Oh, that's fantastic, Emcee! Mr. Esparza really sounds like a sweet guy.
Ahhh! Luckyluckylucky! If only he had been there the night that I saw it! I probably won't get back to New York until next year at the earliest. That does sound like a good end to a week.
Well, he apparently had a bug up his ass for quite a while. I don't know if he's got rid of it, or if we just got lucky by virtue of the laws of probability.
But we're all glad to read your stories, Emcee, so keep 'em coming! I'm glad you got Raul at the stage door in a better mood.
Just dropping in with a small question/suggestion - is it a good idea to have posted on here the name of the town that Adam evidently lives in or near? Considering the possible onslaught in a few months time of crazy stalker types trying to find out more about him? Could all be a lost cause anyway, but maybe some editing is in order.
oooh. That's true. Though, I think the information's been out for a while.
Really? He always mentions being in Westchester in his bios, but I've never seen an actual town before. Anyway, it's probably not something that can stay hidden long if people really want to know.
I think Adam is well capable of taking care of himself, even if the crazy stalker fans do arrive. I mean, that gym time has to be good for something.
ha! Punch 'em out, Adam!
I cut me out, but here - so you can all see just how beautiful he looked, and why I was barely coherent.

Aww. Hello, Raul.
Very nice - looks like he just got out of the shower.
Adam punching out fans - papparazzi's dream, PR's nightmare.
It would provide us with more pictures of Adam to post up here...though he might be in prison clothes.
Well, some of Adam's interviews could also be slight PR nightmares. Oh, Adam, Adam, Adam. God, though, I'd pay to see it. As long as it wasn't me.
Showeeeeer.
On first appearance, he was absolutely dripping.
Kill me.
There have been a few with some things that can be... well, not-so-nicely interpreted. He's just very honest.
He doesn't play the false modesty game, for one thing, and as Emcee said, seems incapable of dishonesty. Here's the gist of a quote about Jonathan Larson I remember from his early RENT days: "He wasn't a f*cking saint. He had a huge heart and loved his friends, but he would be the first to say that was it." Now, I have a feeling Adam has learned to be more discreet these days, but would still probably say nothing rather than anything he doesn't really feel.
I remember one where he said that he wouldn't go back to RENT because he didn't want to be in a cast of all kids. People flew off about it, because they thought he was dissing the show, and the current cast, and people who haven't made it as far as he has, when he's done so nearly by pure, dumb luck. But honestly? He'll be thirty-five in a few months, and at the time, the cast was mostly very, very young. I can understand that.
There was also the "sing GLORY!" stuff. And he's say "if you want to hear Glory, go to the Nederlander and hear Manley do it. No."
If you want to hear him talk, check out the video of his second appearance at Seth's Chatterbox. He talks about everything from Rent, AIDA, Chess, Cabaret to Tonys to vocal technique, Jonathan, auditions, his colleagues, the critics... lots of stuff.
Both his interviews with Seth are really worth having, if you want to get a feel for who he is.
Well, I have to go back to work (groan), but I've listened to the movie audio clips again on my "good" computer, and everything sounds much, much better. However, I'm still convinced that everything is slightly speeded up. The first time through I only felt that about Adam, maybe because I'm so attuned to his voice, but this second time everyone sounded a little too high-pitched to me. Strange. But it was reassuring to hear all that great instrumentation, and I think the CD will truly rock.
I also think my prediction that Adam's interpretation of his songs would change the most is coming true.
Yeah - I just had the clips on repeat for about twenty minutse... on very good speakers. They're growing on me, though I really dont' think those are final balances and mixes. Adam, though... he almost sounds like he's trembling. I suppose for that point with that character, it works.
He'll be perfect. I know it.
byeeee, Chloe!
Oh, before I go, one more quintessential Adam quote, during an internet Q&A at (I think) Playbill online:
Q: What superhero would you most like to be?
A: Oh for god's sake.
He then went on to answer the question - Aquaman because he loves the ocean and animals - but that first response is so Adam. Bye!
Has he been asked that question more than once? I think he got asked that on Broadway.com as well!
I remember the "Oh God almighty," response, and then he said Aquaman, because Aquaman gets to swim in the ocean AND talk to the animals. I loved that.
Hooray BWW came back!
I love those quotes from Adam, they always crack me up.
I changed the title, that last one is very likely to cause trouble, I loved your stage door story though Em!
I hate Aquaman though.
heh. I thought it would get that sort of reaction. I toyed with the idea of titling a thread with that header. Just to ruffle some feathers.
I had a feeling it was on purpose
All ruffling of feathers is quite fun, and some people around here are easily ruffled.
