No turning back, you must accept the con is done... It was a ball, it was a blast. And it's a shame it couldn't last. But every chapter has to end, you must agree.

this thread is dying...obviously. re: The Official Greg Jbara Love Thread, Part 4! *Witty Title Forthcoming*
Norbert Leo Butz quotes about John Lithgow: "He's really clumsy. One of the joys in life is to watch a great big huge man totally wipe out backstage. It takes John about three minutes to hit the floor. It's like watching a Great Sequoia falling gracelessly."

So Three Days of Rain last night=Wicked stage door x 100.

Oy gavolt.

It was fun for the most part though. Got to walk on the "red carpet" twice (first to pick up my tickets, then to go in) did a semi-pose even though nobody wanted pictures of me...after intermission I walked next to Elaine Stritch and was close to/saw: Susan Sarandon, Tim Robbins, Cal Ripken Jr(cool!), Dave Matthews(random), James Gandolfini, the girl who stole Monica's credit card from Friends, Kirsten Johnson, Elizabeth Ashley...and a whole lot of people who looked familiar and I coudn't place. Still, it was different than other opening nights I've attended...the line of people like me standing back and watching went all across the back to both stairs. And going in and coming out...all of 45th Street must have been taken over by fans hoping to get a glimpse of Julia.

Barricades were all over the place--people who wanted to leave and not stage door were stuck. Susan Sarandon exited with us and got mobbed for pics and autographs, as did James Gandolfini. I only saw Julia wave from her car, because I was closest to the street, otherwise I wouldn't have seen a damn thing. I think little kids were getting hurt.

Oh yeah, the show was decent. Paul Rudd was adorable. I was a little confused, but after unconfusing myself, I still felt like I was missing something I was almost like...what's the point of this?

Oh, and I mean while we were in our seats in the mezz Oprah walked in and half the mezz stands up to get a glimpse of her. I mean...I think it's cool to do this, to get autographs, etc, but...go to so much trouble to get a glimpse? I dunno about that. Last night was fun, but I wouldn't do it again. Makes me very thankful Broadway stage doors are nothing like that...even Wicked.

Supposedly George Clooney was there...okay I wouldn't mind getting a glimpse of him to be honest.
"If there was a Mount Rushmore for Broadway scores, "West Side Story" would be front and center. It snaps, it crackles it pops! It surges with a roar, its energy and sheer life undiminished by the years" - NYPost reviewer Elisabeth Vincentelli
