wonder if they had to clear out everyone a.s.a.p., due to the broken curtain? like they may have not wanted any tours around the set while they fixed it? i don't know. that's just my theory about the no Kerrie thing.
the new dressing room view confuses me greatly! but i think the picture looks clearer. does anyone else agree?
well...kerrie now lives in NYC, so even if she didn't get her tour tonight...she'll definately get another one later!
Okay, back. Kerrie wasn't on?? Aww. what did Greg say when he left--did he seem to be on schedule w/ everything so it would seem like it was fixed shortly or maybe evacuated? hmm
Now Greg has a chimp pencil...I was soo proud of my original idea, I now think mine pales in comparison to all of your wonderful gifts, hrmph. Oh well, glad I could give money to the Red Cross, I'm sure Greg would prefer me to do that then try to get a better gift, and it's what I'd rather do anyway.
So yeah just thought I'd mention...I didn't know what this sound of music was, but I learned never to trust my mom where theatre is concerned. It was just completely amateur--like at certain points I was thinking my hs musicals were better. They had one piano player who was phenomenal and Mother Abyss had an amazing soprano voice, thank god, b/c "Climb Every Mountain" is my fav song in the show. The Captain was good, and gave a great rendition of Edelweiss, and Max and Rowlf were also good...and Gretl was about 5 and absolutely adorable!! But yeah...otherwise oy. Gotta realize me being such a pit geek and musical person, I have a tuned ear, so when things are outta tune, I really cringe. did a lot of that. And Maria's voice was pretty annoying, and she was totally overacting. My family kept asking me why I'm being so critical and that they all enjoy it. I can't help when my ear hurts...
I RETURN!!
Wow, okay, well here it goes!!
Pre-show: Ran into Holly!! (Born2shine87) Talked with her before we went in. Told me she was going backstage as well!
The show was AMAZING. Everyone was dead on tonight. And I was especially impressed by Sherie. She didn't miss a beat even with everything she must have on her mind. She astounds me. And that high note in Love is My Legs is AMAZING. My jaw dropped.
When Greg walked out on stage... ok... I sorta cried a little. I was just in awe to see him in front of me. He was just incredible. His accent, his comedic timing, THAT VOICE. He is so great. I love him I love him I love him!!
Norbert was hilarious beyond all hilarity. Perfection in every way. That's all I can say.
Ok Annie! JOHN! John was HILARIOUS tonight. And man oh man can does that man SPIT! I was in the third row, so I saw all the spit! haha. The people in the front row had to shield their eyes a couple times! Hehehe. And why oh why do people say he can't sing? He has such a nice voice. Love Sneaks In will always remain one of my favorite songs. Just so...perfect. He is wonderful. So great.
Umm ok. There were some giggle moments, though nothing too noticeable. When Norbert came out for Ruprecht..it was just so ridiuclous that him and John started laughing a little. It was HILARIOUS. Ummmm.... when Norbert is in the wheel chair and eating the soup and the soup is supposed to drop into his lap...well..it didn't. lol. But they went on with it anyway.
Ok so I know you're all wondering about the curtain dificulties that went on tonight. It was right after Like Zis/Like Zat. Greg and Joanna exit..oh geez let's see if I can remember this correctly.. The stairs that Greg and Joanna sit on at the end of their song didn't exit themselves, so 3 or 4 stagehand guys came on and dragged them off. lol. And that's when the stairs come on and John and Sherie enter. Well... there is supposed to be some sort of curtain that comes down in the background. Instead, a steel cord rope thing sorta dropped down slowly above the stairs. John made some improv lines about it that were hilarious. Something along the lines of... we're still working on the decor. So they ended that little scene... I know Norbert is supposed to drag his wheelchair up the stairs, but he just exited off stage, and they brought the house curtain down and said there were some technical difficulties. We asked Greg about it afterwards and he said that the cord that holds the curtain just basically snapped. They did the rest of the show without it. And it AMAZED me how after a 15 minute pause they just jumped right back into it. It was funny - John entered and said his line while the orchestra was playing the interlude music. And then realized the mistake, grabbed Sherie's arm and went behind the door and entered again. HILARIOUS. He is great.
^^ That is a very long paragraph. haha.
So yes. The show was just unbelieveable. I got some of the money too! And I WHOOPED after Chimp in a Suit and Like Zis/Like Zat. Hehehe.
