We have liquor stores here, where you can buy all of the hard stuff, but you can pretty much buy beer in most grocery stores.
Recently some of the pizza places around here started carrying beer, but it's only for take out. You can't drink it there. Bizarre rules.

I think Louisiana has a rule about selling hard liquor on Sundays, but not beer. And we sell both hard liquor and beer in gas stations and supermarkets.
I don't really know how well the rule is followed. Although I don't live there, I know that New Orleans certainly doesn't follow that rule.

I saw beer in Sbarro when I was in the city. I thought that was odd.
So Katt, I'm curious ... you've mentioned New Orleans and LA ... did you have to evacuate and/or are you back at home after the hurricane?
Liquor Control Board of Ontario. I've been to Florida, and my Roommate was in Rochester. We have separate beer stores, simply called The Beer Store.
oh and there's something with the wine in Canada too ... um ... it was initials ... I forget. We took a winery tour up there and got introduced to Ice Wine which is my favorite alcohol because it tastes nothing like alcohol. :) VQA? Something like that?

No, I live in Baton Rouge, which is north of New Orleans. We got very lucky. I sat in my house on the internet during the hurricane being freaked out by the trees swaying violently and praying that they didn't fall. Our power was only out for thirty minutes because we have underground powerlines, and our cable died for only about two days. Even the other side of the street had power outages for a few days, and other neighborhoods it was weeks. Our neighborhood wasn't too bad...a tree fell on someone's roof, a powerline fell, and there were leaves and branches EVERYWHERE. Actually, last time I checked, a few weeks ago, there was still a huge tree laying on the grass next to the sidewalk that still hadn't been moved.
Anyway, we had no school for a week, and when we finally did go back, we ended up getting about 100 new kids, from New Orleans, Metarie, and those places. Being as our school only had 1000 kids, it was a big deal. We got so used to having them around though...and they just went back home, and our school feels empty without them.
But I love New Orleans even though I don't live there so this year definitely hasn't been easy. There were times that I just couldn't stand hearing about it anymore. It was always on the news and there came a point where I would have to walk out of the room because I couldn't deal with it anymore.
I felt like our city really came together for a while though. Everyone was helping out and we all tried to do what we could. As stupid as it sounds, our LSU football games were a huge deal during the first few weeks. LSU football has always been huge in Baton Rouge, but the games seemed to be the only time where we could get our mind off of what was happening. Especially since the games kept getting postponed because of first Katrina, and then Rita.

I've got no clue, so I'll say sure. I don't really like wine. My dad would know he's got a wine room in our basement where he makes his own wine.
I can't even imagine what you all went through. I'm glad you are safe and out of harms way personally though! Our school got a lot of kids for awhile too who were staying with relatives and while I am glad they were able to return home I do miss them.
Is it summery weather in your neck of the woods this time of year? Or does it cool off?
What's even funnier about that icon, Mandi, is that I pretty much had that same thought in my head when I saw him do that on the Today show. :)

Oh yeah, the New Orleans people got sent all over the country. I could never imagine that...living in Louisiana one day, and then living in a place up north the next.
Right now the weather is in the 70s. There are a few really cold days in the winter here when it gets down to the 30s, but it's rare. Usually the weather varies from the 50s to the 70s in the winter. It varies though. It's weird because one weekend it might be in the 80s and then the next day it will be 30 degrees.
I remember when he did that! It was very rockstar of him.
I'm going to have a shower now. Don't have too much fun without me.

Of course he's a rockstar. He looks like he's going to take off though.

Suddenly im having visions of Adam taking off into the sky after you said that Mandi.
That was an interesting performance. Adam was all 'let me turn around and you guys can cheer for me' and poor Anthony just stood there singing the whole time.

*rummages through files to try to find that performance*
Adam has a good minute with nothing to do at the beginning of that song, what else is he supposed to do?
And they were flamingos, thats why I really love that performance

*is sad*
Now I'm going to have to go find it online so that I can watch it again.
I still have it on the DVR. I should really download it.
