Hi, Ang!
Okay, I promise this isn't as random as it seems, because it's realted to The Normal Heart (sort of), and Raul was in that, AND Ang's signature quotes it, so yeah: I'm reading Angels in America for the first time. I really really like it.
ETA~ Which Ibsen was it?
Hi, back at ya!
It's amazing. Period. I think everyone should read it once. So brilliant. Hmm, I'm not really good with complex sentences tonight, am I?
ETA: Hedda Gabler, which I love but it always depresses me. She's such a fun character though. He was George, the husband.
I don't think I would appreciate it as much had I not read The Normal Heart, because that sort of "woke me up" to this kind of play, if that makes any sense. I'm only about half-way through "Millenium Approaches," though.
Which Ibsen did you see?
If I had to pick a book to be my bible, it would be Angels in America. (I know that sounds weird. I thought of that description semi-recently but it's so true in a weird way.) It's absolutely stunning. Enjoy it!
Oh. Never seen that one!
I definitely will enjoy it!
FIVE MORE DAYS!!!!!
I had to get this book of plays for a class and it only has The Millinneum Approaches. I was pissed.
Oh no! I would lend you the second part if I could. (except one of my teachers actually has my copy at the moment and it's going to be impossible to get him to actually read it, but I'm determined.)
Grrr, both copies at my schools' library are checked out until NEXT YEAR. 2006! I guess I'll have to find it in the public library when I go home for Christmas.
Okay, it is definitely time for me to head to bed. I'm falling asleep at the keyboard here. Good night (morning!) everyone! Have a lovely Sunday.
Good night Elphie!
You could also rent the DVD and then read it afterwards. They did a beautiful job with it. I have a friend who did that and I think the movie enhances the experience, whether you see it after or before reading it.
'night, Elphie.
Night Elphie!
I have to read things before I see them. Otherwise, I get lazy and don't read it. I did it just a few weeks ago with Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.
I get that. But the ending of Cat varies, so...
I'd loan you my copy, but it's a necessity. If I were you, I'd just buy it, you'll want to read it again. Or not, whatever. I'm easy-going.
Yeah, but my professor talked about all the differences between the movie and the play in class, so I felt like I didn't have to bother after that.
I'm sure I'll find it somewhere. I'll check the bookstore on campus first.
If you can't find it, let me know. I'll check out the cheaper places like the Strand for you!
Thanks!
No prob. Night, all!!
why is the jolly jamster on page two? giving ye old thread a jolly BUMP!
*sob* I just found out that the subsciption music program where I had all these cast recordings (legally) downloaded is corrupt, so I had to delete all the music! Including Taboo and the Hair concert and Adam's CDs! I couldn't save put it on my iPod because the program is stupid, so I just listened to it on my laptop, but now it's GONE!
AHHHH! OH NO! Orange, I am SO SORRY. That must totally suck.

....so freakin' tired. I almost saw Chitty this afternoon, but I would have had to run from Carnegie Hall to the Hilton in my chorus dress. Just couldn't do it. But soon, I'm gonna go soon....
awww, that SUCKS about the music.
I saw See What I Wanna See today. It was weird to go back to that theatre. The unit set looked totally different, and I was sitting in a totally different location, but as soon as I walked in all of these images of The Normal Heart kept coming back to me. I don't know, I just kept... musing a bit on how moving what I saw there was. That place will always be really special to me.
I saw Woman in White today. It was good, but the projected sets left me with mixed feelings. They were amazing and allowed for sooo much freedom, but they felt like they belonged in a more modern-styled show. Whatever.
One day, Chrys. We'll see it. No worries. And I love the Public. It's almost too intimate, I feel like I'm intruding. And I like that feeling (unless there's eye contact).
Does WIW have rush?
I'm still trying to figure out what I actually thought of SWIWS.
I know what you mean about SWIWS.
And nope, I just bought the cheap tickets in the last row (no leg room at all, but my legs are short anyway). They're $26.25 and the theater is only two levels so it's no big deal. I'm not sure about rush.
