I remember that in '92 or '94 there was an Andrew hurricane and it was a big one too.
I was only 12 that time, I remember reading the newspaper on the beach I didn't even know what a hell was a hurricane.
Oh god, Andrew. Andrew hit where I am really really hard. Luckily, I didn't move to Florida until 2 years after. But whenever another hurricane forms and heads towards us, the news stations feel the need to ask "Will this be another Andrew?" Because, yeah, that keeps people calm... jeez.
Charlie really was bad but people who lived through Charlie are saying that it doesn't even come close to this one. Kerrie - you can't contact anyone in New Orleans now. There's no communications (or power of any kind) in or out of there. The mayor said that 80% of the city was now flooded. (I'm going to start crying in a minute. Time to leave and do something. ANYTHING!)
Mamie
Gah..it's so scary. I hope my friends are okay. I really hope they got out of the city before it hit.

You know, I am alway complaining about how sh*t is living in Hungary but I live in a place where there is no earthquake, hurricane, volcano, cunami or whatever....right a little flood, but that is all.
It's funny you mention that Annie. My sister and I were talking about this last night. I have a friend who has a summer home in the FLorida keys and she's spent at least half of the last two years down there just cleaning up and fixing up after hurricanes. Then I have another friend who's lived her whole life in Southern California. She's been through more earthquakes than you can count and she and her husband lost their home and everything in it in a really bad earthquake a few years ago. 2 years ago they all had to evacuate their homes because of wild fires that seem to come every year.
I've spent my whole life around tornados. I can remember one evening, looking across a field in Ohio and see 4 separate tornadoes moving across the horizon.
My friend in California said she'd rather have earthquakes than tornadoes. I thought tornadoes were better because you had a bit of a warning before they hit. Maybe it's just a matter of what you're used to. And maybe, just maybe, this is the cost mother nature puts on us for enjoying some of her finer gifts!
Ok, so I'm babysitting my nephew right now and he's watching cartoons. I stuck my head in to make sure what he was watching was all right and the first thing I hear is one of the cartoon characters say, "Isn't it strange. I'm a humming bird, but I'm doing much more sucking than humming." And I just burst out laughing. All I could think of was Norberts line in GBS.
It's horrible what's happening becacuse of Katrina. Though I'm lucky living in Upstate NY. The only quote unquote natural disaster I've experienced was an ice storm. I can't even begine to imagine what it would be like to live through something like Katrina. I hope that those of you in that area (Kerrie, etc...) are doing well, and I hope that your friends in New Orleans are all right.
Mamie, I'll definatelly say a prayer for Michelle, and for everyone else for that matter.
oh man, i will *definately* include all those people in my prayers tonight. makes me feel fortunate to live somewhere like NJ.
mamie, thank you so much for that link for the discount DVDs!
On a happier note, I just got Sherie's solo cd that I ordered from Barnes and Noble. It is GREAT. She is so talented.
One of the songs on Shere's album is a song by Larson that is going to be in the RENT film. I wanna say it's called 'Love Hurts' but I think that's wrong.
Love Heals. It's nice. I like it.
Thank's for the correction Kerrie.

Wow .. . I've been reading about everything with the hurricane and it's unbelieavable. The extent of the destruction is almost beyond belief. My thoughts go out to anyone with friends/family there.
As for the Sherie cd ... I've only heard clips of it on amazon.com. I really would like her to put out a CD in the style of the slow version of "Nothing Is Too Wonderful" on the DRS CD. I REALLY how she sings it and think a CD in that stlye would be fantastic.
Blinkies?...Is this a term everyone in the world, well the thread, knows but me, was there like a blinkie seminar I missed?!?!...Anyways, erm I have no point...

I love Dirty Rotten. Greg was great. He is always so solid and consistent. John, Sherie and NOrbert all had teh giggles through a few songs. Some funny things happened... When Norb has the hot soup, a fork flew off the table, and Sheire picked it up, but held it just out of his reach. Then through the Dr. Shufawhoosiecantspell scene, they all had the giggles. Wheee. I love this show. Also, Joanna sounded great tonight! Like, right on. SHe ad-libbed something, but i can't remember what right now.
well, hate to tell people this, but i know of someone in Tulane University in New Orleans. Hopefully she is ok.
My grandfather fell off a ledge sometime last week, had to crawl into the house (which took him and hour), called mine parents who live about half an hour away. They took him to the hopsital where it turned out he had completely broken his hip and just had full hip replacement yesterday. (he's doing great today.)
Just found out about half an hour ago that my only girl cousin (who is also a pisces like me and who is only like 7 or , broke her leg and fractured her femur bone and has to have a full leg (all the way to the waist) cast for 12 weeks. She lives in Ireland, btw.
So my first week in college has been great!
Again, sorry to write this but had to tell.
please pray! Thanks!
I will also pray for all your love ones and friends who are stuck in the hurricane.
