I haven't heard anything.. I wish I could give you and idea, but I haven't heard anything negetive, so I am guessing he's just busy and tired..
I know, it's probably something like that. I just have a fertile imagination....
Anyone else having problems with the site right now? I keep getting error messages.
I'm having trouble with it, too. And hopefully he's just been busy.
I'm having trouble as well.. I thought it was just my connection..
I wouldn't worry about Anthony or the production.. He's very good at burning the candle at both ends.. Hopefully he will update soon
Maybe this is already familiar to most of you, but I certainly enjoyed reading this description of Adam's (and Fredi's) last performance in Rent.
Adam's last Rent
I got through about a quarter of the second page and I started to cry. I can't deal with mentions of Adam crying.
I guess this a good place, but I am currently listening to Aida for the first time in ages...
I LOVE THIS SHOW!
*cries for AIDA*
It's ok! I listened to part of it today, too. Slow therapy.
Also appropos, I guess.... today is nine years since Jonathan Larson's death. On a shallow note, it's thanks to him any of us have any clue about the wonder that is Mr. Pascal. On a less-shallow note, it breaks my heart to know what he could've accomplished had his stay been just a little bit longer.
Sorry, Emcee. Just a sad time right now, I guess.
Wow 9 years.. It would have been amazing to see what he could have done..
There are a bunch of threads about it, but I haven't posted much more than a sad face yet. I have to think about it.
Understandable..
How are you today?
I'm glad to see none of my dire imaginings about the Rent movie are true - too bad Anthony's initial post got erased though.
**pats Chloe on the head**
There, there hun.. see it's all okay..
that totally sucks about his post. .
How are you today?
I'm okay - about to go out for a while, but I'll be back. Since I've only recently started listening to Rent, and haven't seen the show yet, I'm not as emotional about this anniversary as obviously a lot of you are, but I understand how it must feel.
It's strange how we can be so effected by someone we never knew.. I do wonder how the OBC members are doing though.. I know for several of them (if not all) Jonathon was very important and a major loss.. I hope you get to see the show soon. The OBCR isn't necessarily a clear dipiction of the show. The Raw emotion is missing..
Well have a good day hun. I will talk to you later
Wait, what? Anthony posted?
That's exactly how I used to feel, Chloe. It took me a while, even after I had seen the show once to really feel an attachment to it, even though I loved it right from the start. The things I described in that RENT review I wrote kind of sum up how I feel now. In the past year I've learned so much more about what RENT stands for and where it came from, and I guess the developing connection to Adam has made that somewhat stronger. Now, having a much broader sense of what this truly means, it's a lot more difficult... even with someone I didn't know at all.
Thanks Cam! I'm planning to get into the city for tickets later this week, when the weather lets up a little. I like to go to the box office rather than rely on Ticketmaster. I've had very good luck getting good seats that way. I also like to go on Friday night when audiences tend to be up for a show.
If you don't mind me changing the subject, remember that discussion about "I Don't Care Much" a while back, wondering who it was originally intended for? According to someone on another forum (musicals.net, I think) it was originally one of several songs that were heard when Cliff first arrives in Berlin, and sung by an anonymous shabby prostitute.
All these songs then got cut, and I can see why. That song in particular, while suitable for the character who sang it, wouldn't work at all so early in the show. It also seems like having a bunch of songs there would really slow things down. But it's placement in the revival, and having the Emcee sing it, works beautifully. It's such a great song.
Yeah you are right.. I think it works well where its at..
Anthony's mentioned a few times that he's writing a book about his time in Rent and his mother's illness and death during that period. That should be really interesting. He's obviously a good writer and has a lot of insight.
I Don't Care Much probably wouldn't have been nearly as effective if it hadn't been at the end of the show. I think someone said Sally originally sang it, but I have no idea. My humble and biased opinion is that it was perfect where and how it was.
Agreed Em..
And Chloe, I can't wait to see his book..
It would be good to bring it out around the time the movie comes out, if it's done by then.
So how are you two doing today?
