Yeah, Skittles, it makes me so mad sometimes. Especially when I get called names and insulted. And my dad jokes about everything at the worst possible time. I was very upset that I couldn't get a ride to the talent show last night [haven't missed one since I was ten]. My parents couldn't take me because they were hosting the party at our house. My dad just kept joking "Ask your brother to take you". I had to keep telling him that it wasn't funny. My brother had a date and it was his fraternity party, so obviously he couldn't go. After the party, my dad says "Okay, I can take you now." He jokes all the time, and when I'm upset about something, it really makes me angry.

I love going to my "usual" websites, seeing tons of new posts, and reading them all.
I am SUCH a geek.
And thanks for the nice welcome backs! You're all too sweet.

I had to take Prednisone a lot when I was a kid. When I was in Middle School, I didn't GO to school while I was on it because I couldn't sit still.
Katt, that's not fun. It isn't easy when your parents have a totally different sense of humor than you do. I've got that issue ...It makes me upset because it makes me think they don't know me at all, and they should! They don't get that being "funny" makes it worse.
That's too bad dancinqueen bye
We never stay mad at each other really in our family. My dad will yell at me and then ten minutes later he'll act like everything is fine. It's kind of annoying really, because he'll talk to me like nothing happened and I'm like "Uh hello I'm still mad at you, you aren't supposed to be nice to me."
That's how things are in my family. My dad or I will throw a huge temper tantrum about something that gets my mom really upset, and 10 minutes later we'll be all happy and cheerful like nothing happened while she's still miserable.
gertrudejessalyn, I think that link I posted a couple of pages back may be of interest to you
I've met two famous people in the past year. With one of them, it was at a CD signing and I just pretty much forgot that I knew how to talk. With the other, it was a backstage meet & greet after a concert, and while I had known about it for a couple of weeks in advance and had mentally prepared a list of things I wanted to say/questions I wanted to ask, I wound up rambling and babbling a bit, but it was okay because the famous person in question is also the rambling babbling type.
CS, I'm glad you're back. Hope everything is OK.
SD, welcome back! We missed you. Threadjack to your heart's content!
Aww, iheartcheyenne, Greek architecture is pretty. I'm sure I probably would feel the same way as you if I had to study it, though.

Yeah my dad is weird. We can get in huge screaming matches, but at the same time he is SO immature it drives me completely crazy. He constantly does annoying things that a little brother or sister would do. Like pulling my hair, giving me Wet Willies [when he sticks his finger in his mouth and then his ear], and he makes up ridiculously annoying songs about me and sings them all the time.

sigh. parents.
Not much more I can add.
I got only enough for five days so that I won't have to wean myself off it, and he gave me a small dose because I'm tiny. He told me to take it with dinner tonight but in the morning for the rest of the days because it's going to make me very awake.
CS, you'll be very awake and talkin' like a Gilmore Girl! :)
at least you will be awake and get to talk to us longer
In my discussion section last week, we had to do this ice breaker that was one of those "Find someone that's done ___" One of them was "Met someone famous" but I couldn't really decide who I had met that was the most famous. I finally started saying "Hank Azaria and David Hyde Pierce" since they're the most mainstream.
My dad and I rarely fight, but when we do, it's awful, because we're basically the same person - loud, short-tempered, prone to saying outlandishly vicious things we don't really mean, and stubborn as all hell.

My dad and brother just got home. *sigh*
There goes my wonderful ten minutes of peace and quiet.
Skittles - that's tough. Cause of course your brain probably went elsewhere before those two. But when talkin' to the rest of the world ...
My only "famous" people have been baseball players. I'm usually ok, but with Mike Mussina I couldn't make words. I still cringe when thinking about it.
I miss Pretzel Golfish. There's milk in them now so I can't eat them anymore.
ohh..poor em
The really interesting thing I've come to find is that no family is perfect. Mine's pretty screwed up (seriously, we make even the worst soap opera families look gloriously normal), but I always thought that I was the only one. Family issues are just not something that you air out to people, sometimes not even to your closest friends. It was three years (and after the worst of it had blown over) before I finally opened up about some really important things with my best friend, and vice versa. And I'd always thought that her family was PERFECT. You just never know. Updated On: 1/22/06 at 07:36 PM
I've never heard of pretzel goldfish
My family is pretty nuts, but I tend not to dwell on it.
I think there might be goldfish in my pantry. You've now forced me to leave the couch and check!!! :)
They're yummy, you should buy some CS
