I'm super excited for the auction now. I may actually *gasp* wake up before noon to take part!
Barb -
I'm so sorry to hear this. I know just how deep this scare really is. My niece (the one who visited Greg in Feb) has had a number of them - with the worst leaving her in a coma for 3 days. The good news is that she was 12 years old when this worst one hit and she hasn't had one since nor has she had any side effects from the coma. (Hers also hit in the early morning hours and it was her dog running from bed to bed and barking frantically that woke people up. She still credits him for saving her life!)
Another niece also had a couple of them when she was a baby and she's a straight A student and soccer star at her high school today. It doesn't ease the scare - it just goes to show you that things do work out.
Have a wonderful time in NY. I'm not coming in until Sunday and it breaks my heart that I won't ever have a chance to meet you!
Barb, I'm so glad to know that he's alright. That's very scary. Hopefully it never happens again.
Mamie, sorry to hear about both your neices. But it's such a good thing that neither of them have had a seizure in a long time. Let's hope it stays that way.
wow. So glad he's alright Barb. and yeas, you do need to be around people that can cheer you up a bit. I'm sure your husband can take care of him and get a little father/son bonding thing going on.
mamie, that's awesome that both your nieces are ok. seizures are such scary things.
Yeah, dogs are amazing. My dog, if he knows someone is in the house or even right outside (while he is still in the house) and the telephone rings and he knows we can't hear it (like, if we are in the shower of something), he howls. And he never howls at anything else, or even if the phone rings and we can hear it. But, because my mom works nights and sleeps during the day, when the phone rings, my dog doesn't howl cause he knows my mom is alseep and doesn't want to be disturbed. he's incredible.

Thanks for the messages, everybody! I appreciate it.
re. dogs ... I'm amazed at how smart they are ... like the ones who can be trained to "smell cancer" ... I dunno, it's like dogs are psychic.
Kids and dogs can both be pretty amazing!
Gosh I have a zillion things to do before my trip, including a really fun *root canal* on Wednesday morning at 10 (central)!I have told my dentist that I have to be out of there in time to get home for the cam; they said I should be. It's a husband/wife practice ... she started work on me Sat. morning ... had to stop on the one tooth because the novacaine just wasn't taking on the tooth but was numbing all around it. Apparently the infection is blocking the novacaine from affecting the tooth, so I'm on a heavy round of antibiotics before I go back. We're trying to get as much done before my trip as possible and then finish it up after I get back home. The timing and having the money to pay (what ins. doesn't cover) was so that I just couldn't get in to see them before now.
I'm not sure what kinda shape I'm gonna be in in NYC! LOL Just hope I'm out of pain and not having to take the heavy pain killers at all. Haven't had one so far this morning, but yesterday (didn't take one yes. a.m. either) by the time church was getting over around 11, I was starting to feel it. And then at bedtime last night I had to take one. I honestly think I would rather give birth than have a toothache. lol

that sounds like fun. good luck with that. I hate going to the dentist, and the last time he had to fill a cavity, he told me I could listen to my iPod to drown out the noise of the drill. guess what I listened to? DRS, and boy did it help.
right now, I'm at work. and I have a cold. not cool. I'm trying to pop my ears but it's not working.
have to update props list for Taming of the Shrew. hey, read a review from theatremania about the last show we did (which is actually still on. it opened Sat.) http://www.theatermania.com/content/news.cfm/story/8594
Barb, I'm late on this, but SO glad to hear that Eric is okay. I know that that's a scary situation, and how much you love Eric. Like I said, so glad that he is alright; and I think that the NYC trip will definitely help to cheer everybody up a bit.
Glad to hear everything is alright as well, Barbs. I hope to see you on Thursday when I came by. Any features to look for?
Barb, my mom annoys me by the way she says everything happens for a reason, but unfortunately, experience has taught me that that is the case. While I don't know why this had to happen to Eric, it is clear it had to happen now as did your trip, so that the two are able to coincide. I'm so happy you have the trip now...to have a vacation, relax, get away, see Greg and Julie(I accidentally wrote Barb and Julie)...and more importantly, take in DRS. The line they use for Cabaret about "Leave your troubles outside. Life is disappointing, forget it." really fits in to DRS. I mean it does a lot of shows for a lot of people, but I think it's safe to say DRS really does that for most of us. If you even think of cancelling, I will fly out myself to personally kidnap you
I'm glad everything is okay. Just hang onto the postives. Always look at the bright side of life
I wish you could have seen Rachel too. I guess Shere isn't exactly someone to be upset about seeing though.
And I'm not positive, but I'm pretty sure I'm seeing Jersey Boys Thurs. night with one of my other fav adults ever. We have to be at that stage door, but I don't exactly think you'll be gone from DRS quickly, so I think I can make it over for a quick hello. (Too many smileys in this post! I'm sorry!)
Great to see you posting, Mamie! I've missed you. We are gonna have so much fun sitting next to each other in the front row next Sunday(between the tears of course).
My cat thinks he is and acts just like a dog. He wags his tail when I call his name, runs like a dog, loves me to rub his belly, etc. I hate cats. But I love him.
Wickedscoundrel, I shouldn't have said anything 100% until confirmed. We actually have to make sure that Greg is okay with me picking up stuff for others and you guys sending the check to me, etc. Traci e-mailed him; I or she or someone let you know what he says. But yeah no problem as long as he's okay with it
Wow I feel like I haven't made such a typical-length me post in here in a little while...

Root canal!!! Well, have fun Barb! I hope you won't be in pain, a really do.
And have fun everyone - DRS brought us together, enjoy the show one more time before Greg leaves.
mamie - I haven't read your messages for a long time. I am glad you are here and okay.

Hi, everyone.
Barb, I am sorry to hear about your son, too. Remember how resilient kids are...more so than the adults, usually! (My daughter experienced seizures when she a baby, but they have not recurred thus far.) I am also sorry I won't have the chance to meet you.
I saw Sunday's matinee, and it was like seeing it for the first time. Everyone was fabulous. Greg was perfect.
As someone else posted earlier, the only reason I wasn't in tears is that I knew I was going to see it one more time with that cast!

Barb,
Sorry to hear about your son (and your root canal), but I'm glad to see that things are going to be ok. You definately deserve a little R+R!
I'm in shock that it's this weekend already. July 16 seemed so far away not too long ago. Same with July 23.

Y'all are all so sweet!! Thank you!
Ryan ... features to look for ... um ... I will be wearing a new bra!! I bought 4 yesterday -- was in DIRE need! So just walk up to random strange women and ask if they are wearing a new white or pink "just my size" brand bra, okay? (There's a clue right there ... I'm a "just my size" kinda gal.)
I also believe things happen for a reason ... or that at least God can take any situation and bring something beneficial out of it if we are open.
Barb xo
hahahahahaha!
Barb, only you will tell Ryan to ask random people if they have new bras! that is so funny!
wish I could see you but, props don't make themselves here.
and definately going the 23rd!

did that last message by me and Liz's reply get deleted? I'm not seeing them anymore ... that's wild ... my sizing post was fairly innocent compared to some of the stuff that gets posted on BWW. Whatever! :)
Amanda and all ... as you may know yourselves by now, what Amanda's offered ... if she's willing to do it, it's fine. :)

Mamie, yeah, BUSTed it!
LOL Barb!!! I thought the same thing! I was like "What the heck, this wasn't bad AT ALL." But man, Barb, that means that we aren't rebels of the Greg thread anymore. THOUGH, I was banned for several hours once. Total misunderstanding, of course, but man, I was devestated. The whole school day I was whining about it!
Ahem.
Liz ... your turn ... :)
Barb, you're my favorite!
