Interpretively, I guess. His singing on the OBCR is wonderful, I think, but I just get the feeling that he'll approach the songs (and maybe the part) differently now.

much more love and emotion with age...there is history to the part and the songs. everyone in the OBC probably would have done the same if this is the case...
heehee...I like my new avatar... :)
His recent takes on Glory are definitely more nuanced than the he way he used to do them. It was pure passion in the past, but the ones he did recently has been more expressive. I'm curious to hear the rest of his songs.
I definitely agree. I was kind of thinking about that, especially in the case of Glory, hoping it'll sound more like it does now, just with the show's orchestrations.

Which do you prefer? I'm not sure which, if either, is 'better'.
Neither am I. The new one is prettier, for sure, but I think because he's only done it in concert version, there's not as much supressed pain, etc, that you hear in the original.
I expect the movie version will be more like what he's done in concert recently, but maybe more intense. The concert versions had a retrospective feel to them which probably isn't appropriate for the actual character. It was Adam rather than Roger singing the song.
It was Adam rather than Roger singing the song.
What I was trying to say, but more concise.

You both bring up a good point. I'm afraid Adam WILL sing it that way, the newer version, and it doesn't fit. *worries* Will the director try to tell him what to do with 'his' song?
I don't think one is "better" than the other. I'm just glad he's not reciting his old performance over again. And as for the movie, I agree with Chloe.
Anyway, for all his lack in acting and/or dancing , I trust Adam's choices in the way he sings. He sang 'Glory' a certain way for his concert, but I'm sure he'll make it appropriate for the movie.
Oh, I expect him to go back to singing it as Roger, but maybe with some of the more wistful feeling that the concert version had.
The director or musical director might have made suggestions, but most directors really don't behave like dictators. In fact some hardly say anything. That's fine for some actors, not so good for others.

hasn't glory already been wrapped?
I would like to hear his concert versions, but I cant even get a live version from rent...saddened by that..pshh oh well.

*twiddles thumbs* I suppose we just have to wait. I don't want a complete repeat of '96 either, but I hope it fits the movie well...
Yeah, they shot Glory here. It was recorded a while ago, though. I'm really curious, now.
What do we all think about the coveted table dance?!

mmm table dancing...was tempted to table dance and sing LVB at Pizza hut on friday.
In pictures and seeing it live they all look so cheerful and gay when they are doing that song...the pictures in the bible make me laugh..heeeheee
Nice new avatar, Fabala - I meant to say that before.
Yes, Glory is done - obviously, it was recorded last month, and from what we hear has been shot, at least the rooftop section. I'm assuming that since there's an April in the cast list, those flashbacks to the April story will still be part of it. I'm really looking forward to them.
The flashbacks were something I loved about the Chbosky screenplay.

I actually cried reading Glory in Columbus' script...oh god is that a precursor to me bawling in the theater?
I never read the Chboskey script, but what I recall from that early Columbus version is Roger playing a gig and making eye contact with April, riding on the subway with her, and then them making love.
::crosses fingers::
There's more, but I tend to linger on that last one.

I think he found her in the bathroom, too. There were a few explicit sex scenes in the original, but Columbus cut them. Two were Roger/Mimi and one was Roger/April. Sad, I say.

before I head back to work (never) I just want to say that I am extremely happy I found this thread...heehee...I love people that love Adam
bad columbus...grrr

They cut all the sex?
This is why Columbus is not supposed to be directing.
Very sad. But did I hallucinate about the April sex scene still being in the Columbus screenplay?
You probably didn't hallucinate - it may be there. I get confused between the two. The Chbosky one is sitting on my desk, actually.
I think he cut a lot of the sex, maybe not all. Still, sad.

the columbus september 2004 draft had the sex in it...I just downloaded it yesterday. The April/Roger GLory and Roger/Mimi Without You were there
