Thank you, NTG, for effectively killing ANY possibility that I will pay attention in my English class which is... wait, no. I'm late. Later!

It's ok, I totally flunked the practice ACT because of that. (well, partially.)

hahaha good job emcee. lol. look at what this thread does to you!
i made a rent quiz once too
the site is down right now but should be back soon
you gotta really think objectively on this one and pretend you don't know the show as well as we all do cause i made it to get my friends interested mainly...and to cure boredom
my rent quiz
I vote for a Roger AND Mimi nude scene... Then we're all happy Man I really hope whoever plays Mimi has some good chemistry with Adam... That could make or break the movie. It also wouldn't hurt if she is increadibly hot

i'm pissed that they aren't getting daphne. she'd probably be busy with the baby though. i think heather headley should play mimi.
Well, I'm kind of thinking that a sex scene would most likely be a Roger/Mimi one.... yet, that's probably the one that I'd *like* to see the most, and I don't speculate well when my own personal biases are involved. Anyway, since that IS the central love story in RENT, I'd venture to guess that they'd be it.
That said, yes. English class became daydream time for me. It was kind of funny... I had no idea what was going on, partially due to the fact that I didn't really get very much sleep either. Then I come back here and see this picture of Adam (from Kean) on my desk and just feel like a complete idiot. I think watching a scene like that would be really weird for me, actually.
Anyway, OneBlaze is very right about the chemistry. Having seen Adam with a number of different Aidas (and knowing how steamy Elaborate Lives could be... or how "blah," for that matter) I think it's going to be really important to screen-test the people for Mimi WITH him. His chemistry with people can be kind of weird sometimes. Hopefully they'll find a good match, since we can't have Daphne.
Glory--it *is* a Roger and Mimi nude scene. Hence the sex part. There's also a Mimi and Angel strip tease....this is, of course, assuming that they keep it the same.
Just thought you guys might need a little cheering up. I surely do...::sigh::

whoa. ok. i'm seeing this movie (once it comes out) without my parents.
Yeah. Losing the parents would probably be a good idea with this one.
Good God. It IS Roger and Mimi?
I feel like this would be really strange for me to watch. Seeing Adam's ass in Cabaret is one thing, but I feel like this might be kind of uncomfortable to actually SEE. hmmm.
I love what they did with it...it's really really sweet. Totally unexpected where it's been stuck in though.
This is kind of making me want to read it... I know where to see the screenplay, but I haven't really felt ready to read it yet.
I swear you'll feel better about it if you read it. The weekend I read it I was *really* sick and it was the only good thing about my whole day. It's actually what inspired my current story after I thought I was totally out of inspiration for RENT.
Maybe I'll check it out later.
Another random comment on the chemistry thing... God. In Temptation, Adam did a "seduction" scene with... ugh, I can't remember if it was Orfeh or Alice Ripley. Anyway, it just looked so contrived. I was like "come on, Adam. I KNOW you can do better." *crosses fingers for good chemistry*
liking the sound of this continuing of the cabaret/emceeness
lol
hahaha, quite different, I'd suspect.

I have only read a little of the Chobsky script... I just don't have the motivation to read it all, and I didn't like what they did to the songs in the part I did read. I probably will get to it eventually.
I don't think Heather Headly is Mimi material, but it's imperative that whoever does get it has great chemistry with Adam.
And how much can they show in an R movie without it being NC-17?
Heather has ridiculous chemistry with Adam. That's the only thing I can think of that tips the scales in her favor, but I'm not sure her voice is really what fits for Mimi. Those two were on FIRE, though.
Yea I've heard Heather is really great with Adam, but her voice is just too... operetic almost? I'm not even really sure what I'm trying to say, she just always struck me as a calm cool and collected sort of person... I really can't picture her playing Mimi. I vote for:
1. A Mimi from a past Broadway cast or tour
2. An unknown, but not a young inexperienced one, as we already know Adam probably won't go for that
It's sort of unlikely, but as of now there haven't even really been any hints or suggestions as to who will be auditioned so I guess for now anything goes...
And PLEASE no Christina Agulara etc. Sure they might be able to dance and sing the part but I doubt they would be able to pull off being poor, bohemian, and on the verge of death. Plus, if Adam is going to have sex on screen, I forbid it to be with some stupid pop idol.
By the way, where can I find the script? I have one of Cbosky's but from some of the conversations its beginning to seem like everyone is talking about a different version of the script....
"2. An unknown, but not a young inexperienced one, as we already know Adam probably won't go for that"
huh? Broadway.com interview?
Which makes Jaime Lee the perfect candidate. ::cheers::
Okay now I have a minute. And I like to analyze things.
If you were talking about that new interview that had everyone up in arms, Glory, it read as though he meant he wouldn't do it if they were all like... eight years younger than him and he was some random guy in his mid-30's been tossed into this cast. Honestly, I didn't blame him. And mixing the OBC'ers with new talent might be a nice thing. I DO think it should be someone who has experience with the role, since the OBC'ers have clearly had lots, but I'd hope that if it is a newbie/unknown, she'll mesh well with them.
Anyway... I still feel weird about seeing Adam do that. Very weird. Hm.

Oh don't get me wrong I know what he meant in the interview... I just think that she should have experience because Mimi really is a complicated character that you either get or don't as an actress, plus I think that having come from a previous cast of Rent will have given the person a feel for how Mimi could be protrayed. I would just pitty or feel sort of embarrassed for a girl almost totally new to Broadway/Acting in general to be thrown in a cast/crew full of people from the original production unless she could seriously blow them away. With what a high standard Daphne has set for the character, I think experience with the character would simply make the movie better. That way, all the cast members are sort of on the same page, and will be able to work with eachother better. They don'y HAVE to be previous Mimis though, I'm actually quite confident now that Columbus might be able to pull this off. As long as they consider screen testing the candidates for Angel, Joanne and Mimi with Jesse, Idina, and Adam, then I will do the best I can to support his decisions. Those 3 relationships are very important to the story and it is VITAL that the new added cast works well with the involved OBC members.
