I used to be lactose intolerant, and I'd take a pill before eating ice cream, pizza, etc. to avoid the affects. If I ate dairy products without the pill, I'd have a terrible stomach ache. Now I rarely get sick from eating dairy products, and I only take the pill if I know I'm going to be eating a ridiculous amount of pizza or ice cream, like at a friend's birthday party once where we had pizza, ice cream cake, a second ice cream cake (one looking like the Rent playbill and the other looking like the Phantom playbill, hehe), and a crapload of candy.
Ironically, my mother is lactose intolerant, and that supposedly has nothing to do with the fact that I was born with the allergy.
Lactose intolerance is actually the norm for everyone except those of us from northern Europe. We've adapted to a dairy-heavy diet by retaining the enzyme for digesting lactose, while most people in the world lose it after being weaned from their mother's milk.
That's fascinating. It's amazing how much stuff is the effect of evolutionary factors.
Hey everybody! Just caught up w/ the thread. I think that red baseball cap is from when he was rehersing for the Actor's Fund, because its on the hat. I kinda like Adam's hair during his blonde phase aka on the Today Show & Life magazine photo shoot. I'm listening to the interview. She sounds so smart, informative, & formal. Well, I have to go now. Just wanted to tell everybody that I'm alive.
CS: 2 weeks ago, our school has trips week for the kids in grades 7-9. 9th grade (I'm in 8th, so I'm probably the youngest one here) gets a nice variety to choose from, & one group went to Canada (Quebec). SO i thought of you.
It's also interesting that a genetic anomaly like being lactose TOLERANT is treated as the norm by our society, just as pale skin, an adaptation to a the lack of sunlight in the northern hemisphere, is also treated as the norm.
That's really kind of cool!
Welcome back, picturetaker!

Interesting thoughts, Chloe.
I should probably mention that I finished listening to the interview. She exudes class, which is quite cool.
I seem to have really gotten on my soapbox today. Sorry if it was too much.
Angela, I didn't realize you were so young, which is a compliment.
Yes, I agree, Cybele is very classy, whereas Adam exudes sex. It reminds me of the famous quote about Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire attributed to Katharine Hepburn: "Fred gave Ginger class, and Ginger gave Fred sex."
THREADJACK: I went to my sister's band concert tonight and one of the kids who played percussion looked EXACTLY like Adam in the Rent movie. I said to my sister that I would want to date him if he wasn't 4 years younger than me. Her band also played a bunch of songs from Wicked and as much as I tried I couldn't help wanting to sing along. Sorry for the randomness, continue as usual. And Chloe, you made a remark about my av a few pages back. The pic is actually from my dance show last year. We did a James Bond dance and the begining was in silhouette. I'm the one on the right.

Frankly, once I started reading this thread and learning a bit more about her, I thought she seemed almost too intelligent for him. Now I think they seem like quite a cool couple.
Chloe, that quote reminds me of Swing Time and Shall We Dance.
They were the best. For a while a local station here would play Fred and Ginger movies on New Years. I still associate them with that time of year.
I think Cybele makes Adam more mysterious. I doubt if any of us could have guessed she was the kind of woman he would end up with.
ETA: Dancin, looks like you were in an interesting show.

Kinda negates the theory that he's a total pinhead, no?

Em, it's really funny that you wrote that with that avatar, lol.
Right, some more cognitive dissonance to go along with Adam's myspace.
Shiksa, have you seen 3Penny? If so, what did you think?

Am I the only one who thinks it's a bit weird that everyone commenting on YouTube on her Martha appearance are all, "Oh, Adam's kids are so cute!"? Um, hello, they're not just his kids, and the segment isn't about him. It's not unexpected, just unfortunate.
I could swear that there are a handful of people who comment on Adam's MySpace all the time... ? They tend to have display names such as "@ @) FELINE OF AVE B %*###" or something along those lines.
This thread is slow. I might have something to do with that, though. I'm watching a... certain something. Yes. ::zips lips::

A certain something?
I avoid Adam's Myspace unless I'm extremly bored.
We're quiet in general tonight. I'm not feeling overly chatty. :-/
I figured I would be more chatty tonight since my finals are over, but I'm just tired and worn-out. Plus my mom is coming to my dorm pretty early tomorrow to help me pack up some of my stuff before we go see Hot Feet (which I'm not exactly looking forward to seeing, but she really wants to see it and since she always talks about how going to shows with me makes her happy, it'll make me not feel as guilty about my botched attempt at shopping for a Mother's Day gift).

I'm awfully worn-out, too. I just feel like I have a never-ending pile of work to get to, but I still continue to put it off every day.
I've never heard of Hot Feet, Jessica.
I haven't been in this thread for awhile, heh. Oops.
Um... what the hell is going on in this picture?
picture
I can't see it.
Hmm... it's from a gig in '98. (3rd row, last picture) I know I've seen the pictures before, but that one is just odd.
Try this
Lexi, it's some sort of Earth Wind & Fire jukebox musical that got generally lousy reviews and will probably be long gone by the time you get to the city. Sometimes my mom has rather questionable taste.

Um, I think that's his "rocking out" face?
