I have to be the only person ever who really didn't care for The Lion King.
I saw The Lion King on tour and didn't really get the huge deal either. Maybe it's more spectacular on Broadway.
I'm going to NYC in March and seeing Sweeney Todd and.... whatever I can get tickets to day-of-show, which over spring break is a bit worrisome. I'm probably going to try for some of the less insanely popular shows, but even then I might only be seeing Sweeney.
Nah, I didn't like it that much. I mean...the sets and costumes were pretty cool...but I just thought it was boring.

That's really interesting about the movie poster. I guess the whole taped-up look is meant to evoke the idea of a concert flyer/poster being taped up somewhere, the same way that those swirly effects in the background of the Mark section of the poster look sort of like film strips.
I saw the Lion King a while back, probably not long after it opened. I remember really liking it back then even though it was pretty different from the movie, but the only part of it that I can vividly recall is some of the characters marching through the aisles of the theater. I wonder if I'd like it if I saw it now or if I'm too old for it to really hold my interest - I saw Beauty And The Beast a few months ago and as much as I tried to see it through the same eyes as I did when I first saw it 10 years ago, there were some points where I just couldn't.
I'm seeing quite a few shows with my mom over the next few months - RENT this Saturday, Jersey Boys and Barefoot In The Park over spring break, and Tarzan in May. I'm also going to really try to make a point of seeing more shows this semester - I feel like I'm not taking advantage enough of living in the city and being able to see a show pretty much whenever I feel like it.
I've heard the soundtrack to the Lion King and I wasn't much of a fan of it.
I'm hopefully seeing Wicked when it comes to Toronto in October.
About the poster. The picture on the bottom of his shirt is missing its top half.
I definitely don't take advantage of living in NYC. My mission for the next couple of months is: Rent (with Will Chase), Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Jersey Boys, and Barefoot in the Park - and I want to see all of these with lotto/student rush tickets.
I saw The Lion King when I was very young (I think I was , and since it was my first real Broadway show, I was mezmerized. Thinking back to it, the costumes and everything really were amazing, but then again, it wasn't the most incredible thing in the world.
ETA: About the Roger poster thing...maybe I'm over-analyzing it, since I tend to be analytical with most things, but maybe it's supposed to symbolize him putting his life back together after the tragedy he went through, taping it together piece by piece. *shrug*
Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get tickets to see Will. I got tickets for March 12. Anyone know who is going to be the next Roger?
Everyone NEEDS to see Will in Rent. And hopefully you'll get Haven too. Both amazing.
I'm hoping in the Spring I can go back to the city and see something.
It's always been a goal of mine to one day go to New York City and see a Broadway show.
This is Tim Howar:
I think he's contracted through June or July.
He's gonna be the next Roger? Hmm, never heard of him. Maybe Google can help me...he'd better be good. Well, as long as I get Matt Caplan, I'll be satisfied.
It's either probably going to be some swing member who gets promoted to the role (in which case, they'll probably start testing someone out and we'd notice), promoting someone from previous tours, or like Tim Howar, someone completely new.

That was a very general statement fantab. I've heard that that one dude Justin Brill was pretty good. We shall see.
I'm going to see Rent again in Feb. i'll let you know how he is! I hope he is good! *wishes Adam magically apears on the stage in feb*
Do any of you have AOL? I was just reading Cybele's bio with the cookbook and it mentions a weekly romance advice column on AOL Teens. Not that I'm a teen needing weekly romance advice, but why not take my time wasting and random knowledge gathering just one step further??

Guitargeek, you want to see Caplan? He's kind of on the irritating side...
Actually, Matt was good when I saw him. I think Will calmed him down a bit. Goodbye Love made me a bit mental, but other than that, he was ok.
JLS - i have AOL, and that is not something I've ever noticed.

That's good to hear! I saw him with Shields and basically wanted to tell him to shut up for the entire show. He seemed like he was trying to be funny but failed. What the hell is up with him pushing his glasses up compulsively? Haha.
THAT is something that will never change. He does it all the time.
I like Matt Caplan. I'll be seeing him in eleven days.. that is if i dont get an understudy, but I am looking forward to seeing a new Mark since I'v seen his Mark four times, hes the only Mark I've ever had.
I've seen Matt and Drew Lachey as Mark. Matt is by far better than Drew was, although he was good.
