Two newbies in one day?? Cool! Welcome JL..
"And that's what you get for taking AP Spanish.. "
Well, I also got college credit that I can't use because it doesn't correspond to any of my course requirements :-P
Did the Breakfast With The Arts thing ever wind up online somewhere? I'm getting the feeling that it didn't
Well, I also got college credit that I can't use because it doesn't correspond to any of my course requirements :-P
Um then what was the point?? hehehehe..
I dont know if it wound up online or not.. I'm sure someone has it some where.. Its just a matter of finding it
Well, when you take the classes, you don't know where you're going to go to college, or if where you end up going will accept them. So, you put yourself through hell on a gamble.
I know that.. I was totally teasing..
It's better to have it and not need it than the other way around..
I couldn't use the majority of my AP credits, either.
That really sucks.. You take all these AP classes with College and your future in mind and then they wind up not being applicable. It's always a possibility, but does anyone tell you that a head of time? No instead you kill yourself and find out way after the fact that it didn't really help your cause college wise.. Granted the knowledge is great and so it's not a complete waste.. But you get what I'm saying right?
Taking them also got me IN to college.
I understand that, and I'm not knocking the courses.. There are definately benefits to taking AP classes, no doubt about that.. i was just saying that it's frustrating to "get college credit" and then have it not be worth anything.. Part of the selling factor of AP classes is the credit..
That's because the truth it, most schools will allow you to do *something* with them. Even the Ivies.

*giggle* Ok. Subject change anyone? I had some really good watermelon earlier.
Thanks for the links, JL, though I think most of us have seen them already. This thread is so long I can't blame anyone for posting things twice.
In terms of being the end of the blogs, Adam was probably thinking that this was the last time the cast members would be recording things for the blog. All the stuff that's been found lately is from the junkets they did earlier.
yea no more APs and college. what shall we chat about?
books? anyone have any recommendations?
I haven't read anythign recently.. But I am looking forward to the Chronicles of Narnia movie.. Anyone else??

Woah. Guys. The movie is out. That just hit me. What are we gonna talk about now? *looks around nervously*
awww, Narnia. I feel like I should read the books first, though.
I think I read the lion, the witch, and wardrobe years ago. that is one of the narnia books, right? cuz I would be tres embarassed if it isn't.
Yeah, it is. I have it, but I've never read it.
Yes that's one of the books in the series.. The Second one to be precise, first one actually written though..
The books are an easy read.. I enjoy them.. I think I should re read them before the movie..

I read all the books in third grade and don't remember anything about them...except a unicorn. But other than that, it's a blur.
I just had my chuckle for the day. I was speaking to my mother about trying to get her back into the city to see a show. To which she replied that she'd rather not (She hate's NYC. Sometimes I think we're not related.), but Sweeny Todd looks very good. And I started talking about Michael Cerveris and how wonderful I think he is and she goes I know that from some place name. So I started listing shows he's been in and when I hit the fact he played Tommy in "The Who's Tommy", she goes "Oh my god! He's the guy who was spitting all over the place when Dad and I were in the 3rd row for that show!" Thought I'd share. I find it especially interesting because I was 4 at the time when they saw the show :|
Funny the things you remember...
Yeah, The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe is the first book in the Narnia series. I read it and I liked it well enough, but I didn't like it enough to seek out the rest of the series.
Ahh, book recommendations! Since I pretty much devour the written word any chance I get (I've sometimes even stopped by the bookstore before a class I know will be boring so that I can pick up something to keep my mind awake), I could go on all day. For starters, "A Tree Grows in Brooklyn." I can still remember crying like a baby at the end, which is something that rarely happens with me. One of the more interesting non-fiction books I've read recently is "Everything Bad Is Good for You: How Today's Popular Culture Is Actually Making Us Smarter" by Steven Johnson. It's a look into how today's TV shows, video games, the Internet put the mind to work in ways that the pop culture of the past didn't.
I saw a concert staging of A Tree Grows in Brooklyn last year, and I've been wanting to read the book ever since. My mom has it, I just keep forgetting to borrow it from her.

I just recently revisited To Kill A Mockingbird. What a book, I didn't remember it being as good the first time. I'm partial to classics as well, The Picture Of Dorian Gray is one of my favorites. :)
The Picture of Dorian Gray is my FAVORITE BOOK EVER.
