Very. I saw it and just stopped dead in my tracks. I was like "whoa. Adam has a... a.... a CHAIR!"

Is she on her vacation already, then?
Ellie, stay awhile!
Part of me is afraid of Rent's influence on high schoolers. I'm afraid a lot of teens will go see it and go 'yeah, drugs and sex!' and miss the point. It'll become some popular thing, but not because anyone understands its value, it will be because they just want to see Rosario pole dance or whatever.
I really hope people can't miss the point THAT easily. I mean, it doesn't even remotely condone drug use. They're dying from it, even if for some, it's indirectly.
But, I may be overestimating...
So much of the kind of success Rent had, for instance, seems to be about right place, right time. All the stars lining up, as Adam said.
Someone here recently mentioned a quote about ignorance being temporary but stupidity permanent. Some young teens are going to like the show for whatever young teen reasons they have, but will eventually get to understand and appreciate it for what it is. Others will just be jumping on the bandwagon, as happens with anything popular. I really don't think it matters much if they do, in the grand scheme of things.

Maybe so, Chloe, but it will drive us hardcore fans INSANE. It's very irritating to hear people talk about a show you love as if it were just about shocking people or something. And it will become popular, and being 'bohemian' will be cool(er) and people will try to imitate the movie so they can follow fads. I hate that. Hate it.
Does anyone know where QM is? I miss that old muppet.
QM is visiting my US hometown. *bounces* I hope she's having a grand time.
That's what I thought.
High school is a small world full of those kinds of fads and "cool" stuff. You're kind of trapped in it at the moment. In the larger world, if the Rent movie becomes a big hit it will be so good in so many ways. For one thing, it will counteract so much of the ultra-conservative intolerance going on right now. It will be another boost for theater, which always needs it. And it will help the careers of all those talented people involved, not least of which is Adam.
However, I think everyone is really counting their chickens in assuming that it *will* be a big hit. These things are very, very chancy.

One can hope, Chloe. But if it is popular, it will be annoying.
Is this a recent development; the old muppet off to see amasis' US home?
I just hope it's not a total flop, like I think Phantom is pretty much considered to be. But I don't think people are really going to jump up and run to see a musical, in general. I wish it success, but I'm not sure it'll be very big.
She's been a way for a few days, nia. I think she's back today, even though I'm not sure how soon she'll start posting again.
Hi Chloe! Thanks for asking!
Yeah, I just got back myself from the big party. It was beautiful. Absolutely stunning design, great atmosphere, and unlike last week, almost no craziness at all. And my brother did a beautiful speech at the end. It really was one of the most beautiful wedding receptions I've seen, and considering we only had 6 weeks to plan this, I'm very very proud.
I'm running out now, but will be back later, probably. Hope everyone is well!!
That's great. I'm glad it all worked out so well, I'm sure partly due to your efforts!
awww, I'm so glad it went well!
This is strange, but I'm feeling quite bereft at the thought that they've finished shooting in NY and will be in California so long. It was exciting to read about people visiting the set and trying to figure out where it would be.

I know what you mean, Chloe. I felt like we got to watch Rent's creation through all the stories and photos, but now that's all gone.
amasis, glad the hard work was worth it!

Random..I would pay good money to see Adam sitting all divaish in that chair, or even a nice picture...I'm procrastinating by looking at NYC set pics on forget-regret...random thought done..
Yeah, it's weird to lose that presence... just knowing they were in my home. But we probably also won't see as many glimpses.
Fabala, I wish I'd taken a picture!

*sniffle* all sad now, pictures made me all sad and a little happy at the same time
NEED more...now...withdrawal is bad
And rather ironic...

mmm...Irony is bittersweet
I was thinking of changing my BWW icon to the picture of the chairs I took, but I felt I would be copying Emcee a bit...heehee...I needed something to do before.
I'm easing my withdrawal by listening to RENT and my random GLorys that I have
A lot of people took pictures of the chairs. I guess they're one of those things that seemed too much of a cliche to be real, and then there they were.
Just a guess, but I'm thinking that Adam's songs are the ones that will be most different from his songs on the OBCR.
I noticed that, too. It's kind of... tangible evidence that it's really happening, yet a little bit surreal, too. That was the one thing that hit me like a ton of bricks. The actual filming at first was too abstract to process. It was very, very weird.
What do you mean, Chloe? Vocally?
