Nia, I said: Yes I speak Yiddish. I cna understand more than I can speak, but I can speak pretty well. My mom teaches Yiddish.

The mom/Rent thing is scary! I think I'd rather my mom stay uninterested. Especially since she can't carry a tune in a bucket.

REALLY? Wow! I've never actually met a Canadian Degrassi fan before. And your tv networks don't cut episodes, either. I'm looking into buying the DVD set of the original series, but Borders wants 70 bucks for it, and I don't have that much money.

Cool, Elphie. Where does she teach Yiddish? And do you have any tips for learning a language? I'm not so good at Spanish, but I'm taking a difficult course in it.

She used to teach at Duke, but now she just teaches in the summer at a program at NYU. That's why I get to go to NYC for the summers.

Hmmm, tips? I don't know. I grew up hearing it, so it's pretty natural, but you really just have to use the language. My speaking skills are not stellar because I don't use it often enough. I understand almost everything, though. So, moral of story: PRACTICE SPEAKING.
