re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part ten

I've just listened to the beginning of the No Trace intro you were mentioning, Lexi, and he talks about paying tribute to the people who influence us and who we grew up listening to, and some of the influences are subtle and some are overt, and this song is influenced by [totally can't tell, but the audience sort of goes "aw"] so the influence is overt.

I know he keeps talking after that but I haven't tried to decipher it yet.

Yeah, I thought he mentioned that he wrote it pre-MP after the talk about his influences, but now that I'm listening again, I think he says something about it being the last song (of the set), not something about his last album.

Well, either way, it was definitely written pre-9/11.

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part ten

I still need to get Model Prisoner again. I had it on this subscription music program I cancelled and the files I had saved there worked for months, but then they randomly stopped working. I did the same thing with Civilian, but that I replaced through iTunes. I like MP...but not enough to want to immediately replace it.

Just in case anyone cares, I got the music from my iPod all back on my computer. *collapses from relief*

I don't know where my copy of Model Prisoner is; I can never keep track of it between here and home, since my family only owns one copy of it. We have two copies of Civilian, between my brother and I, so I can keep on here, and he has his at home. I suppose I could burn him a copy of Model Prisoner, if he wants it that badly, but I'd kind of like to find mine, first. It's signed, too. :-/

I'm not the biggest MP fan either (save for Cellophane Sun and a couple others that I really adore), but I can send you the album if you'd like.

Damn, I wish I could figure out who he was citing as influencing the song. SPEAK UP, ADAM! I didn't hear anything about it being written before MP.

In the intro to Cellophane Sun, he definitely mentions writing it and the next song (which going by the numbering would be The One That Got Away) while sitting on a porch out in the woods. I can't make out much else though.

I can only play my Civilian CD. For some reason, the songs are really messed up on my computer.

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part ten

I thought I heard something about "my last album" (which would be Model Prisoner at the time of the concert), but now that I'm listening again, I was definitely wrong.

I can imagine those two songs being written on a porch. They sound airy, if that makes any sense. It also reminds me of the article where he mentioned that he spends most of his vacation days sitting on the porch.

He also apparently played a song called "Hiding My Eyes from You," which I'm not sure is the "official" title of the song or what the person labeling the concert gave it as a title. It reminded me of the line from Cellophane Sun, although it's hard for me to hear many of the lyrics.

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part ten

I haven't listened to the intro of that, but I assume it's another of his unrecorded songs, rather than a cover. There's also Mesmerized and Apology. Interesting that there are that many songs that he sang in public but didn't record.

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part ten

Searching for some of the lyrics doesn't yield any results, so it's definitely not a cover (or a really obscure one).

Additionally, I love Mesmerized, and I'm bitter that he never recorded it. Heh.

It's a really nice song.

Rentsecrets are up, for what that's worth. They're pretty blah this week, aside from the one about how the poster thinks it's okay to wait outside Adam's house.

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part ten

The one where the poster talks about how they slur his last name becasue they don't know how to pronounce it made me laugh. My friend claims to be his bigest fan and she pronounces it the first way like Pas-kul. It drives me crazy, but I feel too mean to correct her.

Me either. I've always said it correctly.

I can see why people expect it to be the same as "rascal." Only one letter is different. Maybe it's remembering Pascal's Triangle that makes the difference.

I love Pascal's Triangle!!! My math teacher taught it to us this year and I couldn't stop freaking out when he told us.

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part ten

Busy...finished my Maymester (start Summer I on Tuesday...while my parents lounge in Hawaii...so not fair), on the final leg of the job search...

Speaking of food, my (not so little) sister's 19th birthday is next week and she's requested an ice cream cake...should be interesting :)
