flights. They take just as long as the normal flights, they just stick us on those dinky planes that are 3 seats across. with no headroom. Once, the plane didn't even have a bathroom.

SD, yes I am. What makes you ask? If it's about the Adam LJ thing, I blame Rent secrets for putting me in a snarky mood.
I was just wondering because I've seen you use the same avatar on LJ. Haha, I remember when I thought you flipped out on me for saying that I didn't find Kentertainment amusing.
Regarding Sirius: The description of him from the Pensive reminds me of someone I crushed on for literally ten years. Ugh.
Small planes freak me out. Maybe I feel like there's less chance of the plane crashing if there are more people or something, but I hate getting on the tiny planes like that. I was in a turbulent thunderstorm in one of those things once, and it was really frightening.
For me the most interesting Mute song is "Nothing Like Me." It reminds me a little of "Precious Little Meltdown."
Look at me.
Is this what you want?
What you get ain't what you see.
What you get may be nothing like me.
You think you know.
You think you got the balls to show
Everybody what they want to see.
I'll slam your head into this wall
Because you said that you've seen it all
Then tell your friends how cool I am.
I am a sacrificial lamb.
When I cut myself
Will you pay to see me bleed?
When I starve
Will you be the one to feed?
When I fall
Will you turn and leave?
I can paint you an illusion
Make it look like anything.
I'll be your lover, mother, father
Just tell me
Did I disappoint you?
Is this not what you asked for?
