Posted: 4/2/06 at 4:38pmI'm going to be going out soon. One zip folder is uploading, but won't be finished before I leave. It'll take me some time for the rest, because there was a lot of rent press.

Take a picture of whichever one you pick!
Dress shopping was a nightmare for me. I just... had no idea what I wanted when I set out looking, which made it kind of hard. And I was reluctant to make a decision, because I was afraid of finding something else I liked once I committed. Just my non-committal nature.

Posted: 4/2/06 at 4:40pmI've promised myself that I won't re-download all the Rent press video to my new computer. It's so tempting, but I'm making a conscious effort to only save stuff I actually watch multiple times (e.g. Under Pressure, heh) to my computer.

Aww, Lexi. Moms and shopping tend not to mix well, at least in my experience, and I'm gonna let you in on a little secret about prom: It's never the amazing, incredible experience it's built up to be. The real fun is in the after-prom parties.
I'm going back to my regularly scheduled laundry/studying combo now. I can mess up my grades and my clothes at the same time! :-P
#256re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part nine
Posted: 4/2/06 at 4:41pmI did that too. I was down to two dresses, and I still feared that I would buy one and find something I liked better.

I just... wanted a really cute date. It's horrible and superficial, but I did, and I don't have one. I kind of miss my cute ex-bf. :-X I'm going to stop whining considering I should be happy I'm going at all.
Really, though? I just want all of this to be over so I can move to NY.
Em, that's actually an awesome idea. I'll have the stuff in case I ever feel the need to watch the cast sing Seasons of Love for the thousandth time, but I won't have fifty Rent press videos on my computer.

I'll be a b*tch and send you the links Lexi.
My prom dress was the first one I tried on. It was Cinderella-ish, so you know the appeal. It cost $300. My parents bought the dress, and I paid for all the extras.

Haha, Sarah. Um... thanks?
So excited for COLD CASE. I'm going to force myself to do my homework before it. I've been letting so much just pile up because I've become so lazy.

I went prom dress shopping with my mom and my sister. It was entirely too easy, I found one I really liked in the first store I went in, and my mom had a gift certificate there and store credit, so it ended up being only $90. My sister found her prom dress on her dinner break at work. Which is ridiculous, considering we're usually *horrible* when it comes to shopping, but we just got really really luck with prom shopping.

The main issue for me when I was shopping for a dress was that I didn't want something that looked like the typical prom dress. My mom was a bit upset because she wanted me to use the dress I had gotten for her 50th birthday party, which was very much the conventional prom-type dress, but she let me get a different dress for prom. The first dress I tried on was the dress I knew would be "the one," but I tried on a few others at that boutique just to make sure. It cost a little over $200 and because it wasn't too typical prom-dress, I was able to wear it another couple of times after prom.
As for the date issue, my limo was supposed to be everyone just going together as a big group of friends, and I wound up being the only one without a date. It kinda sucked, but I still had fun.

I also was really lucky...first one I tried on in the first store I seriously looked at. My mom made me try on a few others, just so we could be sure...but the entourage that came with me agreed on the first dress! Same place I actually found my graduation dress (we have white robes, so finding a white dress is LESS than thrilling as ya know, some 400 girls are looking for white dresses in the same area). It was a good day that day...
And yes, after prom parties are better than prom!

Posted: 4/2/06 at 4:55pmJ Crew had some really cute white dresses the last time I was there. I pointed them out to my sister and said that those would all be gone by the time June rolls around.

I got laryngitis for my after prom and spent most of the weekend sleeping. Then I had a half hour presentation on the Monday, it was really hard, I was shouting at the top of my lungs and nothing was coming out. It takes a lot out of you, especially if you're asthmatic.
I get to go dress shopping again soon for my cousin's wedding. I love dress shopping.

Posted: 4/2/06 at 4:58pmThat's the one thing I miss about high school...choir banquets and the like...a reason to get REALLY dressed up in formals with friends...

I always ooh and ahh over the pretty dresses when I'm in a store, but since they hardly have anything in my size and I already have dresses that I know look good on me for special occasions, I rarely end up buying new ones.
I was lucky that my high school had dark red robes so I didn't have to worry about what color outfit I wore underneath.

Posted: 4/2/06 at 5:01pmOur school has the girls wear white dresses for graduation. It actually kind of annoys me that like...everyone isn't wearing the same thing because all of the dresses are so different. I guess I'm just OCD like that.

I...got my period the day of prom. While I was getting my hair done. That was...memorable.
After prom was fun, but the best part was when we left and went driving around until sunrise, then went back to my friend's house. We watched 3 Rocky movies back to back and Enemy of the State, then I went home at like 10am. I babbled a mile a minute to my mom and sister about the night before for like half an hour, then went to my room and crashed until 5pm. When my dad came home and asked me why I was still sleeping. I distinctly remember slamming the door in his face.

My school goes from K-9, so we don't have prom & stuff like that. The biggest formal thing for the girls is the Mother Daughter Dinner, which is usually the highlight of the year. EVerybody basically wears cute Lilly Pulizter (sp?) dreses & those type of dresses. We have some dances, but those are usually costume themed.
Adam Related: This has been bugging me for awhile. Does Adam have a middle name? If so, what is it?

Right after prom, my whole limo went back to one girl's house to change into more casual clothes before going to a comedy club. After that, we went back to the house and partied all night - as in, I was the only sober person in the entire house. The next morning, we all had to stop by school to sign the attendance sheet, and then about half of us went to Six Flags for the rest of the day (nearly 2 years later, I'm still shocked that nobody had bad hangover-ish reactions to some of the rides, if ya know what I mean). That night, we went out for dinner in Manhattan and stayed at the hotel my dad manages. Since my 18th birthday was the next day, everyone surprised me with a cake. Once all of the prom craziness was over, I still had birthday presents waiting for me at home

This far into part nine already? Wow, you guys work fast! Not that that's a surprise.
I just got back from my awesome weekend in Cincinnati, so I guess I'm just hanging out at home for the night (and watching Cold Case with my mom!) before heading back to school tomorrow afternoon.
