I'm hardly the best person to answer, but since I'm around...
What immediately came to mind was "Elaborate Lives," which could easily be turned into a more equal duet than it is in either Aida version. But maybe you've already done that, so what about "If I Loved You" from Carousel?
I see we had the same idea, NTG!
I definitely think you could use that ending in your screenplay, just expand on it some.
Well, you know...great minds...
But it's definitely the slowest, most emotional, hottest love song I've ever seen...so....
And yeah, if I used it, it would be expanded on. The finale is definitely going to be sung. I just...couldn't stick a random song into a short story
Yea was thinking about Elaborate Lives, but if I do pick that, Noday wants the first one, and won't let me change it, meaning I'm all alone onstage with no shirt on singing solo with a barely-there accompaniment until Aida's part starts. Which freaks me out. As much as I enjoy singing and love that song, I'd most likely choke up when/if performing it in front of a large audience.
It'd probably be a good learning experience though. I'll think about it...
Thanks for the suggestions
Butbutbut...wouldn't you have your Aida on stage the whole time? It would look really weird for you not to be seducing anyone
Wow, a fully staged version then? Though I don't think the shirt comes off until the very end... I can understand your trepidation. The Carousel suggestion might have been too legit, I realize now, if you sound like Adam. I can't imagine it done without almost operatic sounding voices. NTG's other choices were good - I especially second "I Should Tell You."
Okay not alone onstage, but singing directly to and getting all touchy-feely with a girl I hardly know. I belive its a pretty even trade :-p
Okay, okayyyy...but...but...you'd be so good...
I know I'd be okay at it singing wise, and I should really get over this whole stage fright thing if I plan on continuing theater, but really, I am the shyest guy ever. I enjoy acting/singing because I can be totaly different than what I am normally, and theres no reason needed. However, I'm horrible at doing emotional sentimental stuff, because I can barely do that in real life.
But again, I might give it a shot. Depends on who the girl is though. I'm not so talented a to be able to fake that kind of stuff on stage. Then again, maybe now would be a good time to learn. I don't know.
If I did sing it, sorry you don;t get to hear. Adam's a pretty hard show to follow
I would say give it a try...this coming from the girl who would argue the same thing if I were in your position...but still...if you have to do a "slow emotional love song", you might as well make it a good one.
Okay guys. Time to go have a Family Movie Night. ::gags::
Back around 9. I hope.
Well, since Noday is already out to get me, I might as well contribute to her field day.
I think I'll go for it...
My sister has the Aida karaoke, because she insists that she will be Amneris in the revival cast Haha. Thats the accompaniment I'd be using, so I wonder if its much different from the show.
Good for you, Glory! You'll be that much closer to reaching your goal. Adam said one reason he wanted to play the Emcee was to get past his insecurities and inhibitions (trying to picture what those could be)...
But never mind, this is the right way to go. I've read somewhere here that the Aida karaoke is pretty good, but have no idea how similar it is to the orchestration in the show.
I love the AIDA karaoke-- I've used it so many times. And the orchestrations are pretty much identical to the show. And there are also backup singers for songs like "My Strongest Suit" "Fortune Favors the Brave", etc. It's great.
NTG- great fan fiction!
Okay, guys, just checking in! Bye!
Hey guys... checking in for a few minutes...
Inhibitions? Adam? Well, I guess any actor has them.
Certainly dances without any...
Good evening everyone. Its snowing here, and I am bored...
It's snowing at home, I hear.
Warm in Florida....
Damn you and your floridaness!
I am going in March. Although I am staying with my grandparents, so there is a slight downfall...
Yeah, I'm here visiting the grandparents, littlefish.
Chloe - I have the Cabaret chatterbox... I need to get the old one, I think. I love it; he's brutally honest, and has a really cute sense of humour. He really did let lose for that interview, much like he did with that show. *snaps for Adam*
I can't believe I have something to do with Adam that you don't! Yes, definitely get the Aida interview too. Sherie Renee Scott is there also - be sure to watch her part until the end, as they tell the Aida accident story together in a funny way. He was getting over pneumonia then, which probably partly accounts for him having a little less energy.
LIttle Fish, if you're in NYC Emcee would probably be glad to trade places with you right now.
Ok, has anyone heard from Amasis since the earthquake? I'm extremely worried about our friend...
I thought at first Sri Lanka was the area to be worried about but Indonesia has been hit big time too.
Praying for Amasis and her family....
QM
I'm really sorry to hear that. I hope they're all safe. Even if they weren't directly affected, she may not be able to get online for a while. This thing must have been huge.
Some good news -
Playbill has a show on the Sirius Satellite Network, and next week Civilian will be CD of the week.
I'm off now, have a good night.
Radio Playbill
I'm not quite sure if I'm remembering correctly but wasn't Anthony in the area as well for a vacation?
No matter, definately thinking about everyone affected
Edit: wow lots of stupid mistakes there...
Yeah, he was. There's a couple threads on the main board for it.
