For those seeing Sweeney, let me know how it goes. I wouldn't say it's 'things-that-go-bump-in-the-night' creepy, Em. It's just creepy and disturbing. Throats-being-sliced-by-crazy-man kind of disturbing.
Hope you feel better soon, Em!
Well, that's even less fun. Crazy men with knives are worse than unknown things that go bump in the night. I don't even want to think about that right now.
*shrug* Whatever. I guess in a few weeks, once I start school again and realize I'm not totally doomed academically, and once I'm back in the city, away from my family, with things to wrap my mind around other than social drama.

Eek. I don't think Sweeney is for me. At ALL!
Well, you know you're surrounded with love here, right Em?
He is a crazy man with a knife, but for the most part he at least has a mission Then everyone loves their pies piping HOT!
*pats Emcee* I'm sorry you are so down, those things can be really rough. Being back in a regular routine will help a lot, if not we'll just have to drag some fun out of you
More or less, Allie. More or less.
I've gotten used to a lot of things, Penguin. And if there's anything that f*cks me up, it's change.
I'm listening to that interview again, and now Raul is crying - which I'm not going to handle well right now. I'm gonna go for a while, for real now.

*dejected wave*
Just caught up with the thread somewhat - sorry you're feeling down, Emcee. Feel better!
Thanks.

Wait, so the Sweeney remaster WILL have a normal orchestra?
Anyone still around?
Broadway Legend Joined: 11/2/04
The show probably WON'T have a full orchestra, but there hasn't been press on a final decision yet. That's not to say they won't bring one in for the recording, like the way the orchestra size was nearly doubled for the recording of Little Women. But you might want to check before you buy it - you may end up sticking with the "the original's always better" philosophy.

I'm not talking about the revival, I'm talking about the digitally remastered version of the Original Broadway Cast Recording. I always thought they just touched up the instrumentals, rather than removing them, but I could be wrong.
What have you been up to, Allie?
No, they wouldn't have removed anything, then. If there was a full orchestra for that production, there's no reason it shouldn't be at least that, and sounding better on the new recording. The revival is still in question. I thought you were talking about the revival, sorry; but I don't even know when that CD will be out, though apparently it IS happening.
edited because I can't f*cking spell.
Allie - you might just like it, despite my lovely description. It's my one of my favorites. I love SITPWG more, but... Sweeney Todd is brilliant.
nia, no, you're right. I think Em was talking about the new recording - I hadn't even realized a new recording was being made. That would be interesting to hear.

I'd like to have the new one too. But the OBC is going for half-price on cduniverse.com, so there is no reason not to buy it.
Other than my lack of money.
What is Sunday... George about? (too lazy to figure out acronyms)

I'm not up to much, Nia. Thinking about going to bed early. Well, before 1!
I don't know anything about Sweeney! Time for some research, me thinks.
Here. I've been looking myself, as I've been advised not to watch it with absolutely no background.
Synopsis-
George Seurat is a painter and Dot is his mistress. This play is about George's painting and his relationship with all that is around him, including that with dot. During the show he is painting "A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte."

It's about a painter, played by Inigo Montoya AKA Mandy Pantinkin, and his descendant - a sculptor - also played by Inigo Montoya AKA Mandy Pantinkin.

Thanks, Emcee.
It's Sunday in the Park with George, Nia. It's about this guy named George, who spends his Sundays in a park... painting. And then he kills his models... wait, no, that's not how it goes...

amasis, stop scaring me. If I see Raul kill people, I will be permanently traumatized.

Does his painting also earn him so little that he doesn't pay his rent and ends up defying natural forces just to spite everyone for that chandelier they threw at him?
No, he lives in the park and builds his own tent city.

Correct, Nia! But you forgot to mention that the plot revolves around Abba songs, and that there's a flying car.
Are we all clear now?
