Apparently not. You'll have to brainstorm alone I'm afraid. I have to go, computer is misbehaving.
Bumping Adam
It was great... I'll post more in a few hours after I get some rest.
hey though i'd jou=in the thread even though i am a few pages behind! Just came back from the concert. Amazing but to tired to write a review now!
Hey guys, I'm back. I'm really sorry but I just couldn't log on anymore yesterday. I had a long day yesterday and was dead meat when I returned home from the gig... and had to be at work at 6am again this morning. Yes, please do feel sorry for me!
I just posted a very long review on the Main Board. I will copy and paste it on here too becuase this is 'home'
Please feel free to ask questions etc. I know we all are 'detail whores' deep down inside
QM
Ok, I'm back too...
Loved the gig. I personally prefered the Knitting Factory to Joe's Pub. It's an all standing thing which works better for Adam's music, I believe. Good to see some 'regular people' (who were obviously Knitting Factory regulars) turn up for the gig too, so great crowd. A lot less muppets and therefore screaming at this gig too, the occasional 'We love you, Adam' came up but as TGIF mentioned, he silenced them by squealing back
I think the set was pretty similiar to the one at Joe's Pub. As far as I can remember, he did every number from Civilian plus Model Prisoner. I loved the fact that he didn't do any show tunes. He refused to sing Glory when people demanded it and I loved him for it. Not the right place to do Glory and he's done it as a 'surprise' in the past but it wouldn't have been right yesterday. So good for you, Adam!
He started off with Ordinary Men Abound (if I remember correctly), then continued with Book Of Endings. Book Of Endings has to be one of my favorite tracks on Civilian and call me silly, but the track is such a highlight for everyone that I prefer to hear it towards the end of the gig.
I seem to remember that he opened the gigs at Joe's Pub with Tomorrow And The Sun (my all time favorite) and Beautiful Song which worked better for me. I know this might be silly but hey, I have to find some criticism, right?
He was 'rocking' a lot harder than usual and really let it rip. I thought his voice was in fine shape and he looked great. Still very long hair and still very thin, guess he'll stay that way for the Rent movie.
What I noticed was that he was a lot more sarcastic than he usually is. He tended to reply to sreaming and comments in an ironic, sometimes sarcastic manner and I was wondering if some people thought he was being serious.
For example, when he was tuning his guitar the audience started to talk amongst themselves, so he suddenly looked at the audience saying 'Excuse me, there is a gig going on here'. He has a very dry sense of humour, so he delivers comments like that without bating an eyelid. I had this feeling that some audience members got the impression he was being serious.
Also, every time one of the muppets would squeal at him he would squeal back at them in the exact same voice. Really cracked me up...
Squealy fan girl voice: 'Adam'
Adam in a squealy fan girl voice: 'Yeah'
When one girl asked him to perform one particular song (don't quote me on that as I couldn't really hear what she was saying), he said he wasn't going to do it. So she told him that he apparently promised her last time she saw him, so he replied 'Well, honey, I promise a lot of things, just ask this audience, that doesn't mean I'm going to keep them'
So as you can see, he was being a bit of a 'cheeky chappy' yesterday... I could go into a lot more details but don't want to bore everyone to death.
What I really noticed yesterday was how emotional and angry he seemed during certain numbers. He dedicated I'm With You to 'his two babies and all the babies that lost their lives this week' which got to me and him too, it seemed
He was mentioning how depressing he finds the world at the moment and that most of the time he hardly wants to leave his home anymore. I know he mentioned this at Joe's Pub before but he was refering to this 'depression' in the past then, whereas now he seemed to mean the present again (excuse me? I'm over-analyzing stuff??? You gotta be kidding )
His Civilian (his anti-Bush song) was VERY angy ths time. I know it's an angry song to begin with but this time he meant it from the bottom of his heart. He sneaked in a few f-words too. Nice one!
He finished the gig with Wonderchild which was a great track to end this wonderful gig with. And again, maybe it was me but he seemed very angry/emotional during that one too.
Overall, a great gig, loved seeing him again and really hope it won't be a long wait to see him again. Seeing him doing his own stuff is very rewarding, it's what he is best at. So if you've seen Adam on Broadway and liked him, you should definitely check out his own gigs, they are 100% worth it!

PS. I am VERY sorry about this detailed review but since the 'detail whore' is on vacation, I felt it is my duty to take over this task.
Thank you for taking the time to read it.
That was wonderfully written, QM. No surprise about that, of course. I'm glad you had a good time.
*applause*
Thank you!!!
Twas a great gig!
Wow...thank you.
That's...really depressing. But I guess in a way I guess it makes me feel better that this is having such a wide-spread impact here. I mean...not that I WANTED it to happen...but at least people are noticing and feeling it. Because they should be. It bothers me beyond belief how apathetic some people have gotten about the war, so I guess the fact that there's a response kind of proves to me that Americans are still human.
Sorry for babbling...I don't know if that makes any sense.
Amazing review!! The show sounds so amazing!!
Was there broadway.com cameras there, so we can see pictures (and possible video clip)???
oooh yes. There had better be pictures!
Yes, ladies, broadwayworld.com was there and filming! YAY for them.
NTG, I'm totally with you on this one. It's very sad how some people just don't 'care' these days, nothing really matters to them ot bothers them, upsets them. It's very sad, you know they are just not 'interested'
I'm glad you guys liked my review. I took some great pictures by the way. I will share them with you asap.
QM
Yay!! I can't wait to see the pictures!!
YAY PICTURES!
And yes, NTG. Perfect sense.
To be shallow for a moment after my long rant...
do we have a report on what he was wearing?
I can't believe no one said what he was wearing!! But his hair was still long-- we do know that!
Yes, an olive green tight turtle-neck sweater with a hole in its sleeve, green cargo trousers and brown sneakers. There!
QM
I asked the same question on the main board. TGIF told me, but it was hard to hear her, and I was stil in fangirl heaven. The concert... sounded lovely.
A hole in the sleeve? Oh, Adam... Were they at least the same color green?
I wasn't the only one who noticed the hole in the shirt!
That outfit sounds great!! Now I really can't wait for the pictures!
Oh. Was there ORANGE?! Because God knows Adam thinks orange and green go together... or was it red? *sigh*
No, it was definitely orange and green...and wasn't it also camo shirt and khaki green pants at one point?
Oh! The camoflouge shorts and the aqua green tshirt... and a pink tank top. That was this summer.
*gives up*
