I'm seriously hoping for Sold (Grundy County Auction) from one of the guys. I think that would be so great! Or Callin' Baton Rouge. Something to show off their vocal SPEED!
I know what you mean about the upbeat songs. Something more middle of the road, tempo-wise, might be a better bet. That's why I was thinking of Carolyn Dawn Johnson's Georgia. Or There Goes My Baby by Trisha Yearwood.

I just got into Brad Paisley this past summer, Alcohol and Celebrity are both hilarious.
I wonder what Adam's feelings are on country music. He's probably one of those "Ew, I hate country" people just because it's cool to hate country, even though they haven't really heard any of it.

Toby Keith is always fun, too. I always loved How Do You Like Me Know.
Some of the songs on Model Prisoner sound VERY influenced by country music. It makes me happy.

Wow, this is totally going to make me break back into my country music roots. And yeah, I'm sure that Adam hates country music. I mean, he's only just starting to embrace the fact that he's most famous as a Broadway performer.
I CAN'T STAND TOBY KEITH, though. If only for the whole uber-patriotic, conservative milking 9/11 for every last drop of sentiment thing that he (and, unfortunately, country music as a genre) pulled.

Adam's definitely a country music hater...he was a broadway musical hater until recently, wasn't he.

It looks like I'm the only one who doesn't exactly care for country! All of my friends like it and I feel so bad telling them to turn it off. It's one of those things I just can't stand -- honestly, it has nothing to do with "coolness," I'm just more of a rock 'n roll girl (and showtunes, apparently... what a mix!).
Edit: I guess Mandi's with me, too.

Posted: 1/25/06 at 7:58pmI like "This Kiss" by Faith Hill. Of course I bet that lots of people pick Faith songs to sing.

He didn't really HATE Broadway music, he was just picky about it. He says he doesn't like JCS, but he apparently has a fondness for Phantom, and some of the "big" shows.
I like some country, but as a general genre, I'm not too into it.

No, I didn't mean you, silly!
I was thinking of someone I knew personally that said that if you like country music, you must be a hick. Um, I grew up in a town that's twice the population of yours, thanks.

Posted: 1/25/06 at 7:59pmsiamese, I don't really like country music either, just a few songs by some of the more mainstream-skewing people. Then again, that's probably to be expected, having been born and raised in NYC, quite possibly the least country-ish place on earth.

Yeah, Allie, I thought "The One that Got Away" sounded VERY country from the moment I heard it. I tolerate the song 'cause it's Adam, but it's really not my cup of tea.
I wish he'd rock out a bit more on his solo albums, but I can't really complain as they're good regardless.

I don't know, you guys. If Adam is willing to play the harmonica on stage, and he seemed to be pretty into it, maybe he's not as resistant to country music as we think he is.
#5595Plaid Pants!
Posted: 1/25/06 at 8:06pmI thought I had the wrong song when I first heard the harmonica. It definitely has a country feel to it. I'm not really a fan of country music, I like the poppish-country stuff.

Heh, The One That Got Away is probably the only country song in history that makes lyrical reference to the A train

Someone on LJ made a post in the AP community saying that she heard Temptation was going to be released on DVD this year. I commented asking if she had any additional information. Really... why would they want to release it now? It totally flopped, right?
Edit: I say hi back to Nia! :)
