Found it!
Yup BWW searching took me a bit to get used to but I'm pretty quick w/ it now:
"The story of the flood
Whatever camday that was mentioned, in the middle of the first act one of the pipes started leaking, so flooding started to occur in the downstairs area--this is where lots of the tech stuff is, all cues are given, the show is run, wigs are there and some costumes, the actors go down here to get from stage left to stage right quietly and it also leads to the pit, so that's what started to get flooded. Apparently everyone handled it well and the act continued without anything getting bad and the problem was fixed during intermission.
So yeah, that is one mystery solved, didnt' seem that exciting after buildup. Oh well. "
"If there was a Mount Rushmore for Broadway scores, "West Side Story" would be front and center. It snaps, it crackles it pops! It surges with a roar, its energy and sheer life undiminished by the years" - NYPost reviewer Elisabeth Vincentelli
