ehhh, Harry Potter is a kids story, and Chris made a kid movie. He did fine.
*Sigh* I so wish I could have gone to the play tonight to see Adam! So jealouse of Em right now...
Which play? What?
I'm going to choose to ignore that first comment...
When are we not jealous of Em?

Holy Mother of God, I died a little bit tonight. And now, I am so in heaven. SO THERE.

But she died. She totally died.

Awaken, Emcee! You can't die, because then I won't get to hear all about iiiitttt. And you need to go watch the Out Tonight video!
Out Tonight rocks.
Anyway.
I got there at 4:30, and there was one other person. So, I plopped down. I was pacing in circles because I couldn't sit still, about to dial my phone, and I thought I saw Adam inside the second lobby, but it was hard to tell because of the reflection in the glass. Door opens, it's him. I wasn't going to say anything; he was going out to make a phone call. I was just going to smile and look away, or something. But he caught my eyes, and before I knew it, I just started talking. We both said hi at the same time, and then exchanged a bunch of various overlapping salutations. I was like "hey, how are you?!" but remained in my little student rush line corner. He came over and was like "what's goin' on? What are you doing?" I pointed at the sign and was like "oh, they're selling student rush." "hm?" "twenty five bucks!" Mild perplexed Adam look. Adam looks at the "student rush line" sign. "oh! F*ckin' A! I should've done that for my wife -- better than eighty!" I wanted to be like "honey, student" but I left it alone. Then I forgot how to speak, awkward silence, he got to the door. I smiled like a fool and was like "see ya." Then my mom called, so I told her about it. Even though she just said it was weird.
So, the show. Fabulous. All around. Hysterical, for the most part, and just huge huge HUGE acting talent. I'm too tired to go into it play by play, but I will later or in the morning on the main board.
Adam was FANTASTIC. He'll never outgrow some of his campy hand motions, but they worked. He played a womanizing, slightly boyish, slightly immature character called Roger, heh. He was the brother of three girls, all four stuck in a house during a hurricane, going through some of their old stuff. He did a nice little sailor gesture, flailed a bit when he whined at one of the sisters, "Winniiiiie!" etc. He danced with a teddy bear, and almost put on a plush bunny mask. He was being really silly up there, but his part did have some serious moments. I laughed so hard that I cried. I'm so proud of him. What a surprise.
After the show, we waited in the lobby. I was with some friends who wanted to meet him, and I wanted to tell him how great he was. Plus, I was like "damn, I forgot to wish him a happy birthday." So, I looked back for a second and there he was. Liotte was like "go, go get him." I caught his eye for a second, while he was still inside. As he was coming out, I gently tapped his arm and was like "hey, sorry -- I just wanted to tell you you were fantastic." He grabbed onto my hand as if to say "don't go anywhere, hold on," told the guy with him (ironically the man who set up the rush policy -- best guy ever!) something to the effect of finding him later I guess, and then turned back to me. He pulled a very perplexed me over and kissed my cheek, then said thank you. He came over to my friends, too, showered with compliments. Signed some things for them... I waited next to him, just sort of dead. We took a picture, and I said I think I closed my eyes. So we checked, and so did he. I told him "hey, so did you." "Really? F*CK that!" So we took another. Woo. And by then, people saw him and were hovering. He came back after doing all of the autographs and all to say good night to all of us. He said they probably aren't singing at Bloomingdale's tomorrow, and it probably will still happen if it rains. I still forgot to wish him a happy birthday, but it's okay.
All in all, I think I'm most proud that I finally got over myself and my nerves and just talked to him like a normal person. I'd been waiting so long to be subconsciously ready to do that. I expected that he'd be exhausted and antisocial, but he was so friendly. And, more than anything, it was beyond wonderful to have him back on stage again. The charisma the man exudes up there is like nothing anyone else can do.
I was just telling this all to my roommate, and I think this week will be five years since the first time I saw him perform. It was right around now, anyway. I remember people having birthday candles for him.
I'm not sleeping tonight. Totally. Not. Sleeping.

Emcee! Now I'm grinning like a fool! Sounds like a fantastic, fabulous, incredible time! I'm so happy for you, that you got to talk to him like you wanted to. *hugs* YAY!
This night was just so ridiculously perfect. Except for the rain. But you know what? I can deal with that!

Pfft, what's a little water? I can't wait to hear more about the show (shows?). I'm still not completely certain how the whole thing works. Did you get to see Anthony, too?
Yeah, we waited a while for him. I ran up and gave him a huge hug. I might as well have been high.

Hehe, I'm glad you saw the people you were hoping to. And I love your description of Adam's character. TOO funny!
I didn't realize that there was this full Out Tonight video. It needs to work for me NOW.
Where's that picture from, Allie?

I'm uploading it to Yousendit again, Emcee. Maybe it'll work from there. Ugh, lots of people have been having difficulties with this video!
I can't remember where the picture came from. Somebody found it... a bunch of pages back, I think. I think it's oldish. The page was a Rent award related one.
Thanks. I'm DYING.
OMG
EMCEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You finally "really" talked to him!
I'm so proud of you

I posted a new link on the thread on the main board, as well as tips on how I got it to play from the VH1 site.
SO FANTASTIC. I'm so happy for you, Emcee.
And I'm proud of Adam's acting chops. He just keeps on improving, doesn't he?
I totally can't wait for the RENT movie.

I just got a notice under my door (why at 1:30 in the morning, I have no idea...). It's a heavy weather warning for Hurricane Wilma. UGH.
*ducks for cover*
Haha, aww Emcee. Funny we're talking on aim and I just told you you were on a total high tonight. Seriously Adam threaders, as we said bye I looked at her and said...didn't you used to be really shy or something?
Well, I had my first Adam encounter tonight, w/ special help from Emcee ensuring he didn't get away before I made it down the stairs from slow ppl...shockingly got words out...told him he was great night, smiled widely and said aww thanks in a sincere manner and took a pic...considering as soon as he entered the stage I kinda jumped and was breathing heavy and all I could think was god I'm not gonna be able to get a word out to him, so I'm shocked and happy I did.
But yaay for Em. I missed the "moment" as I was stuck behind slow ppl in stairs, but heard all about it.

Ugh, rain.
Okay, since I'm not as giddy as some people I know, I'm off to bed! Try to get some sleep if you can, Emcee! I think the night before the movie opens, we'll ALL be here all night, not sleeping!
'Night!
