Greetings all. I'm bored. How is everyone?
I actually dreamt that I saw Adam somewhere and I remember thinking I was going to ask him to sing "You'll Never Lack Customers" for me, but I don't remember actually asking or his response.
Hi wrq. He does sing that line really well on the OBCR, though it otherwise seems like a kind of strange one to come up in your dreams.
Yeah.... the only reason I can imagine it coming up is that it's just classic Adam belt.
As for Tomorrow and the Sun.... that's one of those that I love because it's catchy, but that I've never been able to pinpoint lyrical meaning for, other than things that are really basic and generic.
Oh no, there's a perfect reason for it Chloe. See, when I saw the movie I realized I really missed that line. So then at Rent 10 as they were singing It's Beginning To Snow, I realized I was actually going to get to hear it...live...I was like spazzing out, so excited...and then they skipped it.
But, he did (and hit!) "Mimiiiii!" during the exchange between Mark and Roger.
I have no idea why when I saw the movie that that was the line I missed most. I just love how he like...ascends up to it, and it's so powerful and passionate. And well, true.
I think the note he reached for Glory might have been even higher than the Mimi notes.
Oh I see, that makes sense. And he did hit the "Mimi" very well. It's a tough one.
That reminds me of the casting director (I think) talking about how hard it was to find someone who looked the part of Roger and who could also "hit those damn notes."
Haha Chloe.
As long as he opens his eyes
Now I have that song stuck in my head! Thanks!
I think the note he's been hitting in Glory is falsetto, but I'd have to go back and double check the evidence. So, I guess it would be higher, but... less difficult? Or, more of a sure bet, anyway.
Falsetto? Yeah, I know instrument terms...not singing terms
I don't think that added high note on "gloryyyyy" was falsetto. Someone commented elsewhere that it was a B flat, but I have no way of checking that. I've also read that Roger's highest note is normally an A.

It's not falsetto. His normal range is at least up to C#, although certain circumstances can lower or alter his usual range, e.g. the jump between the preceeding note and the "will" in Enchantment Passing Through or lack of rest.
Wannabeinrent.com lists Roger's range as "up to A-flat," although Adam's addition of the higher note in Glory might extend that a bit. I generally can't pinpoint exact notes by ear, but it does sound higher than an A-flat to me. Chloe, do you know where someone labeled it as a B-flat? I suppose 12 years of piano lessons have made me oddly interested in vocal ranges and specific notes. If all else fails, I guess we could always ask the "badass homosexual alcoholic smoker."

It was near the end of the comments for the unmentionable version of that particular performance, on that popular site that must also not be mentioned here, Lexi. Hope that helps!
I think he took that note up a minor third from what it usually is. Unfortunately my pitch pipe is buried somewhere at work.

Hah. Oh. Speaking of that certain site, I just went to find the comment and came across another great video -- Adam singing Glory at Illinois Wesleyan University. I'm starting to wonder if he intentionally "forgets" the words to engage the audience in the song a bit more, but that seems unlike him.
Yeah, I kind of doubt it. He doesn't seem devious that way.
Now, I really should get to the gym. Please kick me out of here.

I'd provide you with some encouragement, but I'm probably not in the position to do so considering my lack of actual movement for the day. At least I went into work for a bit; that always makes me feel somewhat productive.
Hi, EponineAmneris. Like you, the two characters in your username are some of my favorites.
Hi EA, of course you can join. There are nine other threads like this, and the first three together have a total of 50,000 posts, before the thread limit was changed. So if you're ever looking for something to do...
It's great you got to see Adam in Rent, there are not many around here who can say that. Tell us all about it!
I'm off for a bit - see you later.

You can call me Lexi in here, if you'd like. This thread has more of a personal feel to it, although I understand why some prefer to still go by their usernames and call others by theirs as well.
You're certainly quite lucky to have seen the OBC of Rent and Aida (provided you saw the OBC of the latter). Do you have any special anecdotes to share? Have you ever gone to any of Adam's concerts?
I still don't know what a falsetto is.
Hi EA! Welcome! You are very lucky to have gotten the chance to see him in RENT and Aida, I didn't even know he existed untill last summer when I discovered there was a RENT movie being made. Lucky!
WickedRentq-Falsetto:A male voice in an upper register beyond its normal range.
It basically means they go into their head voice to be able to hit notes far above their normal range.
I thought I heard an Adam Pascal song on the radio today, and I was all excited. I then realized that he probably will never be played on Canadian radio, and it made me sad. All he needs is a music video with half-naked women and strobe lights, then he'll make it.
