Glorious indeed. I'm glad he's doing it and I'm glad it's making him so happy. I wonder if he realized that he would indeed be upstaged by the car, though.
I really admire what he's done with the role though. He really gives the audience what they want. But it's not what they expected.
He's brilliant.

Absolutely! Which is really cool, because that's the same thing he did with Cabaret! It's like they go in expecting to see this classic show, and then the second he appears it's like "surprise, surprise." And he's so good at being, I don't know. Not bad or naughty. That isn't quite the right word. But, saucy. Yes, he is brilliant. I never ceased to be amazed by him. And I'm so thankful that I've been able to experience several different projects during his career. I can't wait to see what the future holds for him.
I mean he has stated several times that he knew people would be surprised at this career choice but he wanted to leave the theatre happy. He has been in some very seriously deep and sad shows. In this one, not only does he get to leave happy, but he gets to be apart of some kid's decision to do this for a living, which is also very important to him. He did it for good reasons, and he did it well. Do you think he will keep on this track, or go back to serious stuff.
*sigh* Emceeeeeeee. *shakes head*
I do think your theory is correct, though. I can't remember if I gave him a standing o the first time I saw it, because it was my first introduction to him EVER, but I seem to recall standing and clapping like an IDIOT. I think my sister was mortified. But we were in the back, so no one saw me anyway.
But the second time, I was up the second he came out! Ugh, I SO wanted to wave at him while they were all waving in the car, because he was waving back, but I felt dumb. Ah well, next time!

I set my alarm this morning so that I'd get up to watch Breakfast With The Arts on A&E! They did a recap/highlights thing of Broadway on Broadway, and it was exciting! I had my fingers crossed for the Chitty performance, but they didn't show it. It was kind of cool to see Rent, though, and it's the closest to it on Broadway I'll be getting for awhile, hehe. And when they panned across the cast, it was fun to see people I SAW LIVE (on tour). Small town, doesn't get out much, right here!
But no Raúl.
He also did say something about the cast -- which sort of indicated that he wasn't one of the first people cast, even though I had thought it was the other way around. Regardless, he called Phillip Bosco royalty, which is truth, and talked about the great group of people quite extensively.
Brantley had a fabulous blurb in the Times a bit ago about Chitty and "man versus machine." He went on about how nobody seems to have informed Raul that he is NOT in fact the star of the show, but rather that the car is -- and that any efforts he may have to upstage her are totally doomed. It was kind of mean, but not as mean-spirited and Brantley can really be -- and it was funny because it's true. He said that Raul is trying really hard to upstage the piece of metal, but he just can't succeed.
In any event, I'm glad he's happy (and that he's singing Disney music -- that's the best). Or, at least, I hope he's still as happy as he *genuinely* was when this all began. I hope that I'm not right in assuming that it was fun for a short while, and that now the "wheee!" phase is over with and he's bored out of his pretty little skull.
Don't feel dumb, Elphie!
Was the special good, Allie? I don't get A&E, but if it's worth the while, maybe I'll try to find a copy.

Do you all ever sleep?

It was just a two segment thing at the end... nothing huge. They showed part of Big Spender, and talked to Christina. Then there were clips of performances from Hairspray, Avenue Q, The Color Purple, Wicked, Rent, Mamma Mia, In This Life (that's what that new's called, right?), and I think that's it. It ended with everyone on stage with the finale and the confetti. Personally, I loved it, but you were there, so I don't think it'd be anything extra special for you. Oh, I forgot to add that they talked a bit with somebody from each cast they showed the performance of. Most of them, anyway.

I just woke up... that's eight hours. I sleep, just on a freakish schedule.
I can't believe I'm saying this, but isn't Christina adorable? I'm sad that they didn't show any kitten. They should've interviewed him!

I was looking forward to hearing that end note that you guys were all raving about!
Yes, Christina is ADORABLE!
I think there's audio going around, Allie. I may have lost it when my computer was misbehaving, but I'll see if I can find it again.

Yaaay! You rock, Emcee.
LOVE the new Riff Raff picture, by the way. CURLYCURLY!
"Oh, look. Me! And... my face!" Yes, kitten.

I find it funny that "kitten" has become public domain.
But he really does remind people of one. It's not just something random! I mean, people agree. I'm not crazy.

I can't see the kitten reference, but I still love it!

Allie, he's sweet and cuddly like a kitty.
Em, it's crazy.
Here, Allie, look at this one.

Pretty! He's awfully cute... like a kitten, I suppose, hehe.
It's all about the cute and the cuddly.
If I wasn't hacking up my lungs and I didn't have work to do, I'd be seriously considering seeing the show tonight. It's two hours of happiness. Everything... just happy.

I wonder if he gets cold a lot or something. He's wearing... *counts* four layers.

Aw, no. Poor sickie (my dad always called us Sickie when we were sick... it was actually pretty cute). Maybe take a break from work later and put in a happy movie or something?
Maybe he just wants to be cuddly, nia. I'd hug that.
Maybe. I have Chitty the movie. And Chitty the "movie."

I have Chitty the movie, but I left it at home. I've been wanting the watch it for weeks!
Choices, nice. Watch BOTH! Uh, maybe that's not a good idea, seeing as you said you had work to do. I dunno!
The movie is like three hours long. That's bad.
