There are two things that sadden me about DRS and the role of Lawrence:

1) That Jon Pryce has been in the show for just about a month and people are already discussing his replacements, as are the producers.

2) That if John O'Hurley plays Lawrence next it will have been a John, a Jon, and another John to play him, and yeah, odd.

#1) I think the John thing is kinda cute, like a club...

#2) The BEST part of Kerrie's avatar is that Friends is on the background.

#3) Kerrie lies and wore her bangs up on Halloween. And posted MANY pictures.

#4) BGW starts going Title happy around pg. 163in the first Greg thread and the situation escalates from there for about the next 5 or 6 pages...

Hmm, I really don't know much about this, but are we sure O'Hurley is being discussed for the Broadway show and not the tour? They should be casting the tour about now and I agree with Lizzie that it would be fairly inappropriate for them to be looking for Broadway replacements right away, unless something is going on with Pryce himself that we don't know about.

Edit: Sorry Meghan, granted you got a lot of welcomes when you joined :-P

And hey, sometimes when things like this happen, where you realize you weren't initially welcomed you do stuff about it:

wow.

I'm gone for a few hours and chaos erupts.

I love you all, you are all my second family. (no joke)

Barb and Mamie, I get excited when i see that you guys post. Some people may not listen to you, but I have grown up with adults (no cousins or second cousins my age so I talked to the grownups) and love when you guys post and that you actually care about talking to teenagers and people in their twenties. Love you guys!

It would be funny if the next person to take the role of Lawrence (broadway or tour) was a John. It's like a requirement.

changing the name of the title. I, for one, didn't notice it. I don't look up at that when I post. But I do think it doesn't make sense to change it. there is no reason. If we are threadjacking the post, why do we have to do it to the title too? and that is MY two cents.

Kerrie! Why did you cut your hair?? I loved all that long hair of yours. I was jealous. cause I cut my hair before I came to college. Big mistake. i will show pictures later (not on my computer in my room).

uh....Mary and Cat, glad you both changed your avatars. It's good to have a change once in a while.

ok, got to run. love you all!

and barb & mamie i definatly care about what you say.

I just wanted to clarify that no one, namely, Liz and I(I suppose), ever, in the history of the thread, said they didn't care what Mamie and Barb thought. I should hope no one ever says so...

A differing opinion is just that, a differing opinion.

Anyways, Congrats Mary...

Manoel sings the beginning of "The Ballad of Sweeney Todd," and he's in "Pirelli's miracle elixer," "God that's good," "Not While I'm Around," and "the Ballad of Sweeney Todd reprise" I *believe* off the top of my head..

uhh... thanks ryan, but I have no idea what you are talking about "it's ok. Rock on." will do though.

and cat, no one is saying that you don't care about what Barb and Mamie say. It's just..I don't know. all i know is that I don't want anyone to fight. I love my family here and don't want it to split up. although, it is natural, and good, to have an argument every once in a while. so....i have no idea if I am for or against this argument. hmmm....will have to think about that.

anyway, yeah.

Hi, I'm back after a good nap and a little avatar change.

Yikes, sorry about any controversy that resulted from my coming in and the title changes!

I was looking at the last couple of pages, and, since Mamie said she'd like to hear it, and I'm in the mood to gush about a Broadway show, I think I will tell you my opinions on DRS. Maybe it'll be a nice way to get the thread back on topic The Official Greg Jbara Love Thread, even though that's probably not such a big deal.

Overall, the show was a lot of fun. The ensemble was bristling with energy from the overture on. I thoroughly enjoyed each musical number, and, by the end of the show, my throat was a little sore from laughing so darn hard!
As for the main actors - I probably don't have anything to say that hasn't been heard before, but here goes:
Jonathan Pryce was great, of course; he's an amazing actor with a gorgeous voice. My only complaint is that he seemed a little bit too elegant, too debonair; almost a bit too serious. That's probably just me. He was still funny, though.
Norbert Leo Butz was out that night, unfortunately. I've been a fan of his singing and the personality that shines through on his cast recordings; I was hoping for a chance to see him live. Still, his understudy, Jason Gillman, was hilarious! He handled the character extremely well, especially the physical comedy.
On to Greg Jbara. As I said before, he was a delight. His deadpan expression (on a side note - does he ever smile?) made the comic lines even funnier. "Chimp in a Suit" and "Like Zis/Like Zat" were highly enjoyable. And you've got to love Andre's accent!
Joanna Gleason worked very well with Greg. I think she's a beautiful singer; her numbers brought a smile to my face.
Rachel York impressed me with her belting and vocal projection. She also captured the character well, putting up a good "innocent" persona and switching flawlessly to the scheming Jackal! Those of you who've seen it - does the audience always burst into applause for the reading of her note in "The Reckoning"?
Mylinda Hull - her Jolene Oakes was a riot!
Again, all I can say is that, overall, it was fun - I'm trying not to break into the "Dirty Rotten Number", which I know will be stuck in my head for weeks. Obviously, the music's extremely catchy, and I found all of the numbers to be dynamic, well sung, well acted, well danced!

Whew! Sorry about the long post, but I'm guessing that reading unabashed praise of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels makes a Greg fan happy.

Hello all--

And welcome to new people!!

I think it's possible they're looking to John O'Hurley for the tour. It does seem a little early to be thinking about replacing Pryce. And pretty soon the producers are going to have to start working hard to find a good replacement for Norbert. The buzz around him is a large draw for the show----I think finding a replacement is going to be very challenging. Probably harder than replacing Lithgow....*waits for Annie to strike her dead*...

How can you not remember those lines Dre? When she has them all apologize to someone...they stand up and dive into thep it of girls...only Karen caught Gretchen, and the girl in wheelchair dove...she was this girl who was crying hysterically, and then Damian shouted out she doesn't even go to this school and the lines were said and Ms. Norbury told her to go home.

Does anyone else find it difficult like if you have no immediate homework to do on a given night or couple of nights...that you know you shoudl take the oppertunity to do some work on long term homework/projects but...you just can't? Like I think I accomplish more long-term stuff when I've already done something school-related than when I have nothing pending to do.

Alan Rickman! I bet he would make a great Lawrence. I loved him in Dogma (If you have never seen a Kevin Smith movie, Please Please please go rent one - the man is a genius) and in most pictures, he steals every scene he is in (except HP and thats only because he is so underused).

I agree Annie that John was hard to replace but Norbert will be hard too, but not on the same level. Man, if they could convince Jack Black...wow

The reason I asked about the shows, Amanda, is because my cousin (who saw Rent for the first time Sunday -Yay-) is around the same age of several posters on the thread (I think she and Liz are both the same age) and she told me that her age group and classematess are really obsessed with those two shows. I watched them the other night and I was 'meh' (Nice to see Bruce Vilnaich losing weight but seeing the chick from Wierd Science there...no no no). Plus, how a guy like Flavor gets girls.... I miss the old days of Simpsons, Married with Chiildren, and Friends. Anyway, enough thread jacking. Here's to a fun cam tomorrow.
