I made my dad take me to all the electronic stores so I could find a stereo. I saw the same one that I loved at every store, I just couldn't afford it. He finally allowed me to pay him back once the government gives me my GST cheque. (the taxes they took off me while I was working).

It's the reason I don't have an MP3 player yet. I can't make up my mind. And then Christmas passed, and since I hadn't picked one out, I didn't get one!
I AM getting a cell phone soon, though! As soon as it comes in to the store, it's MINE. It was supposed to be in at the beginning of last week, but the orders got screwed up. I am SO excited!
The interesting thing about cell phones is that once you've had one for a while, it becomes completely mind-boggling how you ever made it through without one. How did people find each other in crowds, for example? Whatever did you do if your car broke down? I don't even remember, and I've only had a cell phone for a little over a year.
Congrats on getting one!

I hate getting stuck places with no way to contact people, so I decided I needed to get a phone!
*crosses fingers for a Monday arrival*
doh ... I just slept through another Saturday morning!
I love Price Club / Costco / BJ's. I alsos love Walmart and Target cause stuff is cheap enough to fill up a whole cart and leave for less than 50 bucks. And now that my Walmart is a Super Walmart it made grocery shopping so darn cheap. The 1/2 gallon of OJ is 4 bucks at my grocery store and $1.50 at my walmart!!!
And those of you who were annoyed at the drinking friends thing last night ... sadly I've found that it doesn't change. I have coworkers who get babysitters for the kids so they can go out drinking. I even have coworkers with kids approaching driving age that joke about having their kids come pick them up.
yay cellphones, have fun with ur new phone =).
So I saw Brokeback Mountain.. that sex scene, omg.

Ahhh, Super Wal-Mart?! I'm so jealous!
Eek, every summer, there's a big outdoor festival in my hometown, complete with the "beer garden". Basically a big tent under which you watch local bands, hang out, and have a little fun. It was kind of exciting this past summer, because my friends and I were were finally of age and could get in. We went one night, and my friend was like, "Hey, isn't that your mom?" It was. And she was pretty drunk. I was like, "Oh GOD, let's go." But my friends had to go over and say hi. We ended up hanging out with her and her friends, and my friends had a blast dancing with her. It was one of the weirdest nights out I've had, but it was a lot of fun.
I think Mom was pretty embarrassed afterward, though. It was the one and only time I've seen my mother like that, and it was definitely enough! But even moms need to cut loose, right?
My dad had his 50th birthday party back in October. And half of the people there (my dad's friends and our neighbours) were pretty drunk, including my dad. I made the mistake of having three screwdrivers, so I was pretty tipsy, and really embarrassed, I just tried to sit still for most of it. I make it a point not to have drinks in front of the neighbours anymore.
Ah, cell phones. My mom has had one for at least 10 years (back when they were all big and bulky), but the rest of my family didn't get them until after 9/11. I'm not quite at the how-did-I-ever-live-without-one point (I really dislike/get nervous about talking on the phone in general, so I only use it when I really have to), but it certainly is convenient to have. Of course, it's also yet another thing for my mom and I to fight about - my mom charges her phone every night, while I wait until the battery dies to charge mine because that's better for the battery life. Despite what it says in the instruction manual and what a person at the T-Mobile store told us, my mom continues to insist that I'm wrong and yells about how I won't be able to use my phone when I need it if I insist on letting the battery run out before recharging. I upgraded to a new phone a few months ago mainly because it was capable of playing higher-quality ringtones, only to find that the Internet service it uses to download them won't work. I know I should call customer service to figure out how to fix it, but I hate having to do that.
While we're on the subject of parents getting drunk, we threw my dad a surprise party for his 49th birthday back in October at his favorite restaurant. A couple of hours into the party, he was tipsy enough to think climbing on top of the bar and dancing was a good idea. Someone yelled at him to get down before he broke the bar, and he jumped. He broke his ankle and had to wear a cast up to his knee for 10 weeks.

Oh my GOD, at a restaurant? Smart move, Dad, heh.
Anyway, it's almost 3:00, and I haven't done anything productive today, so I'm going to go. Talk to you guys later!
It happened at a restaurant where he eats pretty much every day and he's good friends with the owner and manager, so it's not quite as bad as it sounds. When my dad got his cast off, the manager made a joke about Dad doing a cement footprint for a commemorative plaque to hang on the wall by the spot he jumped from
Later, Allie.
My family goes to Costco, but we still call it Price Club. I love the candy aisle- you can get this huge box of Ferrier Rocher chocolates for like $10. My mom sends them to me at school because they're my absolute favorite.
My parents don't drink ever, so I don't have to worry about embarassing experiences like that. They don't have anything against it, it's just (as I learned the hard way) my family is genetically the biggest lightweights ever, so they just avoid it as a precaution. :/
i dont like walmart and costco. but whenever i go to costco i just spend the entire time playing the guitar they normally have out to play. its fun :)

You sound like my brother, opiv. He goes to our local music shop, stays there 4 hours, doesn't buy a thing, just plays on their guitars. But he's a loyal customer, and everyone knows him, so he's welcome.
stupid guitars are always out of tune and missing a string or something. i like going to regular grocery stores though. theres just something about costco i dont like
My mom is very much a lightweight, and while it takes a hell of a lot to get my dad drunk, a few drinks will certainly intensify qualities that are already there (inability to stay quiet for more than 30 seconds, need to be life of the party/center of attention). It's probably for the best that I'm not interested in drinking, because that genetic combination could be quite problematic.
When it comes to clothes shopping, my options tend to be a bit limited since I wear a rather difficult-to-find size. Fortunately, there's this one store in the mall that's 10 minutes from my house where nearly everything fits me.
Hey everyone!
going for a tap audition! wish me luck

Good luck!
BG: Heh, my mom and dad only need about two glasses of wine to turn bright red. So drinking won't exactly be my thing, I'm guessing, once I come of age.
About the clothing, I'm a size 0, which isn't quite a popular size in most department stores. I can hardly find a pair of pants that fit me. But the good thing is that since I think I've stopped growing, I can just keep the pants I have.

I feel your pain, Cheez Whiz. I can fit into a size 3 or 4 in pants, but I hate wearing them if they're too tight and they are always much too short. I usually buy 5s or 7s and have my mother take them in.
We don't have one of these costco things, which suprises me. I do LOVE Target though.

I love Target, too, but I have yet to discover a Junior's section.
Yeah, and if I can find pants that fit, they're about 5 inches too long. They expect everyone to be Oh My God Supermodel.
But luckily my mom is a master at sewing, so she hems everything for me.
Good luck, iheartcheyenne!
Cheez Whiz, I'm a size 00 and most of the department stores near me don't carry anything smaller than a 3. Sometimes they might have a 1 or a 0, but those are still too big for me. However, there's this store called 5-7-9 that has a lot of stuff in the small sizes, and they have one in the mall closest to my house. I do almost all of my clothes shopping there. I'm not sure if they have one in the Boston area, but you can try entering your zip code in their store locator ( http://www.579.com/locations/index.shtml ) and see if anything comes up.

BG, you are awesome.
Oh dear, but the closest store is 28 miles away, and I doubt my mom would be willing to drive that far for clothes.
Dammit. I can't see BBM tonight because I have to go to my cousins' house to see the Redskins' playoff game. Would see it on a Sunday after church completely sacrelidgious, or should I wait until Monday?
Hi everyone! I've lurked around here quite a bit, but I've never actually posted, so here goes!
I finally got around to getting Civilian today...let me just say that I can't stop listening to it! In the car, on the computer...I can't get enough of it! I think my favorite song is "10,000 Miles."
