Chloe, that's very good to know about Adam meeting with NY-based casting people.
I think I'll second Mandi's Internet hierarchy.

I tried to be nice and helpful on the Rent IMDb board, but after the movie was released... oy, too many headaches. Meh to LJ and Myspace.
Keep smiling, it makes people wonder what you're up to

Ugh, I have enough problems in my own school. I can't worry about the internet. The day after the movie released I had girls coming up to me telling me that Jonathan Larson died of AIDS and worked in the Life Cafe.

I've met a lot of people who also thought Jonathan Larson died of AIDS. Um...yea. *Headdesk*
Edit: Referring to the those who are Rent fans and insisted that he did. Sorry if I offended anyone who didn't know.

This one girl told me that our love of rent 'connects' us. How convenient is it that it connected us just in time for Anthony's book signing that she couldn't go to?
I'm like oh you cant go? THAT SUCKS.

In all honesty, before I knew anything about Rent, I thought the same thing. It's not until I started looking things up that I found out what really happened. It's easy for those of us who "know everything" to cringe at the ill-informed.

It was just kinda amusing because they know I'm obsessed and they were telling me as if I would be amazed at what they knew.

I'm fine with people who don't know things and ask questions. It just bothers me when they act like they know everything, when in reality, they don't know anything.

I can see that. I mean "I know so much about Rent" and yet they know nothing is annoying. I was just saying that some people truly don't know and are trying.

Someone once "informed me" that Jonathan Larson directed the movie Rent.
And I got into a small fight with my gym teacher when he said that Jonathan Larson died from AIDS.

I'm happy as long as they're trying.

We had to draw a ecosystem, and I was drawing the human in mine. So I drew Mark, with the glasses, sweater, scarf and everything, and then everyone in my group started yelling at me. Then she walked by and was like "Your OBSESSED!"
And someone recently "informed" me that Anthony was in the OBC, but played Roger.

Haha, on the last day of BIO before Christmas break we were playing hangman and I went up and said I was doing a movie and everyone starts yelling "RENT--it's RENT". I'm like NO ITS NOT RENT.
I could go on and on about how many stupid comments people have actually argued about on me (i.e taye diggs was not in the OBC).

Same here. Once upon a time, we were all newbies, and we sought out information instead of assuming that we didn't need to take the time to learn anything else. That's why I try to be nice to the newbies who at least seem capable of/willing to become better informed. However, the ones who are too cool for that can bite (or, since this is the Internet, byte) me.

Exactly BG, and because this is the internet, they can look things up. They obviously found this site, they can also find out if the OBC is not still in Rent.

You know what really bothers me for some reason..when people who have just discovered RENT from the movie say "it's not the same without the OBC"... yes the OBC was amazing, but clearly the show is still running 10 years later without the OBC. I didn't know who the OBC was until after I saw RENT and I still thought the show was good.

But can they find out if there are whales in Ottawa?

The movie isn't exactly the full OBC either. And also the Daphne/Rosario debate. I obviously haven't seen the OBC, and I didn't like Daphne when I first heard her. After finding out more about her, and listening to her more, I really enjoy her. I think she was no longer right for the role. But I'm not totally against her.

No one at my school really seems to care about RENT.
