Oh, it was just reading, but my English teacher made us act it out. I got some compliments, though, which was a nice ego booster. Updated On: 6/11/06 at 01:24 AM
That's great. I remember doing that with Pygmalion and trying to have a Cockney accent for Eliza. It was probably atrocious but I was very proud at the time. It's a nice idea to read plays out loud.
It's especially nice being in a class where the students understand that Shakespeare is actually dialogue, not meaningless lines.

Sorry if I'm going back but, the Rent secrets are getting better. Anybody pumped for the Tonys tonight? (I probably don't need to ask since this is a Broadway site. =P
Eh, I'm not really into awards shows in general. I find them kind of excruciating to watch. Everyone else have a blast, though.
The two fansites both have updates today. A-p.com has a video interview with Adam on the Rent premiere red carpet in which he talks about the show fairly seriously. Then AP Online has some nice pictures from the set. I know I've seen at least a couple of them before, but not in this nice HQ format. Check them out during the commercials.
Thanks for the heads-up, Chloe. I'll definitely check them out.

Hi Chloe! Thanks for the heads-up. We read Pygmalion aloud and I also read Eliza's part. I'm afraid my accent was dreadful, though.
I'm watching the Tony's on and off. Sutton Foster is so amazing AND gorgeous.
She WAS amazing, Lexi! Wow. And lovely. I also loved Bob Martin's Man in the Chair.
Looks like Drowsy Chaperone is doing well tonight.
You're welcome, guys.
That's a funny coincidence. I didn't get to read her whole part, just a scene or two. Sutton seems like a very nice girl, in addition to being talented.

I watched the interview. I didn't think he said anything that he and other cast members haven't expressed before, but it was worth the minute I spent watching it regardless.
Ash, it's not fair. Women should not be allowed to be that beautiful AND that talented! I think she has a very natural beauty about her as well which is both rare and neat. I know that I always relate everything back to Chess and need to stop doing so, but I'll never be able to get her beautifully sung part from the end of You and I out of my head.
Michael is so creepy (but that performance was amazing).

I loved the Sweeney performance and how they decided to break up the songs for the medley. Michael and Patti were amazing.
I agree, Lexi... Sutton seems too perfect! I want to be her, or something.

This probably belongs in a different thread, but Ash, does Michael spit like that every time he sings that line?
I'd trade in my life for Sutton's in a second! Chloe, have you gotten around to watching her parts in Chess?
Michael spits a lot.
I liked his parenthetical aside about how there was really no subject in life to be afraid of. I don't think of Sutton as particularly beautiful, but she's certainly attractive in the best sense.
So Drowsy Chaperone is taking an early lead? (Maybe I should just turn on the damn show.)

Drowsy seems to have won quite a bit. You should turn it on and mute it during parts that don't interest you -- that's what I'm doing!
According to the people who've seen Sweeney from the front row, Michael spit is a regular part of the show.
Sorry, I missed your earlier question, Lexi. I've seen a little bit of the other parts of Chess, but haven't gone back to it yet. I'm mostly remembering Sutton's Chatterbox interview about Chess. She was very sweet.
I'm handicapped by the fact that I moved my computer away from the television so my living room wouldn't be so cluttered. I've got a tiny TV I could hook up here but it will take a little while.

That's disturbing, Ashley, but I love that he's so immersed in the role.
Oooh, Les Mis clip! Judy Kuhn and Frances Ruffelle! I love them. (sorry...)
Chloe, when you have a chance, listen to the end of You and I (it comes after Julia's song that follows Bangkok) and the beginning of The Deal (right after Pity the Child). I think both of those parts are just electric for whatever reason.
I haven't seen her Chess Chatterbox. Did she say anything especially interesting? I listened to some of Julia's, but grew somewhat bored of Seth just never shutting up! I like the man, but he needs to learn just to be quiet sometimes.
I'm getting really crappy reception on CBS, so it's a good thing my mom is taping the Tonys for me.

Jessica! I miss you, babe!
Awwww, Lexi. I feel like I've hardly been online lately since I'm at work all day during the week and I'm so tired when I get home.

I understand. I start working full-time next week, and I know I'm going to be dead tired by the end of the day. I'm honestly grateful to have a summer job at all, but you wouldn't believe how much standing on your feet all day drains you.
At least I get to sit down a good deal of the time, but I have to deal with a lot of repetitive work with data entry, lots of paper cuts from filing-related tasks, and freezing my ass off due to the office's overuse of air conditioning.
Yeah, working full-time on your feet is definitely tough. Last summer I was a clerk in a convenience store, and that was by far my least favorite aspect of the job. Anyway, it's nice to see you, Jessica!

and freezing my ass off due to the office's overuse of air conditioning.
Oooh, Jessica, that's the worst! Our Starbucks does the same thing. Also, I think standing on my feet all day wouldn't be quite so bad if I were allowed to wear supportive athletic shoes.
I'm getting a haircut and facial tomorrow morning. I'm pretty excited! It's a gift to myself for going through surgery, although I get the haircut free (I won it at post-prom).
