I have a feeling Chris will be very good with him and they will all be wonderful.
Emcee, I also am very excited for the new avatar.. the suspence is killing me

Yes, but we have to remember that stage acting requires making things bigger, but film will pick up every detail. It's very easy to overact and since their will be dialogue, he can't rely entirely upon his voice.
The director and other actors can help him a lot with that, too, and the editing is so important. What Anthony posted about getting more intimate with some of the scenes makes me feel they're moving in the right direction.
There's a famous story about a scene with Greta Garbo playing the Swedish Queen Christina. It's the end of the movie after she's lost everything and there's a long close up of her face. People wrote all kinds of stuff about the meaning of the look on her face. When asked about what she was thinking about for that shot, she said, "Nothing." Where it was in the story was more important than what she was doing, plus the fact that she could be immobile and blank.
Guys, look at my avatar!!

Nice, Emcee, very nice. I'm not sure how I feel about that shirt.
I'm sorry to be negative about Adam and the movie, I'm just worried that the reviews will roll and his head will be on their platter... oh, the woes of a fangirl.
Creepy looking punk-rocker Adam.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH
It's from School of Rock!
I have to leave the computer for the night (crazy yelling mother)
Goodnight!
Emcee that's great
I know I only pop in every 437594307394763964 postes or so, but let me just say that Emcee's avatar is absolute perfection and Liken A Razor is my new favorite song.
Aaaaahhhh! is right! That really barely looks like him. No wonder people got confused when he showed up at the end with his short blond hair.
Nia, I'm a little worried too, but the good thing is that in a movie, Adam can screw up ten times, but if he does it right once, then everything's okay. Being on stage is really much harder in that respect. Of course his performance also depends on the director and editor *recognizing* when he does it right.
Chloe, truer words could not be spoken
Ahhh.... so *that's* the avatar we've been waiting for. The lovely eyeroll.
I'm actually not too worried about how he'll do in the movie. Like Chloe has mentioned, the director and the other actors will be working with him about this. As for reviews, there are just who are probably just *waiting* for this to fail, so you can't worry about people like that. We'll just have to wait and see.
I am really looking forward to the move I just hope chris columbus doesn't mess it up to bad, I mean he got like fired from the harry potter movies
Right, amasis, there always are, just like in the musical theater world.
By the way, Jacob, if Adam does do really well with his part, I can see him getting a nomination. It's the kind of part that *gets* nominated, and the Academy seems to like getting some new blood in every year. I'm not sure it would be good for him to win, though. It could become a kind of trap for him.
I knew you would, amasis!
I've talked myself to death about this movie. *gives up*
Rum- are you sure that he was fired? I remember hearing that he quit because he wanted to be closer to his family.
nice new avator emcee! i like the expression on his face.
i hope his acting will hold up in the movie but i think that he'll have such great energy around him that will help him pull through the dialogue. and the close ups will hopefully help if he can put all the feeling he puts in his singing into it

Agreed, Chloe. He'll get a nod if he's decent because this is a tough role in a major film.
Again, sorry to be negative, but I can't help but worry. I do think that the other cast members will help though and I know he can work well with them. Chemistry won't be an issue.
It's the eyeroll, Alix!
He's learned so much between then and now, though... hopefully they can tweak his film acting skills a bit.
"It could become a kind of trap for him."
I remember Adam saying once of how after RENT on Broadway, he got a lot of offers to play a rock musician in movies, and rejected them. Even though eventually he did accept the roles in School of Rock and Living Julien (that is, until he backed out of it for Cabaret ), I think he's pretty aware of potential traps and pretty good about staying focused on what he wants.
Rum - I don't think Columbus got fired. He stayed on as producer after all.
I don't *think* Columbus got fired - isn't he still a producer on the Harry Potter movies?
ETA: (since amasis beat me to it) And I've heard people complain that he was too faithful to the Potter books, and other people complain that other versions were too UNfaithful to the books. I'm sure all that will happen with Rent, in spades. Let's face it, people like to complain.

Amen, Chloe. You'll never make all of the people happy. I just hope he doesn't make it cheesy.
it may be the eyeroll but frozen it looks pretty good in my humble opinion
edit: *considers again* on second studying, face looks good, eyes not so good - it's kind of hard to see where they are but...hmmmm *ponders*
