"They're singing, "Happy Birthday"
You just wanna lay down and cry
Not just another birthday, it's 30/90
Why can't you stay 29
Hell, you still feel like you're 22
Turn 30 in 1990
Bang! You're dead, what can you do?"

I've really gotten into cooking this year. It's so much fun (except for that time I lit my chicken on fire)! I got a couple of great cookbooks for Christmas (Company's Coming - best books EVER), and I just joined the cooking community on LiveJournal. I'm going to attempt my mom's spaghetti sauce tomorrow afternoon.

I see no ads at all. They stopped working for me a couple of days ago. They're mostly ones for broadway though when they do show up. There was a ref with a whistle in his mouth, and the WWII woman power girl.

Oh. I get what you're talking about now. The town I live in for school is a university town, so they always have houses/rooms for rent with signs. It gets me excited everytime I see them.

Cooking sounds like it would be fun to do, and I love reading about food (I seriously buy Time Out New York every week just to drool over the restaurant reviews), but the most frequently used appliance in my kitchen is the telephone (perfect for making reservations or ordering Chinese food). It's probably for the best, considering that I follow the directions when microwaving food and it still explodes.

Haha, me too. I never knew that you had to put popcorn on a specific side until the day I burnt it. It smelled up my whole houose, it was disgusting. I hate when food explodes 'cause then you have to clean up the mess and my mom yells at me if I don't clean it right. It's so annoying.

For some reason, I can't bake, but I can cook dishes. I may get ambitious in the near future and try to make bread or rolls or something.
I screwed up my mother's "No Fail Biscuits" recipe when I first started cooking.
That was a great source of amusement for my family.

The things I make never turn out like my mother's, but they still taste good.
Case in point, two days ago I made a cake that fell apart as soon as I put the icing on it, and yet everyone said it tasted good.

My friend and I decided to make a cheesecake for our families. We didn't realize you had to bake it because it was 'Jello' brand, so we just put it in our fridge for an hour and then served it. Looking back, it was funny serving it to our parents..but at the time they were not happy about it. It tasted horrible. It was all mushy and un-cooked.

That's so funny Mel. It sounds like something that I would do.

After last night's stovetop popcorn adventure, I am NEVER going back to the microwave stuff!!
Ew, Mel, that's gross! I've had under-cooked cheesecake before. *gags*

I don't understand why I have no advertisements at all. It's just a big white box. Maybe Em's in charge of mine

Oy, poor Mandi. 4 papers in one weekend? And I thought it was bad when I had tests in all of my classes the same week.
