Posted: 6/30/06 at 5:39pmI never felt like I had that much of an accent, but when I was going to college on the west coast, someone came running down the hall and said "You HAVE to be from the east coast because your accent is decadent!" It confused me. :)

I supopse I have a "northern"/WASP-y (I live near so many WASP-like communities, it scares me) accent.
I just realized on the Adam Pascal Online Gallery, on the banner, there's a picture of Adam's orange necklace. =P

Posted: 6/30/06 at 5:51pmI have a midwestern accent. I was born in Michigan and I've lived in Illinois most of my life, about an hour away from Chicago. I'm very good at faking accents(from what people have told me) I'm very good at imitating others, so I can listen to someone talk and then talk just like they can.

I don't believe I have the typical Candian accent, but that does come out with certain phrases. I guess I'll have to get a second opinion in August
. But I do however pronounce words properly like "sorry" I guess that counts as an accent.

My dad had surgery today on his arm to have a birthmark removed, but it's been 4 hours and I haven't heard anything from my mom. I think she called and talked to my brother and sister, but I never answered the phone.
I had to go off my allergy meds the other day because I'm going to the allergist next week and I've been completely miserable all day. I'm getting ready to go out, but I'm so exhausted. And I'm in one of those moods where I hate all my clothes and just want to wear pajamas.
Sorry for the misplaced banalness, but I just didn't want to post it in that thread today.

Well, this is where we all used to bitch before the Banality Thread was invented, so I hardly think it matters.
On that note, I have been babysitting for the children of Satan.

Posted: 6/30/06 at 6:34pmHow could you skittles, this thread is never banal. The previous conversation about accents was completly about Adam. I hope everything's fine with your dad.

Gag. They just get worse and worse, nothing but snarkiness now.
ETA: well not 100%, there are a couple that are okay, but still...

Snarkiness? What does that mean?
I thought that Jesse L. Martin comic thing was kinda creative, I guess. The Anthony Rapp embryo thing was weird. But I loved the way that the Anthony-angel secret looked.

I decided to look it up, since I've never seen an actual definition and was just going by how I've seen others use it. The definition is exactly what I meant:
criticizing someone in an annoyed way and trying to hurt their feelings
You're right that there are some that are kind of cute or clever. I was just overwhelmed by the rest.

Posted: 6/30/06 at 10:56pmI'm starting to hate the Rentsecrets. Yes some of them are creative, but the others are just plain stupid.

Hey everyone.
They're getting worse.

I'm with you, Alex and Dancin.
Hi She, I like words too. Are you fluent in Spanish? I've always wondered what it would be like to be bilingual. When I tried to speak French (emphasis on the "tried"), I sometimes felt like it made me a slightly different person, just because of the assumptions built into the language.

Posted: 6/30/06 at 11:09pmI took French for 5 years and I can barely put a sentence together.

Posted: 6/30/06 at 11:12pmI just wish more language studies were conversation based. I took Spanish for years...and even though I can carry on a basic conversation and understand, I'm lost beyond very concentrated speaking. But conjugate verbs? I could do that for days...

I've always wondered at what point does one start to truly "think" in a language. I speak a bit of German, but I can't say that I've ever actually thought in that language. My former German teacher, on the other hand, actually has dreams in German.
Re: rentsecrets -- Cybele was a model? Someone posted that in the comments section, but other than wondering about that, I'm pretty indifferent to all the secrets.

I've never heard that she was a model before. It seems to me that between working at restaurants for fifteen years and pursuing her playwriting, she wouldn't have time for modeling.
My classes actually were conversation based, but I never got very good. Someone once explained to me that you can only become comfortable speaking a foreign language if you're willing to make a lot of mistakes for a while - which isn't me.
Just a note - the famous Today Show stretching pictures (otherwise known as Ballerina Adam) are available in HQ over at AP Online, along with a few other new things.

Posted: 6/30/06 at 11:29pmReally? Cybele was a model? I have no idea how she would have the time. I used to model when I was younger, and I had to drive to the city EVERYDAY. Maybe she just did it on the side?

Posted: 6/30/06 at 11:36pmI thought that #5 was a nice change, and #44 made me giggle at its silliness. Generally, though, I agree.

No, I don't think she was a model, that was probably a mistake. For one thing she doesn't photograph particularly well, and that's the number one criterion. It also just doesn't seem like the type of thing she'd be interested in.

Cybele seems like she would be an "OK" model. I agree that she doesn't photograph well, but she does have an amazing body.
Somebody also said on the Rent secrets that Adam made his kids find the spell-check on the computer.