Okay now to the backstage part! I found Holly outside and we went back. There were 3 other people as well, who were good friends of Greg's. Kevin told us to wait in the wings instead of going up into the room.. maybe because there were so many people? I'm not sure. So we're waiting in the wings and I see Norbert walk by. And Holly laughed at me because my jaw just dropped to the ground haha. So we're waiting and I see Andrew going to exit..and I said his name. And he turned around and kinda looked at me and I realized I had to say something. lol. So I was like "Hi! Umm..I know you from the webcam." I went up and shook his hand and THIS is where I sounded really stupid. I got tongue tied and said "I like you." LOL I'm retarded lmao. But he was super nice and he took a quick picture with me on the stage. He was in a huge rush to meet people though, so he only talked for a little bit. He saw my face as I walked onto the stage and was like "Yep! You're on a broadway stage!" And standing on that stage was just... amazing. I have wanted to stand on the Imperial Stage since I was 7. Amazing. Wow. (Gav and Jamie - Andrew was in such a rush that I hardly got to say anything to him. But I'm sure I'll be back to the stage door again and I promise to give him your messages. I'm really sorry. )
Soooo we waited a little longer and and then Greg came up and I almost burst into tears lol. He came up and shook my hand and told me that he recognized me and saw me in my seat. I gave him the polo and he seemed to really like it. Hopefully it fits him! He was saying that he kept staring at me sometimes but everytime he did I would never look at him. Which is weird..because... I looked at him most of the show haha. He was like "And everytime I looked at you..you were looking at Norbert! I see where your priorities lie!" AHH NO! I love Greg much more than Norbert. I swear.
So he took us on the tour of the backstage. It was all so amazing to see everything. How they hang the set pieces from the ceiling.. so awesome. That was 20 minutes or so and then he took us up to the dressing room... where I discovered the cam was not there. (And I told all these people to watch tonight haha.) I'm pretty sure he signed off the cam early because his son is sick at home and I'm sure he wanted to get home as quickly as possible. Which just makes me love him even more.
So we hung out in the dressing room for a bit. I touched the robe. I signed the guestbook and all. Saw the magic of the floating! (He pulls himself up from this pipe.. wow how strong. Wowzers.) Saw Liz's and Talia's chimps! AND Jamie's clean teeth ribbon!
Took a picture with him. HIS ARM WAS AROUND ME. You all know how I feel about the arms! It was just so amazing. I was beyond happy, beyond ecstatic.. beyond any possible emotion ever. Just incredible.
I think the whole visit was around a half hour or so. After we left the dressing room we stood outside the stagedoor and talked for a bit. Holly and I told him we're going to school in the city.. so we'll be back! haha. He left to get back to his little boy. He gave me a kiss on the cheek!!! I almost just melted in my place.
He is the most amazing guy. So sweet..generous...hilarious. I was so worried I'd be so nervous, but he just put me at ease right away. I know I used this word a lot - but it was AMAZING. I feel so blessed to have gotten the opportunity to meet him. I just can't praise him enough. I love Greg Jbara.
I'm sure I forgot stuff... but wow that is long! Sort of a jumbled mess. lol. Pictures to come next..
Let's just say, I am a VERY HAPPY PERSON RIGHT NOW. Beyond happy. Wow. What a perfect way to spend my last night of summer. Thank you so much, Greg..
Yay, we yelled at the screen when the cam went off but it didn't do much good!
Wow, awesome Kerrie!! So glad you finally got to meet Greg and get the backstage tour. Sorry you couldn't be on the cam...and now everyone's going to sleep so I'm being forced to sign off. Grrr.
Barb, just saw the slide show, awesome as usual! And yeah, really gotta sign off. Blah. Beach tomorrow, woohoo, so maybe I'll be here early and then later. Everyone have a good night/day!
BEEAAAUTTIFUL!!!
andrew!!!
haha. wow.
great story! john is AMAZING, specially w/improv! and the part where greg and jo are PUSHED out his hilarious! hey, more power to them, b/c that probably meant that they were stuck in taht cute "leaning on shoulder" position for a while!haha
Heh, actually they walked off stage and THEN the super cool stagehands came out. That would have been funny, though. lol

Sounds great Kerrie. And wow you got that all up fast. We were all sitting yelling at our computers to have Greg turn the cam back on, but he didn't. And isn't his robe amazingly soft. I want one.
At first I thaught Andrew was wearing the same shirt in your picture as in mine, but he's not.

cool slideshow Barb! thanks
Oh, you didn't put the picture when everyone's name is on Greg's gift. Did you delete it already, because if you didn't, could you send it to me (I haven't seen it yet)? Thanks.
Oh Annie, John's a BIG spitter. I've sat in lotto(front row) seats 3 times and everyone spits a little but no one compares to John. He does it most and it goes furthest(that may sound a tad gross...) whether he's speaking or singing.
Michael Arden was a bit of a spitter in DC and me and Bluemoon were right there and got spit on, though we kinda liked that and appreciated his saliva. That might be a tad gross as well, sorry.

Oh God. Ther was a Friends episode, when Matt LeBlanc was acting with someone who was a spitter (but he was a shower like)
